Will this new zombie ai improve things like the zombies seeing you from 1000m away and running across vast distances to kill you? Or will you be able to break their line of sight and get to safety?

So yesterday my friends and I are moving in on the NEAF in order to try to gain some more gear. We are using binoculars to check the area and we see someone in the two story building looting, so we decide to move in and ambush them when they leave. We get into position and the doors open and we open fire, my friend had an M4 and he strikes one player inside the building, I have an SKS and I am shooting at a player sprinting towards the hangers. I don't think I hit my target, but we know we hit the player inside. We moved in on the building and entered only to find the building empty. So we assume this person combat logged. We began looting and another friend joins us inside the building and he is standing up in the room upstairs with the bunk beds when he gets shot from what we presume is the control tower. We immediately go into a defensive position I with my SKS at the bottom of the stairs looking at the doors, and my friend at the top of the stairs with his M4. We then hear a voice tell us to "come out with our hands up". And my friend tells them no, you come in and get us. There is a lot of dialog that goes on between them, and finally the guy outside decides he's done talking and wants to kill us. So they move up near the door and I shoot one and wound him. Then they fire random shots inside to get me to move back and he takes a position inside the doorway. He moved up enough that I was able to get two shots into him with the SKS and he died, he was however able to hit me and my arm was broken and I was bleeding. I bandaged myself and reloaded my SKS for what I assumed was going to be a long standoff. I saw this players dead body in the doorway so I tried to get close enough to loot him for his M4 and I was shot and killed by one of the guys outside. Yep, that was a mistake. Shortly after all of this takes place my friend with the M4 who is prone at the top of the stairs yells out "I'm dead!", and I'm like WTF how? And he said, I don't know but I'm dead. I should also mention this was a hardcore server. So this brings me to a couple of questions: 1. Did one of their players log out of this server, join another server run inside the building, log out and rejoin our server in order to have the advantage? If so, is this something that is going to be addressed? Because we felt we had the tactical advantage over them, and they used an unfair tactic to beat us. 2. Did the original players combat log out of that building, and is there anymore that can be done to prevent this from happening? 3. Am I correct that the airfields and military bases are PVP hostile areas? So our initial attack should have been acceptable? Thanks for reading my long post, still love this game and the exciting interactions that take place!

That's a good point. My buddies didn't want to engage them, but I did. Next time we will negotiate with them for their beans :)

That is beautiful :beans:

I'm new to DayZ, and I started out playing the game as I would in real life, being friendly and looking to hook up with someone to survive with. I learned very quickly after being restrained, stripped, force fed rotten fruit, and beaten with an axe that there are very few friendly people in this game. As Skeety points out, you can become friends with someone only for them to turn on you and kill you in a blink of an eye. I now run only with people I know in real life and that I can trust because nobody else can be. Just last night I'm playing solo in a small town in the middle of nowhere when two guys come across me, I had no weapons out only a blaze on my back. One found me hiding on the side of a house and I said "hi" to him, he then fired at me luckily missing. I was able to kill him and wound his friend, but they killed me in the process. I admit I have had a couple of nice interactions with people wanting to help one another, but I won't stick with them for too long because eventually they turn on you.

We were in the West building and he was prone at the top of the stairs. So I'm not sure if you can get an angle from the control tower, or possibly from the mountain top. Agreed. If you have played BF4 when you are preparing to spawn in on your squad mates you get a warning when your squad is under fire. So why couldn't they implement something that says you cannot spawn in because there is an active firefight in this area, and perhaps give you an option to spawn someplace else. I know it breaks the immersion a bit, but it's better than someone "ghosting" and having an unfair advantage. *Edit* Just saw Bororm's post that Rocket has a possible fix for ghosting http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/198544-rocket-on-ghosting-vs-barricadingbases/

 Well, they knew there were only two of us in there and one of the two on the bottom floor. So maybe they thought it was worth taking the chance against only one player? Could have been a lag issue maybe, I guess we will never know. Thanks for your thoughts

I like the idea of a player "in combat" while shots are being fired. That forces that player to escape the area or to engage the threat rather than just log off their computer <_<

Thanks for the reply Odin. I would say this entire interaction was around 30 minutes from the time we engaged the first two leaving the building to the time we were killed off. We moved inside the building cautiously, and searched the rooms in which the doors were closed. My buddy said after he was killed the person was standing over the top of him putting extra bullets in his head, and there's no way a person came up those stairs. Also, 199 seconds is only 3 1/2 minutes. I appreciate what your saying, but it doesn't seem like there is enough in place to prevent combat logging and using this type of exploit. Either way, we are learning this great game and all the good and bad that comes with it. Next time we will be more prepared for our conflict. B)

I currently play with three others, and the way we do it is spawn in the game and our priority is to determine where we are. We do this by locating signs and translating them using the map JMocks posted, or by using landmarks. Then we gather what we need and decide where to meet, preferably inland to avoid conflict with other players and off we go. Most of the time we will meet inside of a church.

Hello, my name is Andrew aka "Na5h3r". I have around 24 hours playing DayZ SA and I truly suck at it :) But I love the game anyway, I'm looking forward to more updates especially updating the zombies. Hope to see some of you out there :beans:
