    Permadeath IS one of the core mechanics in itself. The drawing point for many players, myself included, was that once you die, you have to start over. Removing permadeath would be removing one of the main features of DayZ.

    The idea posted above wasn't for it to take 5 minutes to log off; just for your body to stay in-game for 5 minutes. It would also mean you have to be careful about where you log, and pretty much stop combat loggers completely. It's not a perfect idea, but it's better than right now, where any asshole can just alt-f4 if they don't want to lose their precious gear.

    I don't get why people think that everyone in ballistic helmet, TTskO gear and a gasmask is a KoS kid (not bandit, that's a whole different thing). That is not KoS gear, it's just currently the best gear in the game. If you run without a helmet, you're a fucking idiot. I've lost count of how many times I've seen somebody with an M4 go down to a fresh spawn because he wasn't wearing a helmet and got punched in the head. The motorbike helmets stand out way too much to be useful, and some morons will assume anyone wearing that is a bandit anyway. TTskO gear is currently the best camo in the game. People who find it will wear it so they're harder to spot. Deal with it, or continue to run around in your red checked shirt and wonder why actual KoS kids shoot you. If they can't see you, they can't shoot you. As somebody said above, gasmasks will be incredibly useful when infections are implemented, and if you're not wearing one (or a respirator), you will probably get infections more often. Right now, they cover your face, which in case you can't tell, sort of sticks out when you're in a wooded area. Wearing a gas mask makes you harder to spot. In other words, if you shoot people on sight just because they're wearing that gear, you are just as bad as all the KoS kids. P.S. A bandit is not a KoS kid. I am a bandit, and I never kill people unless they shoot first, or they kill a fresh spawn/defenseless player. It just means we hold people up, take some useful gear, but not enough to fuck them over, leave them some food and water if we have spare, and leave.

    I can imagine it now... trying to tell my squad to stop at a corner, hitting the wrong button, give the signal to move up, they all rush around the corner and get mowed down :P Seriously though, we need more hand signals in the game. Pointing is confirmed, but we need stuff like this for quickly giving signals to squadmates.

    Would stop us from killing people when they fail to comply. For example, we saw a guy with no visible firearm, but an axe. Told him to stop running and lower the axe (we weren't going to kill him, but he was running around with it raised, and there was a body down the street fountaining blood 5 feet into the air which we assumed was his work). Instead of stopping, he started shouting friendly over mic, not responding to anything, just continuously shouting friendly, and running directly at us with the axe. So we shot him. I tazers were added, this guy would still be alive, and many others who do the same sort of thing because they think that an axe beats a magnum. Also removes the need for the KoS kids to ruin the precious gear they want to take from all those fresh spawns down on the coast.

    This. Not the NVGs from the mod that give perfect if slightly green vision. I also read a suggestion a while back to implement a night-vision camcorder (Outlast style) which you have to raise to look through (need to ADS, means you would have to walk while looking through it), and would have a small red light on the front of it when active, so you're not completely invisible if you're using it.

    I second this. Right now the only way to tell if a dude is dead or just knocked out is to scroll over him and see if you get the "hide body" option. Also if somebody was just unconscious, you could tell how close they are to dying by how strong/weak the pulse is.

    Suggestion - disable VOIP during gameplay

    You clearly don't understand how these things work. How, without running a scan on the RAM, would the game detect which programs you have running? How would it detect which programs have VOIP capabilities? If it goes by program name, like teamspeak.exe, what's to stop people from running a portable version with a renamed .exe file? Also, in what way would this destroy the functionality of radios? I can think of two examples off the top of my head where they would still be useful. Example A: I am part of a fairly large (8-10 people) squad, and we commonly split into two sub-squads and move into different teamspeak channels to avoid confusion. When we do this, we have to make sure each squad is in a different place, and whenever one squad is moving towns, they inform the other squad via steam chat. If the leader of each squad had a radio, we could keep each other updated about our movements without having to stop to type (and most likely get shot), and we could have two squads operating in the same area. Example B: We are not KOS kids. We are bandits. We hold players up, handcuff them, take anything useful that we need (but don't completely fuck them over), give the person food and water if we have some to spare, then leave. Sometimes, we find a friendly player and don't want to accidentally kill them. Rather than inviting a random into our teamspeak just so we know where they are, we could give them our radio frequency. That way, they can contact us if they need to, and if we spot a player and have to engage, we can confirm that it's not them. So in what way are radios useless if people use teamspeak? I'm sure there are plenty of other uses that I can't think of right now. If you like to play alone, great, play however you like to play. But don't get butthurt and start insulting people just because you don't like the way they play. </rant>

    I don't think you fully understand what permadeath means, do you? Not having permadeath won't stop people shooting on sight, it just means you will spawn with all your gear. Which for the record, is one of the stupidest fucking ideas I've ever read. One of the main features of DayZ is that if you die, you lose all your shit and have to start over. If you don't like that, go play another game or sack up and deal with it.

    When you are unconscious, you can hit esc, turn up brightness/gamma, and you can see in front of your body as if you were still awake/alive. Needs to be fixed IMO.

    Definitely the prone thing. I've been killed twice because my character decided to find the most comfortable patch of ground to lie down on behind some cover, and ended up catching a few bullets with his face, rather than just going "ohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuck" and hitting the deck quickly. The magnificent swan dive from the mod was perfect...

    Body despawn time

    So right now I have a problem with the way player bodies despawn. Last night I got into a firefight with a squad of 4. Me and a friend had travelled down to Elektro to help another friend (who was a fresh spawn) gear up, when some guy fired a mosin at us from the school. We immediately went to our usual firefight tactics (get to hard cover, locate enemies, suppress and wide flank), and wiped out the guy on the roof and 3 of his friends. However, while we were making sure there weren't any more, three of the bodies had already disappeared, and by the time we got our friend to the fourth one, that disappeared too right as he was about to loot it. Wouldn't it be better to only despawn bodies if there are no players within a certain radius of it or something similar? (could cause issues in places like Elektro where there's pretty much always somebody close).
  20. This would bring back the same issue that was in the mod - when approaching a town, you could just take a look through some binoculars or a scope. If there were zombies in the town, there were players. With the zombies spawning as they are now, there is no way to tell if there are players nearby just by looking from a distance.

    Painful story

    Part of a squad of 5 looting Cherno. Two have mosins with long range scopes, the other 3 have M4s with various attachments. Myself and the other mosin guy climb the "sniper tower" to look around and cover the other three while they loot (we were not climbing it for kills, purely because it is one of the best places in Cherno to have a full view of the city). I spot a guy near the fire station. My friend tries to lean to see where our squad is. Forgets he's prone on the edge of the tower. The last thing I see is his backpack disappearing over the edge of the building.

    I can hit 60 in the wilderness. I don't even come close to that in cities, more like 20-30 there. But yes, in the wilderness I average at around 60. Looking at the sky I cap around 120 :P

    If it's the glitch where a clone of yourself appears, just kill it and hide the body. That's what I always do when that happens.
