Head and neck would be a 1-hit kill surely? Tbh I would have thought upper chest, neck and head should kill you in a single shot from it.

I used to start out by gearing up on lightly populated servers, but I just began to find it incredibly boring incredibly fast. You end up in a very solo world when you go about things that way. I have much more fun fresh spawning now in a full server and just dealing with the madness - though I will say this has gotten me shot in the head with no provocation MANY MANY times :P

Can you say 'Jam' :D Seriously though, that is a nutty looking thing heh

So how much of a thrill do you cheaters get when playing DayZ?
tinroofer replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Anyone who cheats/hacks etc you will always find is someone who is god-awful at the game, and most video games in general. These people literally couldn't play the game correctly even if they wanted to, else they would be roflstomped by everyone they meet of whatever skill level. Thankfully they usually have individually short lived game lifetimes.. -
Yeah, the movement can be a little irritating, even from an aesthetic perspective. While they just can't add in fully realistic movement because of just how cumbersome that sort of thing can be in video games/simulators when you're using mechanical keys and a mouse, I would like to see some sort of inertia added to the characters, and a system where say you burn calories at 300% rate or the like when you are shifting direction constantly.

You ARE going to die.

Its a lovely looking vest overall, though tbh, I think when it was baked down the polycount was left a little low... Does anyone know what the apparel asset's poly limits are in Dayz?

That's just a bad road to go down :P

Anyone else think DayZ should switch engines?
tinroofer replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Let's be honest, an engine swap at this point in time is pretty much a pipe-dream, unless you want to wait 2 years - assuming a decently sized dev team - to be back to exactly where things are now. I mean given what the Dayz engine can do - and at this point it really is the dayz engine, not the arma engine anymore, with so much having changed by this iteration - I think its a good compromise overall. Also, unless an engine has a fundamental design that just won't work for your project, you just make the changes to the engine where needed (most engines of a certain type these days at their most base levels are quite similar overall, its just how you implement them), you don't swap to a new engine and in the process of fixing one set of problems you create a load of others for yourself. -
Sometimes I wonder if I'm wasting my time getting a good distance from a town/airfield and sitting in some random bushes before logging out... Apparently not... It just seems like really bad luck OP, not a good buzz :(

When I don't run into someone suffering from borderline psychopathy who has me completely outgunned.... Thats usually a good day ;)

What EXACTLY does a server restart do In the DayZ Mod?
tinroofer replied to trinityphoenix's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Also, the colour blends to the background further increasing the difficulty in reading... -
I can't stop killing fresh spawns.
tinroofer replied to Smokey420 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Haha nice work OP, can't believe how many people are feeding the beast in here :D -

Glitched in the wall. Is there any way to get out?
tinroofer replied to Sistinas1973's topic in General Discussion
Well, apart from my curiosity which as it says above is why I asked... Nvm though, seems its more hassle than its worth. -
That's not the greatest idea if you plan on playing for an extended period, it will end up cramping up your thighs pretty badly, as I learned when I my dogs made a meal of the seat part of a chair I used to have. If its really annoying you, grab a cheap chair somewhere I would say

Glitched in the wall. Is there any way to get out?
tinroofer replied to Sistinas1973's topic in General Discussion
Though, via your method above, youtube is the lagswitch no? I'm just curious.. I dont really see a problem with people using any method that has no impact on other players to get themselves out of a glitch -
In fairness you initially cuffed him and put a bag on his head, the odds of that scenario working out well in the end were slim to none :D

What Do You Think About The Long Spawning Time ?
tinroofer replied to Sir Trolle's topic in General Discussion
I think they got it just right originally, but now it seems they've lowered it to 200 seconds I think I read? The only issue I've ever had with this is when you join a gimped out or lagfest server and have to drop out, then wait for the timer to get into a stable server, but hey, I'll take a small inconvenience occasionally over the server hopping madness that you used to see. -
Sounds like the server was having a mini-freakout :D

Server Admins - The in-ability to maintain and manage a server
tinroofer replied to ramsfan00's topic in General Discussion
Indeed, currently server admin is a pretty rough prospect. Also, the fact that you need to use some awful provider and 3rd party $/slot service to get on the public hive doesn't help. I know this is to maintain a consistent experience across servers for everyone as per the persistent nature of the game, but the current providers who are allowed the dedicated server software are pretty poor overall bar one or two. Also those web interfaces for server control some of the providers are awful for the most part. I'd like if you were allowed setup a personal server - adhering to the rules of course - and submit it for review to be added to the public hive if it meets certain requirements. I know this would leave even more room for admin abuse and the like, but when people using hacks have seemingly greater control on a server than the admin, it might be time to re-evaluate how things are run. Its pretty harsh that people with access to business servers, (or even home half-rack units with 500 mbit connections) cant get the dedicated server files and run a server they really have control over. -
Imagine if we pulled this off for a couple of hours (er lol!).
tinroofer replied to mooky32's topic in General Discussion
Yes! Loving it. It would be great if you could get a little more control over the servers to keep things in line, but as that's not really an option at the moment, I think just getting the right people involved would probably do. I think it would be very interesting to see how the dynamic of two towns/groups would play out. On one hand I'm visualising a "Woodbury assaults the prison" style battle, but at the same time it could turn into a sort of partnership where you could have things like shooting competitions between the groups or "party at town A tonight" with much drinking an song.... though that could end rather poorly lol. Keep me in mind if you do get things going on that front. Would like to be involved/help out, seems like it could be a really nice change of pace.
