Howdy Ho Buckaroo's and Buckettes!! Stand by folks because in the next few weeks there should be some announcements coming this way. We hope to have a twitter account and a forum (so you can talk with us). Please donate so YOU keep US in the top 15 servers! And remember, if you find a cheater, it really helps to have video evidence. -
Possibly not all crash spawns are working in stable servers... Got extremely lucky this morning. Found a truck straight away when spawning in. Server had 2-4 people in it at any one time. Decided to take the truck and explore every crash site on the map, which took about an hour and a half. I didn't hit the two between Zaprudnoe and NWAF because server went down. I found only one American at NWAF. No other crash site had a crashed helo. Those sites I couldn't get the truck to or a hard time getting it there I simply jumped out and ran. I was within 50 metres of every site listed on the map. All the crash sites from Sinistok to Pavlovo to Kozlovka to Pulkovka to Grishino spawned no crash sites. Not sure if server was Persistence off or on because it wasn't listed.

How about a spoon? Did the people of Chenarus eat with their fingers before they all died? Blanket? Scissors? Candles? Socks? Coffee filters? Milk/water jugs? Air freshener for when everyone eats beans? There are a lot of everyday items we could use in a survival situation. Keep the list growing.

Clarification on "Base Building"
Barbosa1955 replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
What good is a "fortress" when you can't pick it up every Tuesday and lose all your loot and the fortress? So you can start rebuilding it Wednesday? -
What has been your biggest "I'm done" moment?
Barbosa1955 replied to aquamonkey's topic in General Discussion
Nothing really made me rage quit...yet. Got pretty pissed off on so many occasions, though...to many to list here. But what's going to be a deal breaker with this game is taking way to long to get 100% persistence. Having tents is great. But having to pick them up every Tuesday night and losing all the stash I've picked up for the week is getting real old. Planting gardens 4 times per month is getting old. Having the Devs give us a multitude of ways to kill each other is fine and dandy. Eventually, I'll rage over what I perceive is the Devs priorities are different than mine...which is a survival oriented game...that won't let me keep the things I've striven for to survive on a long term basis. With 930 hours into this game and nothing to show for it is enough reason to rage...let alone quit. -
Problem with this merge is that I don't think the game is shit and want my money back.

The point is to survive, right? Well, let me digress for a moment... Been playing this for almost a year now (January). No other game gives me such an adrenaline rush. But over a year there's been no real change pertaining to the point of the game. Today I and my group lost a great deal of loot due to this Patch .51. We were prepairing for long term survival, but no longer. And really, the devs give us all kinds of guns and clothes, but we lose drinking from wells and magazines for said guns. Every time we get a patch we get something and lose something. Remember M4's? Crash sights? FNX's? And what's with boots wearing out in a day? But I really don't care much about that. Here's what really counts: If this game can't have total and true persistence, then I'm not coming in to empty a tent every Tuesday night and hold it for Wednesday morning. And I'm certainly not going to lose all my loot every time there's a patch. As of this moment, I see no reason to play this game as it was originally designed. When true persistence comes along, when I can put a tent down and fill it up and have dry bags stashed around the map and it all stays there for a whole year, I'll come back. -
How ironic. A ceasefire to celebrate the very first zombie's birthday. No ceasefire for me, though. Not one superstitious bone in my body. Dec. 25 is just another day in DayZ...

Would natural gas pipelines work in Case of Apocalypse?
Barbosa1955 replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
Yup, at least where I come from we call them "pigs". I don't know why...lol Yes, they would function as long as there is no leak in the tank or pipe to the appliance. A propane tanker would be able to fill the pigs. I'm not sure they could fill (right sort of fittings) the small 20lb tanks like one uses on their BBQ. -

Barbosa1955 replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
More than likely not. Read up on differences between Liquid Natural Gas, Compressed Natural Gas and Liquid Petroleum Gas (Propane). Not to mention the failsafes in production of said gases including storage and transportation. About the only things you will get natural gas or propane from in a SHTF scenario are from the "pigs"; those gas tanks you see in people's yards. And these are reflected in the game. Once the pig is empty, you'll never be able to fill it again unless you find a working tank truck. Whether or not the Devs will implement this is beyong my knowledge. -

I want to thank everyone for their replies. Many were quite informative. And thanks to those that "liked" my posts. But since I posted last, one of my friends had picked up the small tent (before Wednesday reboot" and when he came back into the server the next day, the tent was gone. Just disappeared. Last night I found a military tent. And honestly, I have no use for the thing. Not until total, or near total persistence comes out. I have around 900 hours invested in this game...that's roughly 2.5 hours per day averaged out. And I have absolutely nothing to show for it. So me and my M4 and AKM and military tent are going to take a really long sabatical. Hopefully when I decide to come back and play I'll still have it all. Good luck to everyone. -

This is where I disagree. The point of the game is to survive and that's what I plan to do. -

Slap me for what most folks are thinking? My posts so far have been nothing but constructive criticism. I've alreat had 4 friends leave this game and I know each one personally. I'm the only oldout. I really really like this game, and as I've said in a previous post, this game has so much potential. So when you find the words, I'd like to hear them. -

Because with a game such as this, with so much potential going for it, it seems that after two years Alpha it would be much farther along than it is. There really is no sense to play a survival oriented game when your caches disappear every week and you're forced to forage once again. There's 52 weeks in a year. That means you choose a tent or food 52 times a year. Tents have been out for only 2 months and already it monotonous. -

I understand that as well...Well...maybe I don't. I'm not a programmer. Yet, I can't see how the Devs give us things and after various patches some things go away. I don't understand how something works fine for months and then doesn't work after a patch. I don't understand that if the game is survival oriented why a character and itens he carries can move from server to server and yet a tent and its belongings do not, even if I'm in it. What makes sense to me is to get 100% persistence going and then add items. But maybe it doesn't work that way. I'm not bashing the Devs or programmers. But I think after 2 years 100% persistence should at least be up and rolling. It sure would save us gamers a lot of grief and useless running around to kit back up. Hopefully this post will answer most of those replies to me. -

Enlighten me, if you please. -
Goal = The end toward which effort is directed. Game goal = stay alive. A shallow and fatal precept of the game (pun not intended). It seems now the game's goal is nothing but: A scavenger hunt (effort)To stay alive (end) In an anarchic scenarioFor those that suffer sociopathic tendencies at best to psychopathic tendencies at worst which easily allows them to prey on other players and make anything suffer to satiate selfish and sadistic desires they have (ultimate goal). So where are the overall goals? If just staying alive is the goal, I can stay alive for quite some time all by myself in the boonies. But what fun is that? If joining a good or bad clan to take over various parts of the map, well...that will get old quickly. This game, as it stands now is nothing but a shooter with no controls or goals and with the greatest potential for turf wars. Is this what the dev's really had in mind?

Hi all, The game begins somewhat unrealisticly. If you think about the game set up, about 1/4 of one percent of the population is gone (40 people to a server). Where are all the bodies of the rest of the population? There is much too little food and items in larger cities. You can't tell me that there's only a few cans of food, an orange, a banana and rotten kiwi's and a couple fire axes in a large town, for example. Why are there M4's and not AK's and so few of them in a military base? Why are there 2 bandages in a hospital when you should be able to find thousands of them? After my first 5 hours of play: Forcefully handcuffed and IV started by two other rifle armed players (my buddy and I had axes). Because they didn't ask and forced themselves, I exited out before they could harm me. Had to respawn numerous times due to: Game/server issues (left spawn point several times only to be sent back to spawn point and losing everything I had picked up along the way)fell off a buildingwalked into a room and killed by another player armed with a rifle Thoughts... Work into the game where we can make a cache point. That way, whatever the means we must respawn, we can go back to the cache and pick up some stuff.add name markers tied to a players account. this way we can keep track of friendlies and baddies.find us an easy way to remember servers (may already be this way but I haven't found out yet)Allow at least a 4 member team to spawn togetherOver all, my first experience was a $30 bust. However, the game seems that it could be fun and has a great deal of potential. I am intrigued and will contiue to play. Thanks, Barbosa

First experience and a few comments otherwise
Barbosa1955 replied to Barbosa1955's topic in New Player Discussion
There are goals and I have a chance to win in War Thunder. Stuff you have gets upgraded as well. And when I lose a game, I don't have to start all over again. I didn't have to do that in Red Orchestra either. DayZ goes nowhere with the only exception being you get to start all over again, most of the time within a 24hr period. And for your time spent playing, you have nothing to show for it. You've done nothing but participate in a big and lethal scavenger hunt and you will do over and over and over again. There is positively no sense of accomplishment in this game as it is now. -
Some decent replies here...thanks. I guess my goal now is to wait a couple of weeks to see if they fix the broken chain link respawn without all my gear. Happened twice in an hour today and twice more yesterday. Still, if all we have to look forward to is to respawn numerous times because we have been killed by numerous means and numerous times.....I really don't think this is a game for me. I can watch my puppy chase her tail around and around...pretty much like this game.

What the title says. I just played 13 hours...the game glitched and me and my friend lost all our equipment. If we could save as well as the server, this won't happen.

Server side and player side saves
Barbosa1955 replied to Barbosa1955's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The Alpha excuse wears thin. This is a public server issue, not game software. However, this morning when I started the game up, my character was back as he was just before the broken chain link appeared and my friends were skating around the building -
Friendly people don't murder other people. Therefore, why not set up a Top 100 list of douche bags with the most player kills and have a bounty put on them? This would allow, by their mindset, various murderers go after other murderers and would award them with various items. While they're at it, their kills go up and they get placed farther up the list! Then us sociable folk can go about our business staying alive and not get killed for an crowbar and a tin of tuna.
