    Post your STUPID DEATHS

Before the zombie sight/hearing increases, I was crouch walking next to a street (not on the street, one visibility tick, no sound ticks) in Krasnostav and for no reason a zombie comes sprinting up to me. The zombie knocked me out with one punch (had over 9000 blood) and broke my leg. I managed to wake up with just under 2000 blood, shot the zombie with an AKM and thus sealed my fate.

    dual weild pistols?

We should also be able to dual-wield the Winchester, just like in Call of Duty! /sarcasm

    Do you like 1.7.1?

I like spawning with next to nothing, it adds a sense of urgency to the first minutes of a new life. Yesterday I was fortunate to find a revolver in a shed just outside of Elektro. Soon after I found a Colt 1911 and a little ammo. Ten minutes later I found an M1014 (16 rounds), an M9SD (1 mag), and an MP5A5 (2 Mags). In the hour and a half I played total, I probably found another four or five pistols and several other of the lower-end primaries and there was ammo everywhere. Anyone who complains about having/finding no weapons is going about it in the wrong manner. Don't go venturing through a big town looking for your first gun, just scout the outskirts for houses/barns/sheds and finding a gun isn't bad at all. The new LoS mechanic is a work in progress. In the first few minutes of waltzing through Elektro, it came in handy, saving me from a potential horde as I crouch-ran behind the church and past a few walls. I didn't think it would work, but I peeked over the wall using third-person and sure enough, the zombies just stood there and had no idea where I was. Not much later I was spotted by a hopper at the Elektro power plant and I crouch-ran around the main building, with only one little ticker mark on the noise meter and the hopper kept making a beeline for me. Maybe the zombies run to where they last saw you? I can't remember, but it did not seem like the zombie cared that I broke its line of sight on me. Outside of a town though, it seems practically impossible to loose the zombies even whilst running through the forests and hills. Aside from hoppers/crawlers, the zombies move much faster than the players, making it very difficult to put any distance between them and the player, making it almost necessary to shoot them. It should be harder to break the line of sight when outside of town, but right now it seems nearly impossible. As for zombie spawns, I haven't had any issues aside from a stray zombie or two spawning and sprinting at me in a field when clearing out a barn. The video earlier in the thread though, with the German commentary, that is just ridiculous. Overall, a very nice addition to the mod. Much more challenging and forces a different style of play in the beginning, a style that is much more fun.

    Help this complete n00b

When you're bleeding, open your inventory and right click on a bandage and left click on "Bandage Myself" or whatever it says. Right clicking on most things in the inventory will enable its action if it is applicable. For example, if you right click on a water bottle anywhere that can't provide you fresh water, it will say something like "Find a fresh water source to fill your bottles." But if you are near a lake/pond/water pump and click "Fill Water" it will say " X Bottles of water have been filled" where X is the number of previously empty bottles you had in your inventory (not backpack). For things like maps and compasses, your watch, GPS, you can press (by default) the "M" key and it will open the map with all the aforementioned gear on display as well. If you're in the field and wish to check your compass or watch then you can press the "K" and "O" keys, respectively, to have them pop on screen. I think there is a key for the GPS, I just don't know it.

    GPS/Map Distances

This should tell you everything you need to know about using maps and GPS's in Arma/DayZ: http://www.zspecialunit.org/showthread.php?512-Arma-2-Map-Reading

    Changing character name?

Just create a new profile on the main menu when you start up Combined Operations. Once created and selected, the active profile's name should be in one of the corner's of the screen.

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon

YES Make it a temporary thing. If, after some time, players really hate it, revert back to how it is now. I'd like to give it a shot.

Will it run on my laptop? (system specs inside)

My friend has similar specs (faster processor) and he said that the Arma2 Demo ran horrendously, completely unplayable. I do not recommend playing it with that laptop.
