Well to a certain extent there already is. If you wear the bright orange jacket and pants and backpack, you'll stick out like a sore thumb. There is some armor in the game as well with actual protection against less powerful ammo. But for the most part it would be nit picking with things in regards to jeans, cargo pants, slacks and what not. Except heels, those are death when SHTF.

I never said it was a military simulator, even though it kind of is. If you want it to be realistic then lets have some draw backs. You wear heels, then you get to break your ankle every 50m+ you run. Sprinting results in immediate face planting. Skirts I guess it depends whether it's long or short one either way you'll end up colder. There's also the obvious draw back of being revealed.

"When I get into a fire fight I like to swear skin tight jeans and a small tank top with a flip flop combo!" Said no woman who has seen combat ever, or better yet any woman with an ounce of brains. Nothing wrong with having female clothing but even if I was a woman I would not wear half of that crap in SHTF situation. No.

I think OP is just an asshole at this point. Or trolling hard, they're kind of the same though.

This is going to be very long, but let me start this off by saying what makes DayZ so different than any other game (To me). The adrenaline rush, the absolutely pure adrenaline rush you get from anything, even when you get in a fist fight with someone or a fire fight it's intense as hell. You start shaking, you get tunnel vision, and all you're thinking of is whether to run away or stand your ground, either way you want to survive more than the other guy. The Back Story: I hopped on the game like it was any other day to me, the update came out so I was excited to grab one of the new guns and enjoy the more stable gameplay. I spawned near Berezino and started my trek off into the town, slowly collecting gear as I went. I was doing pretty decent but I still couldn't find a suffient weapon after a few hours, I believe I'm cursed because I simply can't find guns unless I take them from another player. So I checked out the map and saw the North East Airfield nearby and decided I might as well go find something there or die trying. Why I Love This Game: I was in one of the barracks at the NEAF; the one with the prison cell in it. I was on the second floor in the hallway checking out some loot there, when all of a sudden a few bullets wizzed by me and hit the wall. I hit the deck as fast as possible and crawled to the window. Occasionally I looked up through the window to see if I could spot the nasty bugger that shot at me. I assumed because of the angle he must be in the general sniping spot at this airfield; if I remember anything from the mod and that he had to have had an SKS because it was about 2-3 shots close together, and there was no way an M4 was doing it at this distance. I laid there for approximately 20 minutes occasionally peaking out to see if he stands up. Low and behold he did eventually and he was exactly where I figured, at the stone wall looking right at me. I laid back down and angled myself to the wall so I could crawl down the stairs without him seeing me and got out of the building. At this point I was determined. "I'm going to flank this asshole for shooting at me for fun" Now through all this I did manage to grab an FNX and a single magazine so i wasn't decked out by any means, but I thought to myself. "Hey if I grab and bag this guy not only will I teach him a lesson I'll grab a sweet new gun" So I started my way into the tree line looking back and making sure my angle was right for him to miss where I was. (Turns out it was somewhat pointless, he had no scope at all) My character kept on saying how hungry and thirsty he was, I said "We'll rest soon my friend" I wrapped around the entire airfield the slow way but sure way and just kept saying to myself. "I will get this one" Once I made it to the hill where he was I walked slowly up the back so I could be directly behind him. I was maybe 40 meters off from him when I finally saw him sitting at that damned stone wall. I wasn't going to take a chance with this pistol though so I waited there watching him waiting for the perfect moment to book it at him. When out of no where his friend server hops on right next to him. I could faintly hear them chatting about how good the new SKS is and that you can totally snipe from here no problem. Fun part was they were 12, maybe 13 years old, so to me this was all the amount better. (Not that I hate kids but look what they're doing in this game I mean come on) So I watched them a bit longer, his friend had an SKS himself. They were both pretty equally decked out, helmet, backpack, SKS's they've been at it for quite a while for how much they had. Eventually I found my moment when they both shouldered their weapons for a drink. I pulled out my pistol and bolted at them, I was about 15 meters away when one of them saw me. I screamed into my mic "HELL NO!" I popped him immediately in the head. At this point I had tunnel vision up the ying yang and had the adrenaline rush of my life. The other one was a bit more of a challenge though, he was trying to hide behind a tree freaking out and trying to get his rifle out. I kept firing until I was out of ammo. I eventually ran up to him and he had bled out. I grabbed as much of their gear as I could hold and ran. Boy let me tell you I ran like Forrest Gump, I ran and ran and ran until I hit the ocean. I sat down next to a bush, I ate and drank and checked out the new gun and threw on the PU scope I had been saving for it. After Math: First thing I did was light up a smoke. I don't think I've had sweeter tobacco before and it was nice. I had gotten off the game to access what had happened. With a massive smile on my face I say this. This game is amazing! So that's my story as far as it went, I hope you enjoyed it and enjoy the game. It's got a boat load of problems but you can have a great time, you just need to endure breaking your legs a few times and clipping into buildings that aren't enterable. That did happen to me once I glitched into a building and couldn't get out, I had to starve my character to get out. My next plan of action with this life is to horde a bunch of food and drink and go back to Berezino and hand it out to some new players and get them a decent start, and I'll have my trusty SKS to enforce the law to some bandits that sit around the town. Best of luck!

Thanks everyone for the great comments! I've been doing my patrols now in Berezino, keeping the streets safe for noobs.

You get used to it more or less. Everyone plays the bandit at one point or another and as you get a better handle on the game you start to play the hero/bandit. As you can see though from my own story, I'm not a perfect player though.. Not to be cocky but I'm good, I've been playing since the release of the mod and played arma 2 before hand so I know how the combat works. As far as guilt goes...well yeah there's so much value on our items because it takes so long and is such a challenge to get them that you hold with them with dear life.

He might have tucked away in a corner when he logged. Just enough out of site to be safe.

I did this a lot on the mod, I ran the map on my second monitor and adjusted it as I moved. At this point I know the map by heart and everything worth while is the same in the standalone or I've learned the new stuff quickly. I haven't used a map ever in over a year, maybe to judge a distance with the gps but never to find my way or loot spots. But anyone with two or three monitors can easily do this. I still keep some general information on the game on my other monitor ie: Crafting methods

Server hopping ideas and more... *here* (dayZ-SA)

I've got to give it that, the loading times are vastly better and I love it. I also had a thought pop in my head, at leased for people that get hit and hop over to another server. Take some blood from them or kill them off completely the game is already unforgiving as hell. lol -
I'll go first person only when RV gets optimized and the arma mechanics become fluid. lol Sorry I agree completely that first person mode should be the only one in a game like DayZ being a simulator. But frankly Arma has always suffered from clunky movement and executions, and first person never served a purpose beyond flying, driving, and shooting. Walking is simply too "weird" and there's the other problem. It's not just me and we all know this very well at this point, RV sucks and I mean REALLY sucks. It looks great and does what we want it to well considering other engines but it's not friendly to anybody's rig. I don't want to get into the specifics unless someone wants me to, otherwise I'll simply say, my rig is over the recommended which untimately means nothing but I should theoretically be playing the game at 60 fps constantly and never dipping while at atleased low settings, instead we get this. Woods:50fps Towns:35fps Cities:20fps Just enough to piss you off and feel awkward but not enough to make the game unplayable. Once this is seriously addressed I'll play in first person all the time and I'd honestly prefer it but I use third person on Arma, Arma 2, Arma 3 and will on DayZ. I don't think it's going to happen soon though since after 7-8 years nothing has changed.

Server hopping ideas and more... *here* (dayZ-SA)

All server hop fixes I've heard of all involve killing part of the game for players. It sucks pretty much regardless, somehow this didn't happen as much on the mod. To my knowledge it was because it took forever to switch servers, maybe a 5 minute wait time would be best. But I know myself and my friends always play in the most populated servers or maybe join a moderately populated one if we want to feel a bit more safe. A lot of these fixes seem to just end with you not being able to switch servers if it dies out and I've had this happen on the mod where there was 50-60 people on and I played for hours and I was 1 of 4 people left on the server. I usually get off and switch. Something is known for sure, server hopping needs to be taken care of quickly. It's ruining combat. -
Actually once you get used to the Arma mechanics it's very affective, at leased for me. Having prone, crouch, and stand is better to me in this style of game. Nothing beats the ability to move your head and zoom/focus. I played Arma and Arma 2 for years before the mod or standalone though so I've had to time to get used to it.

This isn't necessarily a bug so I'm not reporting it. (Also nobody will see it) I've racked up 50 hours of gameplay on the standalone so far and have not yet seen a single residential gun. As far as I know there's a couple shotguns, Mosin Nagant, SKS, and various melee weapons. I've found plenty of melee weapons but zero guns. Now I've been killed by a few of these, and I've even seen people running around with them, but I have not seen any spawn as loot. I absolutely could just be unlucky, granted this is DayZ and nobody is lucky. I understand and embrace this theory but seriously after palying 50 hours and on empty servers, full servers, fresh servers, and bare bone servers no guns? I've found Fnx pistols and m4s like they're candy but no residential guns. They're supposed to be more common if I'm not mistaken, again though I could just unlucky. Something feels off about it though. Are there any specific buildings or areas to check for them? Beyond this I love the game and can't wait until the beta and full release. It's as unforgiving as I wanted it to be and everyone hates each other as much I wanted as well. Happy Hunting!

Thanks, I didn't know the SKS or shotguns aren't in yet but my problem like I said is not the gun being buggy, it's that it doesn't exist for me. I will defintely check out the cars more thoroughly then, I've neglected them mostly but I'll check them now.

The dumbest things you've ever done in DayZ.

lmao I was alive for 14 days straight, I was absolutely decked out to bone. then when I was a firestation I took a wrong step and feel off the stairs (about a 2 foot drop I know) and broke my leg and died. More the games fault but it was my fault for turning my head and walking off not thinking.
