No global chat thanks, ruins the atmosphere and people troll/give away positions and just ruins the game
-
Yeah... I would just build a new one from scratch

I did use the search and nothing came up, yes I know wildlife is confirmed, although I have never heard of predatory animals that could be a threat. No need to be a dick about it. Please link me to these other posts.

M14? Whaaaa? You mean the M4 right? Please don't get my hopes up...

Anyone else mad about hackers shooting through walls?
kermo50 replied to soapsalesman's topic in General Discussion
Just yesterday I witnessed a fuel station exploding repeatedly, not sure what the go was but I assumed it was a hacker. I sort of thought the whole reason they took this long to get the SA out was to build a systems which prevented it... Although don't forget desync and lag can cause this sort of thing too (proabably not though) so you may have been shot before you entered the building. -
Not sure if the damage is working for the long range scope yet, when the psu scope is damaged the glass is all cracked and really hard to use so I would imagine the long range one would give a similar effect if damage was working on it.

DayZ: Ultra realism Vs Balanced game design... This seems to be a conman theme in a lot of threads, arguments that are based on realism or ones for a balanced more enjoyable, fun game. Thought it would make a good poll. What do you guys think?

Sometimes I aim for the legs, means most of their gear won't be damaged when you pry it from their cold dead fingy's

What is the most nasty, evil behaviour you have been responsible for while in the world of DayZ? I personally like to take ALL the can openers I find and dropping them in the bush just to deny others access to their beens!!! So when you can't find that precious can opener you can think of me..

They simply should not be able to have a reset that quickly, I would argue for a minimum of 2 hours before a reset. Also how long is it going to take to put in a way to deter server hoping? So annoying!
-
What exactly is your upgraded specs? I haven't had an issue with frames and my pc isn't that impressive. Make sure you have ambient occlusion off, it uses like 15-20 frames
-
You should, in the future, be able to kneel and use your bipod on a ledge. Can't really think of a reason why you shouldn't be able too and I wouldn't think it would be all that difficult to add to the game. You should be able utilize it while standing or crouched on any reasonable surface.

The amount of people up north is TOO DAMN LOW.
kermo50 replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
I think once vehicles are added you will see more people up north. It's sort of good if you make the effort at the moment though there is so much loot to be had up there! Also with the current spawns even Balota is a fair hike. Also people are server hopping instead of being forced to travel and look elsewhere for loot. -
I usually start trying to handcuff hostages or harassing people. I recently force fed disinfectant to a gunman after capturing him at NWAF, we let him go without his weapon and looted some buildings and 15 mins later found him unconscious pleading for help next to the water well in Vibor, so of course we shot him and took the rest of his valuables... Good times were had by all...

I usually don't have much trouble finding them, I have found them in all of the locations above. I regularly find them on school roofs or in cars, sometimes they are hard to see in cars because they spawn sunk into the seats a bit. I have always found at least one and sometimes two going through Novy and Stary Sobor. But yeah you just have to be willing to look everywhere as they can spawn in any civilian building.

haha this is great, happend to me 3 times in the tower at NEAF a couple of days ago, if you hear a reload noise chances are someone has spawned in near you..

I was discussing this idea with a couple of friends and thought I'd put it out there for discussion. In my personal opinion gillie suits in dayz should be very rare and very difficult to acquire, I personally don't want to see the game turn into a snipe fest like it was in the mod with everyone wearing gillie's and shooting people with op'd snipers from 1k away... If you like doing that that's cool but I think you should be forced to put in a lot of time and effort to find a high powered rifle (I know it's been said that there will be no AS50's thank god) and even more so with a gillie suit. Also I believe if gillies are craft-able only the player who crafted it should be able to wear it (since it would be custom fitted to the persons size). Here is a list of some items that could be required to construct a gillie suit and some possible spawn locations; - A green jumpsuit, found at military areas - Fishing line, around ports (to sew it together) - Sewing needle, found in civilian areas - Green netting, could either found at ports as fishing net or in military areas as camo netting - Burlap sacks (multiple) - Earthy colored dyes, found in civilian area's (to color the burlap sacks camo colors) - Earthy colored spray paints, found in industrial area's (adds finishing touches to camo) - Peaked hat - Shoe glue, found in industrial area's - Camo face paint (not required for to craft suit) - You could also add a thicker cloth/canvas into the list for knee, elbow & chest pads I know that is a lot of items but it's just an idea, items could be taken away or added for balance but if you want realism I would go for something like this (from what I've seen and read). Making it craft-able with items such as this will be another reason for players to team up and help each other because gathering up the materials wouldn't be easy. Thoughts?

Should Gillie suits be a craft-able item only?
kermo50 replied to kermo50's topic in General Discussion
Penalties seem like a good idea to me too, as long as they are realistic or at least plausible... -
I wonder how many people who voted for more realism, turn their brightness and gamma up when they play at night
-
I have heard that it you only get the sick message after using some kind of treatment, eg using alcohol to clean wounds will bring it up and the when they are clean it will go away (same with antibiotics). Not sure if it's intended or a bug.. So you don't know your sick until you treat yourself.
-
Agreed, another thought would this level of realism even be technically possible? I know this is different from someone's opinion of an ideal DayZ but it's still relevant.
-
There are currently servers that only allow first person. I think this May have been what he was referring to?

I really like the op's ideas. + 1 -
Should Gillie suits be a craft-able item only?
kermo50 replied to kermo50's topic in General Discussion
I believe they are pretty much confirmed by someone searching through the games files, can't seem to find that thread at the moment. If anyone could link it for me that would be appreciated. -
Maybe they could use "hardcore" servers for those who want this extra realism and challenge...
