    Rethink Reloading

I take back my previous post on the first page and think this would be a better way of reloading than I said before. When you reload you dont drag the bullets into your gun. You drag them into your hands and have to manually load each round individually by pressing "F" for each round. That way in the middle of reloading you can stop and react to an enemy if needed and keep the rounds you have already loaded.Plus by being able to reload with your hands, you can now hot key a pile of bullets and reload via the hotbar, by pressing "F" for each round you load.Maybe the timing between each bullet press would have to be evenly spaced to load it the fastest and if you double click to fast when loading, you fumble and drop a bullet? Then (and this part is a big maybe) for the mosin you could physically click on the bolt itself and drag it back and forth in the L shape manually.

I agree. I also think that when you reload that you dont drag the bullets into the gun. DayZ should have an inventory similiar to CoP

The inventory is one of the things that isn't in need of fixing. I love the "pocket" system and how each article of clothing has it's own set of slots based off of the type of clothing you have. The only changes I would like to see done to the inventory is separate the slots based off of individual pocket size instead of grouping them all together. This thread explains what I mean: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/172733-clothing-pockets-separate-the-inventory-slots/

Changelog and patchnotes at the menu.

    I agree with that.
  6. Cans should definitely not disappear, I completely agree with this. Can can be used to boil water or possibly catch rain water in the future. I feel it's just to help performance atm and will change later. Maybe the reason for the bug that leaves the cans at 0% in your inventory is because they are supposed to stay but have been temporarily disabled until performance is gained. Possibly like the bayonet glitch? Though I doubt that bug has anything to do with performance.

    Door Opening System

I know there has been a few suggestions about opening doors quietly and or bashing doors open. I was thinking of a system that allows you to open a door multiple ways with the same key. Open door normally = "F" Open door and close it behind you = press "F" (hold it until you are inside), release "F" (can also be used to open doors as slowly as you want, hold "F" and use your mouse to drag door open/shut. Can also peek with this.) Bash door open = press "F" while sprinting at door. Kick open door = double tap "F" while standing in front of doorway that swings that direction. Typing this post just gave me another idea. What if we had the ability to hold a door shut from the other side to keep another player out? The mechanics I stated above would work for this. Just press "F" and hold it to keep the door shut and the player on the other side can double tap "F" to kick the door. Now having "F" held gives you control of the door. Dragging your mouse down will open the door, just holding "F" wont hold for to many kicks, you need to be slowly dragging your mouse upward while he kicks to keep the door shut. You just have to make sure he doesn't kick while you lift your mouse up and re-position it to drag upward again or he'll kick it open and knock you down :) Again, just some random ideas. Not saying DayZ needs these immediately, just want to share some possible future ideas.

    Rethink Reloading

I really like the idea of making the reload mechanic more complex. I has this idea while reading your post. To reload you have to press and hold "R" then for each bullet you need to press "LMB" to manually load each round. So lets take the mosin. You press and hold "R" then press "LMB" to load each bullet, then (and this part is a big maybe) you could physically click on the bolt itself and drag it back and forth in the L shape manually. By having to press a button for each bullet manually, you now have the option to load only 2 or 3 rounds into your mosin instead of all 5, so if someone is firing at you and the whole animation would have gotten you killed, you now can basically cancel the reloading, but still keep the bullets you started loading before shit went down. Maybe the timing between each bullet press would have to be evenly spaced to load it the fastest and if you double click to fast when loading, you fumble and drop a bullet? With the revolver it's just hold "R" and press "LMB" for each bullet then releasing "R"...simple! Same for the shotgun. Holding "R" opens the shotgun, press "LMB" for each shell and release "R" to close the gun. I would say that any clip or mag would have to be manually loaded the same way. But pressing "LMB" 60 times to load a mag would get real old pretty fast. So dragging from the pile to a mag would have to remain, unless anyone can think of a better idea? The M4 ,FNX, or anything speedloaded, would still be just "R" to reload, but maybe you need to hit "R" once to pull out the old mag the press it again to load in the new one, to give you the feeling of actually doing each step. These are ideas that literally just popped into my head after reading this post, so don't get all upset if you hate them. Im not saying these ideas are what needs to happen, but I really would like to see something done to revamp the reloading system to feel more like your actually involved in the process. Reloading would have to be planned and done at the right time, just like IRL. EDIT: I changed my mind and think this is a better way of going about this: I think that when you reload that you dont drag the bullets into the gun. You drag them into your hands and have to manually load each round individually by pressing "F" for each round. That way in the middle of reloading you can stop and react to an enemy if needed and keep the rounds you have already loaded.Plus by being able to reload with your hands, you can now hot key a pile of bullets and reload via the hotbar, by pressing "F" for each round you load.
  12. I really think a chest holster should be the only way to pull a weapon out of your backpack without knelling down to open it first. I really think there needs to be an animation for opening your inventory. No matter what your doing in your inventory, it all takes time to do IRL. Changing clothes is another thing that needs its own animation. We shouldn't be able to change clothes while running through a field. We should have to knell down in a safe place when we switch clothes or pull out a weapon. Why should be be able to access our backpacks while running? I guess it is just a game, so there's that? I just feel the whole inventory process needs to be worked on to be a little more realistic. I know people and I too myself like to organize our gear while sprinting long distances, but honestly I don't think we should be able to do this, it just doesn't make sense. The inventory system is based on realism and being able to rearrange it all while doing anything goes against the way the game is designed, at least IMO. But it's still early. We will have to wait and see how and if it changes.

Rocket, What would YOU like to see in DayZ?

I love that video! DayZ with thick snowfall, having no more than a meter of visibility in front of you would make for some crazy firefights when a blizzard kicks in in the middle of one.

    Random Military Standoff Points

What if there were random military outpost or last stand off points where the military hunkered down and fought off the zeds? Something like Green Mountain but smaller and more secluded. It may be something like this, but even smaller maybe tucked away in the woods somewhere. Not necessarily these exact structures or layout at all. Just something small that looks like a last stand that contains loot. Placing random loot spots would encourage exploring and roaming past people normal routes and comfort zones. Maybe one or two of these per server restart? Don't want to many. Maybe they don't even spawn sometimes, and there a rare occurrence? Randomly spawned crashed helicopters would do the same thing. Just a thought, not saying this is necessary right now. Just a possible idea for down the road. What do you think?

    What would you prefer?

Definitely both. I really like the idea Dying Light has where zombies get more difficult at night, by going from the slow zombies during the day to the faster one at night. I would love for that to happen in DayZ in someway. I would like 2 zombie types. One type could maybe not function at night, they just stop dead in one spot when the sun goes down and stay in place until daylight comes. The darkness would be to much for them to process (or something?) and they would just shut down until they see light. The other types get faster and smarter when it gets dark, so they gain better AI and will hunt you down. The point of the dumb zombies is to have much less zombies to deal with at night but the ones lurking about are a lot tougher and smarter. Plus it would be creepy to run into one of the dumb zeds that cant function at night. They just stand there making creepy ass noises. I dunno? Just an idea I had while reading this topic. For those who hate it, just pretend I didn't post it :)
  24. I some how found 2 pristine acogs yesterday in the same server. I dont need them both and am playing by myself atm, so instead of wasting it or hoping someone finds it Im going to post where it is and if anyone wants it they can have it. I promise this is in no way an attempt to trap someone. I just dont feel right tossing this beauty when they are so damn rare nowadays. It is in a Hunting Backpack with some other gear I dont need in the small shed just to the side of the red roof barn (the ones that just recently started spawning loot) in between NWAF and Vybor. It's there as of 12:35pm PST Server: Experimental (Hardcore) DE - 02 EdIt: If you find it post a screenshot of it if you can.
