You can try these two things, but I think the problem lies with the graphics card. I had a 9800 GT and I played ArmA with it prior to upgrading. I had to turn everything down to medium or lower to get any real playability, which was only about 10-15 FPS anyway. 1. In the launch parameters add -winxp. Winxp allows the game to take advantage of multi-core CPU's. Your -cpucount=4 line might not be recognized by the game or something, IDK. 2. Disable post-processing effects. Easily the biggest cause of frame drops in-game. I think I gained an extra 5-10 frames from changing my settings from low to very low. I haven't completely disabled PPE's yet because I'm getting decent frames, but I imagine going from low to disabled would yield some nice results.

This has been said before, but I'm left scratching my head as to why this hasn't been implemented yet. I found a helicopter crash site yesterday and happened to come across the FN FAL ANPV S4. Awesome gun, but just about useless because it has one clip of ammo and ammo can only be found at another crash site. As if that weren't bad enough, the gun is totally useless on day servers as the scope is stuck in night vision.

My group has found 4 ATV's, 2 bikes and a van over the last week or so. We weren't pussies about and said, "OMG, we have to get this out of the map ASAP." We actually used the vehicles. One such instance was a raid on the NW airfield which resulted in my death and the loss of an ATV. We also used the van to raid Cherno. After that, we parked the van and the ATV at different locations, INSIDE THE MAP. The van was either eaten by a server error or taken by a player. The ATV is still in the same spot, at least it was last time I checked. Vehicles are meant to be used, not taken outside of the map and hoarded.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
TheProphecy replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I definitely like most of the ideas. I do have a concern, however, and I don't know if it's been touched on yet, as 23 pages is a lot to read. If all of these ideas were somehow implemented, think of the bag space required just to maintain yourself now. Wood, bandages, antibiotics, morphine, epi-pens, painkillers and alcohol/peroxide would all become mandatory. That's 8 slots right there for one of each, 7 in the main inventory, 1 in the secondary. Then we need food and water, another two main inventory slots at least. Next up is ammo. I can only see having like 3 clips max, as those medical supplies would take up a ton of bag space. Then we have misc items like tin cans, flares, chemlights. These already get skipped over for lack of bag space already. Can't imagine a lot of people picking them up with these proposed changes. Finally, we have vehicle parts. Vehicles sound like they would be vital to survival with these changes. We all know how many spaces vehicle parts take up. So with this in mind, would you propose any changes to the pack system? -
Two nights running now. Last night there were missiles raining down in Elektro. Not sure if it was from a jet or a helicopter, didn't hear or see anything other than the missiles. Tonight was even worse. Logged in to someone complaining of a HIND. Didn't see anything after like an hour of playing, but I ended up dying. Respawned in Elektro, Huey and a tank rampaging through the town. The hackers went from Cherno to Elektro it seemed, as I was killed in both cities. Respawned in some different areas, the hangars were gone in Balota and various buildings were destroyed in Berezino. Kept running north past Khelm and then boom, everyone on the server is dead. Shut down the game and now I'm typing this. Two nights in a row, seems to happen from around 8 or so EST until at least 2AM. Not sure what this will accomplish, but here it is.

Deny saving tents/vehicles outside of map.
TheProphecy replied to Paah (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
LOL at people trying to defend this. They are obviously the clowns with tents and vehicles outside the map right now. Hiding shit outside the map is a pussy move, period. My group came across some vehicles over the last few days. We tried hiding them in the map, they wound up getting taken. Of course it sucks, but such is life in the zone. You can't expect to live forever, so why does it make any sense to find a car and have it in your possession for a month? Grow some balls, put your shit in the map and if you're so scared about it getting taken, you're already breaking the golden rule of dayz (not getting attached to your items). Since you're that scared, post sentries to watch your camp at all times. You guys obviously have a sickening level of determination in order to not only find a spot way off outside the map, but walk to it multiple times everyday. -
Since it didn't seem like anyone actually went to the server to confirm/deny this, I did it myself. It's definitely there, as evident by the pictures. Broke my legs on one of those damn sandbags. :) Obvious use of duping or item spawning.

THE PVP QUESTION- fixed with earned perks!!!
TheProphecy replied to kumiiyo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
@Ada 1. In what world does it make any sort of sense to find high powered military weapons at a fire station? You should find common weapons like the Winchester there, nothing more. As for deer stands, if you want to leave the ability to spawn mid-level guns like an AK, I guess that's alright, but again, why does it make sense to find high powered military weapons there? Also, most PvP whiners complain about getting killed near the coast, not in an area where you find military gear. I already mentioned how more time spent finding something like a DMR = less time sniping respawners at Cap Golova, but I guess you didn't get that. 2. The area would be lit up with flares or something, making it visible and not just like finding a needle in a haystack. And this went hand-in-hand with the idea to add more loot to small towns. There's no reason to go to a town like Orlovets, Shakhovka, Tulga, etc. By increasing loot spawns in those areas (or at least making them easier to get to), players would go there and the surrounding area, where the random forest drops come into play. 3. IDK, a compound off in the woods somewhere guarded by military NPC's. The soldiers themselves have mid to high level weapons and then they could be guarding something like a vehicle that doesn't spawn anywhere else. That's just an idea, but the overall concept is common sense. Give people more to do and they'll do it. -

Emissions - forces players indoors every few hours

This. Also, why do these emissions occur? They are explained in STALKER, but what's the explanation behind their occurrence in DayZ? -
THE PVP QUESTION- fixed with earned perks!!!
TheProphecy replied to kumiiyo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I will agree that there is a PvP problem, although it's not nearly as bad as the whiners make it seem. I do not agree with your perk based solution, however. I believe the PvP problem stems from a couple of things that can easily be fixed. 1. Military loot - There's too much of it, and I don't know how anyone could deny it. Remove military loot spawns from fire houses and deer stands. Lower the spawn rate of all other military loot spawns by 50% or so. 2. Giving players a reason to explore - Right now, we have 0 reason to run around in a forest other than the hope of finding a group's camp. The fix is simple. Use a crashed helicopter-like event that drops supplies not only in forests, but around the entire map. Threads have been made suggesting loot washing up on shore, crashed food trucks/ambulances/military vehicles/boats, etc. Also in this category would be giving players a reason to go into small towns. Small towns are a waste of map space right now. It's been said in many topics, but just add some loot spawns on the road/in front of buildings. This way, if someone is looking to hit up a town for food/water, they don't have to bypass 3-4 small towns in order to hit a medium/large town. 3. Give geared players something to do - So, here's a situation that many players find themselves in. I have a good gun, plenty of ammo and food/water/medical supplies. I don't need to hit up NWA/NEA/deer stands or Stary unless I want to hoard loot and put it in a tent. If I don't want to hoard, I can either wander aimlessly in search of a vehicle, run around the wilderness and enjoy the view or go and kill people. Killing people seems to be the popular mindset of most players. Give geared players something to do and you'll see less DMR wielding clowns sniping freshly spawned players near Cap Golova. To recap: Less military loot floating around means more time finding it, which in turn means less geared players hunting people down in Cherno/Elektro. More loot spawns in small towns and random events across the map means less geared players hunting people down in Cherno/Elektro. Giving geared players more reasons to stay away from Cherno/Elektro is self explanatory. -
This 100%. Instead of adding another griefing tool, how about adding some actual loot spawns to small towns? Right now, the giant map is being reduced to a few cities and military areas. Or how about giving players the incentive to explore the wilderness? Downed helicopters are awesome, so why not build on that and have other random events that spawn loot in other areas? Most of the action will still take place in the major cities and military areas, but at least now people would have some reason to stray from that routine other than taking in the scenery. Also, people whine about PvP every few minutes on these boards. They want to understand the logic of the person with the DMR who sniped them in Cherno/Elektro for kicks. Well, here it is: What else is there to do? Right now, the goal of most players is simply to find decent starter gear and then hit Stary/NWA/NEA/deer stands until they find good gear. What is there to do when you're geared up besides kill other players and find cars? I certainly can't think of anything else. The mod doesn't need to be turned into an MMO with quests as some people have suggested, but players need other options when they're geared up.
-
Even without duping, this is mainly used simply to grief other players. I have seen it used as it's supposed to be, but only rarely. I feel the combination of these three ideas would give barbed wire some real use. 1. Lower the spawn rate. IDK what the spawn rate is now, but my group came across like three kits raiding a factory earlier. Reduce it by at least half. 2. Require the toolkit in order to place in addition to remove. 3. Zombies can't walk through it. This can't be implemented right now because of points 1 and 2 and of course duping. With these changes, I feel like barbed wire would have a use in groups who want to farm a loot spawn by locking down the entrances. Lowering the spawn rate and requiring a toolkit would get rid of most of the griefers IMO, leaving only those who plan to use it correctly. Also, just to be clear, blocking the entrances to a building will not turn it into a safe zone where zombies don't spawn. Zombies would still spawn as they normally do, they just wouldn't be able to pass through the barbed wire. Possible alternative to zombies not being able to pass through - Zombies die when they come in contact with the barbed wire. Once enough zombies die due to the barbed wire (20 or so), it disappears.
-
1. Lower military loot spawns. No military loot in deer stands/fire houses. 2. Roaming packs of zombies. 3. More random events like helicopter crashes.
-
I would love to see a global wipe, but only when duping is 100% dealt with and the ability to save tents/cars outside of the map is gone as well.

Variation of Crashed Helicopters: Military Tents & Other Things
TheProphecy replied to Merk1b2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'll review your points and give my thoughts. 1. Sounds good. 2. I would say the loot should be reduced drastically, not slightly. I'm thinking reducing the loot chance of all military items by at least half. Also, fire stations/other non-military areas need to stop spawning military loot. 3-6. IDK about this one. It wouldn't seem to make much sense to me if I'm in a forest, hit a clearing and see a bunch of military tents in the middle of an open field. What I would propose instead is what DemonGroover had in mind. In addition to crashed food trucks, maybe there could be a convoy of crashed military vehicles or something. The area would be littered with dead soldiers and a bunch of zombies, maybe like 10 or something per crashed vehicle. Each crashed vehicle would spawn a random military weapon with 3+ clips. I like the idea to make the world less static, though. I think most of the problems people complain about (not bugs/glitches) can be traced back to how static/predictable the world is. -

Ambulance Spawns and/or 2-3 More Hospitals.
TheProphecy replied to Ctrl-Alt-Rage's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The ambulance would be cool, so long as there isn't a ton of loot. Maybe a bunch of medical supplies scattered and a medical box. No to the more hospitals idea. There are four in the game already, plus medical tents and there's also a small chance to find medical supplies at most military loot drops. The hospitals already in-game are right along the coast as well, making them extremely easy to hit up once you spawn. -
Add possible loot spawns in front of every building
TheProphecy replied to drayson's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree wholeheartedly. There are allegedly a bunch of loot spawns at any given town, but they are tied to doghouses or something stupid. In reality, the majority of the loot comes from enterable buildings, which small towns usually have one or two of, if they even have one at all. Since we have such a limited amount of enterable buildings, small town loot should be spread out either on dead bodies as you mentioned (although this could cause performance issues I think) or just in front of some buildings you can't enter. Worth mentioning, this type of loot should be limited to basic items like food/water, bandages, matches (rare), hatchets, crowbars, maps (very rare) and possibly ammo for common weapons like the Makarov, Winchester or Double-Barrel Shotgun. -
