    different optics can attach to a weapon in different ways, about a hundred years back Mr weaver thought to make a rail that can universally accept optics. the optics on the m4 in dayz SA use the weaver rail system to attach the red dots sights, acog, and buis. the mosin and the sks don't have this universal adapter rail by default and require special/unique attachment systems to mount optics, but there are plenty of aftermarket adapters that let you slide on a weaver rail to an sks no problem. its a little hard to explain to someone that doesn't know that much about gun stuff. the idea of having this adapter is so the sks could just use all the sights the m4 has instead of making special red dot sights that only fit the sks or whatever. :edit: I changed the poll to say accepts m4 style sights, hopefully that is more novice friendly

    I you've shot a mosin or similar you'd know your ears would ring for more then a little bit. active ear cups would be something I'd support being added, they allow low DB noise but cancel high DB noise.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQHai-MkDkM there are a several companies making them, and they've been in production for the last 5-10 years. a reason they would end up in cherno would could be the armies first order to restrain the population prior to the extent of the issue being realized. what ever way you want them to make sense to be there, its a taser without the taser. 12 Ga bean bags would work too, but these would defninitely be more effective since they should be able to incapacitate with 1-2 shots, and its a double barreled shotgun

    to my knowledge, you can fill a water bottle with water from a pond, if its not treated you're likely to get sick from drinking from it.

    molle bags and plate carriers would definitely add something to the game. molle bags should also fit on backpacks too. a simple system that added slots for universal storage and a + attachment point for specific storage would work best in my mind

    ever watch frankiein1080p ? you know what he does to incapacitate on the dayz mod? we shoots someone so they're unconscious, then bandages them, takes their gun and anything else he wants then leaves them be. they get away with their life, and he gets pick of the litter. best scenario for everyone this is the interaction that I'd like to see, where you could choose not to kill your prey. if you don't want to use them, then don't, go be a cod kiddie or what ever else it is you want to do. I don't see how so many people could miss the point so intently, the point of LTL rounds is to have the option of allowing your victim continued life. I personally would like the ability to subdue someone I happen upon, take what I want off them, cuff and bag them, then let them be, in a minute or two they'll wiggle out of the restraints without any idea where I went off to, but they have their life and most the gear they works hard to find, and I have everything I would have taken off them if I killed them anyways. I would be very happy with this scenario if you've played APB you'll know that LTL rounds have significant disadvantages and don't work in every scenario. but its the ones that they would work for that would makes the game more magical leaving people with the kind of stories they tell their friends of. if you rather shoot everyone you see dead. that's the way you want to play, and I'm not saying you have to change that. but I want to change that. I want to let them live.

    in response to -karma- easier to see what your shooting at. currently all sights have a major handicap, a 3.5x PU scope has a magnification of 1.39x , the acogs x4 is actually 1.54x, and although I can't find the magnification of the long range scope it's around 4-6x. I'd be happy using the PU if it actually had 3.5 magnification, but it doesn't. so i'll take the next best thing. the long range scope.

    depending on how the suppressors eventually become implemented, there's a lot of realistic factors that would self balance adding a suppressor. 7.62x39 are supersonic, so you would still hear the sonic crack of the shot, a suppressor would only reduce how far away you could hear where the shot came from. 7.62x39 are almost non existent as subsonic, excluding reloading circles, but even if they were added it wouldn't cycle the rifle(would have to manually cycle), would have about 1/3 the muzzle energy, and would drop significantly more per unit of distance. if compensators are added, choosing between shooting more accurately and reducing your shots heard distance from 300m to 200m will probably be a no brainer for most.

    I'd be happy with having one or two people being able to at least get it running temporarily, but when base building and persistence becomes a thing, having the ability to more permanently get it running with 3-4 people would be awesome too

    agree about the leg holster as long as it was in addition to current clothing hard points, also what about a holster bonus to getting the gun out, I mean that's what they're there for, so you can the shortest time possible to getting your gun. not like your routing around in a pelican case in your backpack for it.
  14. it seems to shoot a little more accurate then the m4 but I'm not sure, has anyone dug the gun stats out of the game files yet?

    great! glad they got the paint mod setup for it, and big mike, if you want a red dot, throw a vote on the rear weaver rail adaptor. if that was a piece you could add it'd let you throw any of the m4 optics on the sks, such as the two red dot sights :)

  17. I'm having the issue finding weapons, I went through about 10 towns and the NWAF twice, and I couldn't find much for weapons. no sks and only one m4 found so far. I item spawns are not being reduced to this level, it would be a real pain to find just about anything

    Extension Packs

    troll? no one here has the full game. this isn't even beta. an alpha by definition is unfinished missing major parts of the game which this is. there's not even vehicles as of yet. if they just stopped now and said they're going to put some polish on it and consider it done, there would be around a million people demanding a refund. the reason everyone has purchased this game this early is to support the developer and to help guide the development in a way that the community finds beneficial. if you want to give them more money i'm sure they'd accept donations, but the game has grossed over $33M USD which tops some triple a developers. a nice bit of development cash for a team rockets scale

I think it would meet most/all interest if a shtf style of burial tube was added to the game with either a 2x4 or 2x3 storage space(vertical). these tubes could be constructed of PVC pipe found at construction zones , duct tape or glue to hold the bottom endcap on. and buried anywhere with a shovel. the marker for it (deployed in-game model) could be a dirt hill a few inches off the ground. so it would be very easy to overlook unless you were actually looking for it, but still be noticeable enough that you wouldn't bury it in town or at the curb of a street. with such limited space, you could leave yourself a small packet if you respawned in that area like a vest and some water, or a pistol and a spare mag and can opener. there's a big difference between what you can store for yourself with 2x3 slots and 2x4 slots, so that would be the one thing that would take consideration. ◾it would provide very limited storage for those who want there to be little if any persistent in game storage options. ◾it would be labor intensive limiting the number that players would care to place ◾it would encourage players to stick to certain servers (lessen server hopping) as the persistence of items is server specific ◾it provides easter eggs for perceptive players and gives another reason to follow players acting odd rather then KOS to reduce number of containers on server it could be made that each time it is opened it would reduce its quality one level or just completely destroy it, what ever works better for balance. any for ANYONE that says its unbalanced, there are currently 6 main spawning areas with more to follow, to have even a pistol near each you would have to find the items to create and bury the capsule AND the items you want to have buried AT LEAST SIX TIMES, find SIX different hiding spots, and where it has no ownership, anyone can open it and take the items. this is allows players to provide a small cache for themselves, or help out a new player they meet by telling them where it is. its too small for main weapons (melee or rifles) but it gives you just a little start of what ever you want to fit in its limited space. providing its still there when you look for it ;) these are real things, they're not hard to make IRL, and the time entailed in setting one up would definitely limit their use to those with an significant interest in leaving themselves something for the future :EDIT: since they've added hacksaws into the game, it would make even more sense to find a pile of PVC pipes in a construction zone, as a loot node, that you could cut to size to make this.
  20. I don't know why this isn't already in the game, if its glitched or what's going on here. but protective cases should protect their contents until their either badly damaged or ruined. simple, makes sense. vote.

    Can we talk about Endgame?

    do suggest something beyond that? I've heard the suggestion before that the end game could be that you could "leave" the city by some means as the end game, and the game would tally your inventory and stats to give you some sort of score as well as some sort of bonus on future spawns

    Using an M4 Optic

    right mouse is bound to iron and zoom, its finicky so I changed it on mine, bind iron sight to thumb mouse button or something else and delete the right mouse button for irons, this works well for me

    Dissapointed new player

    man out of all the post only a couple are actually trying to help this guy out, Masteryopa, there's no vehicles in the alpha yet, so anything with any vehicles is the mod that this game will be based off of. if you've never played it'd help to start by reading a new player guide. or youtube one, get to know the basics. when you load in, run along the street until you find a sign with a city name in Russian, either in the steam overlay, or on a second monitor/smartphone google dayz chernarus+ to get a google map of the game, find the town you're in, and find the nearest well, drink from that well until you're full and you should be good for more then long enough to find food. you'll find that certain buildings have more food more often then others. currently any brick building is a safe bet, not all houses spawn loot there's places across the map that are very likely to spawn specific things like certain guns, attachments, food, and backpacks. once you get the hang of it you'll have a great time. good luck
