Currently my character has been alive for about 5 to 6 weeks with over 250 hours under my belt and I do frequent high traffic areas and dangerous glitch spots, but i wouldn't call myself a pro though. I guess the trick is to see other people first and dont provoke a fight unless engaged by the opposing party, keep to cover at all times, know your surroundings and dont go looking for trouble: if you dont need to be in ELektro or Cherno or any of the airfields, dont go there. Also when your about to enter a town , first check the spots you would go to to check a town from a distance as other people might be having the same idea as you and are currently checking the town for movement. Example: On monday i was in/near Elektro and my buddies where near/in Dolina, so i went to them only to come to the town of mishta (directly south of Dolina, i saw movement about 500 mtrs away and immediatly took cover: the guy running , ran into the woods , stopped at the treeline and turned around to watch the town, not checking left or right from him , but just the town. I could have shot him without him ever seeing me, BUT i didn't for a couple of reasons: why was he checking the town? was there somebody else around he was giving overwatch for? Did he get shot and is he now looking for his attacker?Do i need any of his stuff? Normally when i leave a town i dont go and watch it for 10 minutes: i take the way with the most cover, turn around once to do one small check and then disappear into the woods, he ran straight through open field to the treeline. Hide/take cover above the tree line, the tree line is what people check first Gasmasks make you stand out like a sore thumb. Get iether the courier bag or the improvised backpack, i have been using it since stable and even with food with me i have enough room for all the other stuff. You dont need several hundred bullets: i have seen people carrying around allmost a 1000 5.56 only to be killed with 1 shot of my mosin in a medium range fight which they instigated. If your using a mosin , take both a pu and LRS along: PU for close and medium range engagements and the LRS for Medium plus to Longe range engagements. If you 1st spawn, dont head inland directly...everybody else is allready doing that Get a compass. Get a sewing kit to repair damaged clothing that you might find and like, finding another might take sme time Oh and 1 more thing: Lean -
Was I really lucky or was this a stranger

What most likely happened is that a player with 2 rifles logged out there. The weapon that your holding will be dropped on the ground in front of you when logging out to be picked up by someone else or left where it was placed till server restart. This is a bug which i allready reported. -
I just searched the forum and couldn't find a clear answer to this. I noticed Dwarden stating in one thread that DayZ/Arma2/ToH uses UDP, but to my knowledge a lot of MMO's, online games and the likes use both. TCP for server info requests and UDP for game traffic. I have no knowledge of how the game is set up server/client wise , but if people are noticing a difference is there some form of TCP traffic? I'm having huge desync issues since yesterday for no real apparent reason other then a new virus scanner that was installed on another PC within the house and i'm trying to find out what the issue is and if its fixable

A small warning to one and all when dabbling with the improvised backpack: You have 2 forms: the courier one and the bigger improvised backpack one You create the bigger one from the courier bag by adding 1 more item, MAKE SURE YOU EMPTY THE COURIER BACKPACK FIRST, otherwise you'll lose all items left inside the courier bag -
Mosin can be loaded only with one bullet, is it normal?!
Wernsley (DayZ) replied to ghoust240's topic in General Discussion
Or maybe remove all attachments and ammo and then spray painting it. Remember that when you load a magn um for example and then drag the ammo away from the pistol again it only gives you 1 bullet -
Oh how i love sweet justice :KOSing crybaby

Sorry , i dont record my games for posterity. We had 2 burlaps to be used as new backpacks ...offcourse no rope to be found no where. That last part indeed is :) I must admit it took some planning to get everything to work near flawelessly , but we had some time to plan as we had to walk from the new town to where needed to be. I dropped my axe and so did my buddy to pick up the baseball bats and put them in the warehouse at the pier (the one with the containers around it). One lovely server reset or a hostile player encounter would have screwed our plan , so we were kinda lucky -
I'm normally very against killing on sight, but yesterday was fun. A friend and i were playing and another friend came online , but alas, unequiped as a new spawn, so we decided to head to him and he to us. While on team speak and heading his way he mentions he got shot and had to respawn, this went on for 3 or 4 more times and then we told him to lay low somewhere in a house, this was near elektro. When we came up to the city limits we saw a litteral bloodbath , dozens of dead new spawns lying around bleeding or dead , so we decided to have some fun ourselves. I went around the woods and told our new spawn friend to come out and be a bit in the open , while the other would get to a point where he can oversee several respawn points. We had to wait for about a minute when a mosin shot rang out and our newspawn friend was dead... and this was enough to pinpoint the dumbass. ! shot from my mosin lying down and he was dead. I ran to his corpse and sat in bushes about 10 mtrs away and waited, pistol out. My friend reported that the guy was heading out again to where his corpse was and took him out , the guy respawned and got taken out again, giving him a piece of his own medicine. by the 3rd time i told my friend on teamspeak he should let him walk , this was 6 minutes after i shot him. the guy arrived at his corpse i let him litteraly look at it , said "i see dead people" in a whispering voice and headshot him with my pistol 10 seconds later. Now the fun thing: he spawned right next to my newspawn buddy at a pier near solnitchy or something and started to cry and whine that he lost all his stuff and "those stupid KOSíng" assholes killed him, while he was crying there we led a few newspawns we picked up a bit south of solnitchy who had been shot by the guy in elektro , we burlapped them just before we got there and told them we had a suprise waiting for them, my buddy had found a few bats in surrounding houses and left them in the hanger like building. When we got there we removed the burlaps and told them to head into the warehouse to get the bats and told them the guy who shot them was on the pier. Newspawn buddy ran away and we watched through our scopes as the guy was beaten to unconsciousness a few times and then got axed by a guy who found a splitting axe in a nearby building. Moral of the story: what comes around , goes around

Wernsley (DayZ) replied to Wernsley (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Ehm no , why would i? For that matter i would much rather preffer that users running experimental branch release get an NDA to accept which runs until a few days after stable release so people cant release whats in the patch and let other find out for themselves in those few days. +edit+ And if your response is going to be "dont read those posts on the board", well thats would be possible if people didn't post what they found in the topic Thread title. -

Let me rephrase it then, because the point is pretty clear: main testing is ussually done before experimental and stable releases , what your testing is what features do when under load (at least thats what the best practises state for testing software) if i combine that with what Dean has said on monthly updates, i guess there is enough time to test the features Making it "harder"? i'd say making it more "fun" to test (and play a game) What do you do when playing? Do you try to combine stuff? try to use items on items? walk past the known map? See what accuracy a LRS has when badly damaged vs pristine? Or do you go ahead and try and find the best gear you can find and "hunt" "bambi's"? What i'm trying to say is that you can still test things and see how they work, maybe also turning this game a bit from a KoS fest that it sometimes is, to a sandbox survival game.
