    New weapon! SKS 59/66 Yugo

well it would obviously cycle suppressed with subsonic ammo, and its heavier subsonic ammo carries about the same punch as the mid level subsonic .223, but once you get into super sonic its a whole different ball game. wouldn't want to shoot players with it, even heavy enough clothing can stop a .22, but it'd be great for taking out zombies iraqiveteren8888 did a test to show a .22 could be lethal out to 300 yards.. but their definition of potentially lethal was having the ability to penetrate the body and the amount of hold over they needed at 300 yards was ridicules which is roughly the distance across the NWAP airstrip.

Persistent item storage, SHTF style buriable tube cache

the point would only be if it was persistent, like the camps and bases you want, that's why I put the word persistent in the title, tag, and body. the game is not currently setup for persistent items, this could be the first item they make persistent. sort of a getting their feet wet type of deal. as no one would have any big gripes about loosing a couple stashes if they get wiped during the testing phase. I can remember where I put a few stashes myself. it would be a small care package to myself when I die or some guy I see down on his luck, I don't think you'd need a metal detector, especially since there might not be anything metal there. and because you can see the lump on the ground where you buried it.

    Can we talk about Endgame?

as with most end games it will be the same, built as big as you can, then devolve into pvp, I don't see this being any different. I feel you that persistent players creations should be a big thing in the end game, be able to clear out a city, maybe even get doors with locks for the apartment buildings for a small personal area; but in which ever light you look at it with, mini bases are a must, it can mean a lot to a player to have a small space they can call their own. agree that time ratio should be increase or at least offset, right now its already dark in the game by the time most can get home from work or study, either a 3:1 ratio or moving the days back 8 hours in game would work for me. something until night becomes a more accessible option

non-night vision alternative (light up the town)

possible, but flare guns only light up the sky for a hand full of seconds and point you out as they travel directly away from you, also most loot in towns is inside so it'll provide very little light where you need it most.

I am legitimately scared every time I log in

it can be frightening sometimes, I was on a night server last night up in the fire station tower eating cereal when someone logged in right in front of me, I tried to pull out my gun but I was stuck in a canned animation of eating, and when it finish, my character pulled out his gun to promptly put it away again, after trying to get a weapon out for what seemed like an eternity while my new friend was in a similar state of affairs. I decided to just punch him in the head since it was the only thing I could seem to get working right. he dodged back and fourth a few times in this moment of quarrel then quickly logged back out. leaving me to think why I couldn't get my gun out after 3 days of not seeing a soul
  6. suppressors are now in the game for both pistols and rifles, I know its in the pile for things that will be in the game in the next year, but if possible I'd like the next patch to implement the correct sounds files for the suppressors, and melee as well as correct the activation zone/audible distance for suppressed weapons. on top of this making suppressors actually useful it would be nice not having to twirl around because a missed axe or zombie maul currently sounds like incoming fire.

implement suppressed fire and replace sound fillers

for your reading pleasure http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.45_ACP also, I agree with syphax, if you can't tell where its coming from, all you know is you're getting shot. which becomes irrelevant pretty quickly they can add subsonic 5.56 later, if they want to. but everything is in place to make this happen now

    New weapon! SKS 59/66 Yugo

I don't know what you two are whining about. I was explaining MOA to someone then suggesting things to keep the game simple, it is just a game after all. I want that stopgap gun between the m4 and mosin just as much as anyone else, I just think the svt-40 would be a better fit, runs on the same ammo as the mosin, plus like buddy said, the sks wasn't built for a scope, the svt-40 was

Zombie Population and Types, Player Progress.

there's one thing you have right, there's currently nothing limiting our progress to different areas, like infestation for example, you wouldn't run to an end game loot area without packing some serious kit. but thus far you're pretty much good to face the world as soon as you find a hatchet and a couple bandages. I don't know what they could do to limit this without having some seriously more deadly enemies like the tank off left 4 dead. and i'm not saying that comically, its to my understanding that they've stripped the AI to the point that it might not even support human NPCs that can shoot back. and I doubt the server could really handle 100-200 zombies per town. so that really crimps their ability to layer progression through the map. I don't think it can be done.

    New weapon! SKS 59/66 Yugo

to the guy not getting what a MOA is. a minute of angle is a dispersion over a distance roughly equal to 1 inch at 100 yards, the guy saying it has a 4 MOA spread at 300 yards means IRL it will have a 12 inch spread at that distance; the rough cross section of a human torso making its effective range not much further then that. that being said I hope its a little more accurate then that, somewhere between the mosin and the m4, and I hope if uses the same round as the mosin just to keep ammo types down(even though it doesn't IRL). that being said, they could remodel it to the SVT-40 as it shares the same ammo type as the mosin and was a largely manufactured soviet rifle(+1 Mill), still made and found today actually.

implement suppressed fire and replace sound fillers

sorry, to re-iterate, when I said suppressed fire, I meant fire with a suppressor, not suppressive fire. at least for the fnx45, it'd lean the balance of usefulness back towards center between that and the revolver

    Stickies.

actually, making a sticky of the top discussed ideas would be helpful, then there wouldn't be a new how to stop server hoppers every other day

    Loot-able Objects like the Fridge

my only issue is it seems it'd take longer to loot an area if I had to check every drawer and cabinet, and I wouldn't be able to do a cursory glance to see if what I want is in the room or even if the room has been looted already, and I doubt they would add more loot by using containers so it'd be the same stuff just slower to get at. though this would make it more plausible to randomize loot every so often, and keep track of what has and has not been picked up, so it has its ups and downs
  15. commanderbash

    Trauma Plates

I see no issue with its implementation, damage wouldn't have to be turned into shock, it'd be the same as now that getting shot degrades the plate and damage would seep through on lower quality levels, even if they make the area bullet proof at pristine it'd only be for a few shots and only for a relatively small area on your person(center mass front, sides and possibly back exposed) so having good plates might not help you at all during a shootout depending where your hit. If plates were as rare as some of the attachments it would be fare enough trade off just to find them

non-night vision alternative (light up the town)

if it was implemented I think the KISS strategy would be best. vary it later to peoples response. this doesn't have to be super realistic, but as I said earlier it's plausible and covers all issues players have with NVG implementation. to reiterate I think the best way to employ this would be if each town has a power generation station of some sort. (power plants for the few major cities, mobile power station for the medium ones, and a simple commercial gas power generator for the 10 house towns) and to be clear the reason each town has one is so you have somewhere to go to get the power on so it doesn't have to be super realistic; a bank of semi trailers hooked together with wires would be a believable enough power station for the one or two large cities without power plants and be a quick copy paste job for the developer . a simple fetch quest to get it working. like find the McGuffin from a small area nearby to get it working, something that can only be carried in hand so people don't stock up on them and leave. then bring it to the power station and you'll light up the town for 30 or so minutes. what ever the fetch quest is, it should outweigh risk/reward, for example to get the airstrip running temporarily you might have to walk some tech from one side of the runway to the other. take a couple minutes, nothing too hard. but makes you an easy target for someone while you're doing it so friendly cover on full servers would be advisable. it needs some minute amount of difficulty, if it was literally press a button and to turn a towns lights on I feel some people would almost troll it, turning the lights on everywhere they go even if they're not going to go through the town, but it only has to have a little bother to limit that. one of the very best things about it is its ease of scale, they could try this out on one of the many smaller towns and have it be: bring a gas can from one of the garages to the generator.

Night vision needs to be implemented ASAP

doesn't work in pitch black, pitch black at 100% gamma is still pitch black. I know the reason I want nvg is to see further in a wider field of view then the current light afford.

    Reduce fall damage

A two story fall might break a leg. A three story fall would leave you seriously injured. Neither would likely instantly kill you. So yeah. They need to dial it back a bit.

    NWAF Tents

Yep they're emtpy now all tents are. Probably has something to do with the strain with the new loot locations and extra zombies. I miss it though. Liked having a goal area to make it towards when playing.
  20. from what I understand with the latest update server can choose to run off a separate hive thereby having characters unique to their server/ server cluster. but when I load in I frequently have my character set to default, I know there's a communication issue currently with some servers so I quickly find another server to load onto my saved character so it doesn't get over written. but for the amount that it happens, is there more then one public hive, like one for hardcore and one for normal, or something like that? or is this all from the comm issue?

Night vision needs to be implemented ASAP

they could implement some form of night vision with an active infrared light source, that way anyone using it will see anyone else using it. I don't care what the realism whiners want to say, limited night vision has been available for some time in cameras so it it'd be somewhat aviailable in some forms commercially, and I guarantee if you go somewhere that has 2 major and another 5 minor military outpost there is going to be night vision somewhere. as far as max brightness/gamma is concerned there are some areas and building that are pitch black at night so it not the solve all solution. if you want to lessen the night hardships, brighten it up a little, give us a hunters moon.

    Guns and their individual parts

some guns are already composed of 7-8 modules, are you suggesting further subdividing it? nope. I would go for a more basic system that you could "salvage" a gun for parts, and if those parts are of an equal or better condition to your gun that you can combine the parts and the gun to increase your weapons quality level by one. then again, the cleaning kits might have that very purpose, that is when they get it to work.

    where's the .357 speed loader?

can't find it anywhere, been through 2 airports, 1 mil tent camp, and 6 towns.
