    Minor topic...But needs to be discussed

    Nice idea, but Rocket has already stated in a Reddit post that this impossible. I'll see if I can dig that post out and put it on here, he did explain the reasons but I can't remember them.

    Awesome idea! Although, on the sniper point, most snipers would notice that their shot missed by the impact on the ground, see the guy fall over, go "...wat" and put one in his head, since he was kind enough to give them a stationary target. When running from snipers, serpentine --> cover is always a better option :P

    Reworked magazine loading

    As I said in the first line of my post, this talks about a delay, but says nothing about actually taking the mag out of your backpack and performing an animation. Therefore, I assumed the person who posted that wanted to keep the magical backpacks that refill mags for you, but add a delay to it.

    Vision/Player Visibility

    A guy who also has a fuck-off yellow axe on his back. And is not made of rock. You would be able to distinguish between the rock and the material of his clothing, but there is no difference.

    There are many, MANY reasons this wouldn't work. Here's one: I play with a clan. We have clan tags. Say I kill a member of a group, the rest of his group see that I have clan tags. They look on the player list, see that there are 3 other people with those tags. Boom, they now know exactly how many enemies they're dealing with. Works the other way too, we would see the tags (if any) that the guy we killed has.

    Still getting invisible players...

    So I just started playing on the new patch, and I'm still getting invisible players. I was getting punched to shit by an invisible fresh spawn until I managed to lose him/her/it in the trees. Anyone else still experiencing this?

    Tell us why we died

    If you die in real life, you're dead. You know fuck all. Anyway, an observant player can usually tell how they died. If you don't notice the zombie munching on your face, or the message telling you that you're starving to death (and the screen desaturation), then it's your own fault when you die, and you should know how it happened. If you hear a bullet crack right before you die, you were clearly shot. Equally, if you were in a firefight with some guy and ate his bullets, it should be obvious how it happened. As somebody said above, you are dead because you fucked up. The message that you're dead is enough. Just respawn, start again, and deal with it.

    That's because most people put on any attachment they find without understanding what they do, then complain when they can't hit a 200m target with their CQB buttstock. The M4 with a Magpul (MP) buttstock is perfectly accurate upwards of about 400m.

    I agree there should be some glint if you are not taking measures to prevent it. A decent sniper would take more precautions than your typical Elektro sniper, so there should be ways to reduce or remove the scope glint. Also, if this is implemented, it shouldn't be the goddamn flashlight-scopes from battlefield, and you shouldn't be able to see it from everywhere - if the sun is behind you and the sniper isn't aiming directly at you, you would see no glint. If the sun is the same angle away from the front of the scope as you are (in the opposite direction), then there should be a glint. It'll probably be pretty difficult to get a realistic and balanced implementation of this.
  12. The 0% thing only happens if you use the eating method where you just spam-eat/drink until it says there is nothing left. I agree, it should always happen, the can shouldn't just disintegrate.
  13. Again, as multiple people have said above, FoV depends on too many variables to be calculated by the game. Resolution, monitor setup (multiple monitors, etc), distance from monitor, and most importantly, personal preference. The game can only calculate it based on resolution, so for most people it will get it wrong. I personally play on a higher FoV than a lot of people, because I prefer the extra peripheral vision, while other people prefer a lower FoV. I do agree that being able to change it in a few seconds in-game needs to be changed, but we do need an option to change it. The config file method is perfect. Nobody's honestly going to exit the game, go into their config file, change the FoV, boot the game back up (experiencing that wonderful DayZ boot time), and log back into the server, just to get a little extra zoom.

    The issue is, as you said, I don't tend to notice text chat. Making it bigger would solve that a bit, but I'd rather it didn't take up more of my screen, potentially covering up whatever I'm trying to spot. I don't trust people without microphones anyway. Every time I've been killed as a fresh spawn (or under-geared player), it's been by somebody who, whether they don't have a mic or they're just not using it, was not talking or responding to me. Not saying I will shoot people who don't have a mic, I just won't stick around or try to help them.

    You're overlooking the main point of that post. When you're trying to communicate plans during a firefight, talking is much faster than typing, and if you need to react fast, you can just aim and shoot, rather than having to panic-spam the escape button to get out of text chat, then get some face modification surgery courtesy of the guy shooting at you, because you took too long to get out of text chat. Also, if you're trying not to let the enemy hear what you're planning, it's much better to use voice. When they're far away, all they'll hear is some indistinct mumbling, rather than "I'M GONNA FLANK AROUND TO THE LEFT" appearing in big white letters on their screen. Sort of gives the game away a bit.

    Simple ideas for better dayz

    We use that time format here in England... Anyways, some good ideas, but; - As said above, there is nothing wrong with the time format, it's just 24h format. Pretty much every digital representation of time ever has had the option to display it in this way. - I wouldn't object to a nicer player list, but not tab. Tab already does something. Something you probably do more than anything else in the game. Three guesses what it is. - Removing the ability to raise/lower your weapon is just stupid. I don't particularly want to be constantly aiming my rifle at my friends. It's not that difficult to just press space when you know/think there are players nearby, or you're clearing a building, etc. Honestly, it's one of the things I really miss whenever I go back to play the mod (nobody can be bothered to double-tap ctrl :L). The rest of your ideas are pretty good though. Especially the HUD thing. I'm sick of constantly getting "Player1 is losing connection". Especially when Player1 is me. And I'm not really losing connection.
  17. The issue with spread right now is that even with perfect aim (sight directly on target), you can still miss your target due to the random spread. This is (I think) meant to simulate an untrained civilian firing a weapon, which could be done much better by adding more sway when aiming, or more recoil.
  18. I think people are misunderstanding "in-game". They need to remove the option to change the FoV fast like you can right now (as has been said multiple times above), but still keep the option to change it, as some people can't play under a certain FoV without getting physically sick.

    1. Primary 2. Secondary 3. Melee 4. Water 5. Bandages 6. Saline/bloodbag Don't need a map/compass, and I don't hold many people up, so I don't carry cuffs.

    Dual monitor support for multi-tasking

    Cursorlock. It's a tool that lets you create shortcuts to a program which, when started through that shortcut, will not allow your cursor to move off of the screen you're running the application on. You can still alt-tab and move to other screens when DayZ isn't the active window, but as soon as you tab back in, your cursor will be locked to that monitor. Awesome program if you're running 3 screens, I was constantly searching for where my cursor had fucked off to while I was in game...

    SKS vs M4

    I've had the opposite experience to you here - my M4 can reliably hit target up to 500-600 metres within 1-2 shots (there's a little spread at that sort of range, but not much), and the one time I ever used the SKS it was absolute shite. Couldn't hit a stationary zombie at 50 metres. I have the magpul buttstock, but not handguard, and an ACOG sight. Everything it either pristine or worn.
