    KOS Hysteria

Did they have guns? If those 15 didn't, hard to count those. I think your on the lucky end and I'll elaborate. 80% of encounters I've had were during solo play. Several players have run up to me with an axe/wrench/etc out of nowhere and swing for the fences. Another was a lone player, we approach guns down, ask how he is, fists go up---runs over and starts punching and I'm ko'd. I got shots off and got the kill but I didn't iniate. Bolota control tower, guy comes from down the ladder says Hi the unloads his m4a1 in my chest. Running out of western apts, killed by what appeared to be an invisible player corner camping. Spawn into a supermarket, dead before I get in. Not sure why I was spawning in a supermarket, bad idea for sure. Northern Cherno, I cross paths with two dfferent players on two different occassions and the both shoot at me missing every single shot (bums). Running south of Pavlovo with a friend, we see two players runnning north on the road towards us---we cut left, they open fire. We survived.

    KOS Hysteria

My theory on why KOS mentality has run rampant in SA. Almost every player I've run into, face-to-face, has tried to kill me. An approximate number would be 20-1. I didn't play the mod all the way until the end but played close enough to it to know even late in the mod people weren't playing like this. Every player I've comm'd with in SA all say the same thing: they've never played DayZ before. I know vets would say that in the mod as a cover of deception, but I don't think this is the case here. I'm old enough and played enough of the mod to know the difference. I believe them because of other things they say. They don't know anything about the game and its not an act. This is my experience. I know the bandits here will probably disagree with me, but thats expected as they are bandits and see through that lense. But lets say for a second that I'm on to something. Its not surprising to see a KOS mentality with new players as a lot of people play BF/COD/ETC. This game is unique and I would expect people that play those games regularly to not get it. Solution? I think its up to us seasoned vets to give unequipped players a break. I'm not saying that bandits shouldn't be bandits, do your thing. But the lot should consider taking a break on the new players. Maybe seasoned bandits should only kill threats, e.g. those with mosin/m4a1's. Just because your a bandit doesn't mean you have to be a murderous lunatic. Whats happening is this: true bambi's are getting smoked by the boatload with zero gear. I see dead, pantless bambi's strewn about the streets. I see youtube video's of groups mercilessly torturing bambi's. Saw one video where all the bandits (in this case, preteens bandits) were laughing as they were debating what torture to use on captive bambi's. Like the trolls in The Hobbit (book). The bambi's sounded northern European and said they were new to the game. Once the deed was done there was a dark silence for a blip (shit got real), followed by gallows humor/laughter. I saw nothing fun or humorous. Put yourself in their shoes. If you get smoked 10x trying to get geared up in your first experience with the game, your probably going to smoke everyone you see when you get geared up. Its an never ending cycle.

    Dayz is unplayable right now

    1. Not commonplace. 2. Absolutely incorrect. 3. Low % chance of happening. 4. Wasn't deleted, read Halls reddit for more info. Hall: Probably shouldn't delete your character, but it might cause you to spawn in disconnected from the central hive. If the game server is unable to get a response from the central server to a player login before it times out, then it will simply carry on with a fresh character. I'll need to check, but its possible that this fresh character might overwrite your existing one in the DB, if the game server regains connection to the central server. Log out, wait around and it'll comeback. Happens to me all the time. Your gear will be there. 5. So? Whats your point? I find the game very playable. You move across the map faster, high loot value area's have been increased. Mosins are everywhere now it seems.

    Tents ?

There is a tent behind some bushs on the right side of the main road going east past Electro as well. Devs can be evil.
  5. Quick story, My friend and I were in Bolota the other day. He was in the hills with eyes on the field giving me overwatch w/his Mosin. I'm hitting the area for supplies, quick breeze through. My friend see's 2 bambi's runnin about near the low rise barracks. I'm on the side of the jailed officer barracks and creep up to about 50 yards away, behind cover, watching their every move. One gets kilt by a zed, the other flee's and I lose sight of him. By mere coincidence, someone logs in the barrack house with the jail and runs to the low rise barracks. I didn't know he logged in at the time and though he was with the other two guys. I move closer, keeping cover. I pop up from cover, ADS and approach the player. I tell him to stop, put his hands up and interrogate him as to where his friend is. He says he doesn't know what I'm talking about and is alone. I'm two seconds away from pulling the trigger. I ask my friend in the hills for intel, he see's no activity other than us two. All seems clear. Time to make a judgement call. Kill the bambi on valid suspiscion, or take a chance and let him live. I got this gut feeling this guy is telling the truth so we let him live. My spotter comes down from the hills and joins us. Now the interrogation turns passive (we think we're possibly being set up) and he passes all the tests. We help the bambi and it turns out he was telling the truth---he was alone. We swap skype/steam names and he's part of our group now. He's a good player that plays like a team and is in the army in RL. I think why everybody is KOS'ing is because there is a massive pool of new players. People helped each other in the mod and thats a lot of fun. I have no problems with killing, but its always calculated. I would rather help. Below are two tips for making friends in the wasteland thats Chernarus. Try this on low populated servers. 1. Easy approach: Go to an area where players spawn fresh and comm with them. High chance for success. Careful as once they get armed, all could change. Make sure to keep them always in front of you. Don't give them much gear, they will take kindness for weakness. Give them like a can of food/water then offer to help them scavenge. On the main road with Skali on the left is a hot spawn. Solni would be good too. I would stay away from Electro as its bandit country now. Haven't been Berezino since the spawn change, but that might be a good place too. 2. Not-So-Easy approach: Go to high loot value area's and comm with them. This must be highly calculated. Cover is an absolute must. I would stay away from the apts as its sniper heaven in there. Cover is too difficult. Try Bolota, tent city, etc. Make sure you have an area of cover before you comm if you can. Basically, your scavenging for a group member. Patience, safety and calculation are golden rules. Good luck, your going to need it.

    [SUGGESTION] Reduce Fall Damage

I fell from glitching through a wall on a 2nd floor. Couldn't have been more than 10 feet and died. They definitely need to tune it down. The worst thing about it is its delayed. Your like, Oo yeah I made it and then its: your dead.

I think the map is too small for cars. Am I the only one

Cars should not be rare. Its not realistic. The parts should be rare or need repair. I thought they were planning mechanic profiency type thing.

No idea what to do anymore?

Stick to the mission. I use this as a daily affirmation. If the mission is waiting for your friends, stick to the mission. Deviate from the plan and your gonna take a ride into danger zone---death is certain. No mistakes.

I have no idea where to go...

dayzmap.com It has the Russian names of the towns. Learn the map, memorize routes. Landmarks, etc.
