  1. Why do you people feel guilty from killing? If you want to play on the safer side, then put a bullethole in anything that moves. Nothing to feel guilty about.

Hell, whenever I play this game or any game with long range projectiles, I'm generally the one hiding off in a distance blowing people away before they are even aware of my existance. (Mosin snipes are great, even if it sometimes takes 2hours of camping to get one) This is my form of looting since I choose not to deal with the glitchy zombies when I dont have to.

  2. Looks like a good list. I do disapprove of the higher recoil though. What we have at the moment seems to work well enough.

I assume "heavy handguns" includes the current revolver. Most .357s dont have that much recoil though. If they add .44 mags and pistols of equal or higher power into the game, then of course recoil will have to scale with bullet size. (They also better be one hit kills. No f-ing way you're gonna take a bullet from something like that and walk away. Maybe missing a limb could be the least amount of dmg.)

  3. I see no problem with having zombies only "die" via headshots. Doing this from a distance may take some practice and some bullets, but realistically anyone could wait for a zombie to run up to them and blow a hole in their face point blank.

Also keep in mind, they would need to obey some of the laws of human anatomy. Ex: If you put a bullet through its spine, depending on how high you put the bullet the zombie will either be forced to crawl or be completely paralyzed. (Essentially dead)

  4. This entire situation is just absolute stupidity at its finest.

I don't see why servers that are connected to the public hive can't be screened beforehand and their connection to the hive simply disabled when suspected of abuse. You obviously cannot rely on the GSPs to actively shut down the servers found to be in violation when those servers are making them money. Now when a DayZ staff member says anything to a GSP service representative, they will act since possibly losing their privilage of hosting public DayZ servers would cost them even more money. If some random player reports any abusive behavior, it is not likely much action will be taken.

The GSPs cannot really be blamed though, all they care about is their money. The problem is that this game is in Alpha. The rules are vague, the game has many issues and work to be done, this is one of the many problems that have not been solved yet.

  5. We found out what the problem was on this end was as well.

If anyone has Norton Antivirus, please note that it is a horrible piece of shit software and should be uninstalled immediately.

Even when we disabled everything in norton settings(I was screensharing with him, disabled it all), DayZ & Rust servers were being blocked. When I finally convinced the guy to completely uninstall Norton, all of his problems disappeared.

  6. My friend is having this exact same problem not only for DayZ, but Rust as well. No servers pop up for both games and he cannot manually connect to any servers via IP address. For the past few days, we've been scouring search engines, various forums, and even Rust community support. Tried pretty much every solution that didn't sound idiotic. (Some people believe lowering your graphics settings will fix your server connection issues.)

He bought both of these games recently, maybe steam is having issues authenticating accounts?

Has no problems playing other games such as Nether, TF2, ArmaII DayZ mod, etc.

  7. The buildings are pretty much deathtraps at the moment. You go in them, can fall/glitch through walls and usually die from fall dmg, zombies pop in and out as they please, 3rd person douchebags abuse their detached view and clip their camera into the walls to see you, kids delete files that they should not be able to play without letting them see through walls, bullets seem to penetrate walls so allowing for spray and pray kills should someone see you, and probably much more.

Get in, loot, get the hell out. Until the problems above get fixed, more time in a building = higher chance of death.

  8. Unless you're in the military or know how to properly handle a weapon, the chances that you're a crap shot will be pretty high. Considering we're all just random survivors in-game, it's safe to assume that we're all just random Joe Schmoes who've probably never used a weapon before. So the weapons inaccuracy is rather realistic since there's more to just aiming and shooting in real life.

Edit: HOWEVER, I will say that I came across someone yesterday who wanted to be killed and had a problem with weapon accuracy. He was no more than 10 feet from me and it took two shots to the head to kill him because I missed the first time. Now that was a tad unrealistic unless my character is completely ass backwards and sucks at life. <_<

Yet, that doesnt justify weapon accuracy being absolute unrealistic crap. If you're a bad shot with a gun, it is usually because you can't aim the thing properly. In this game, the weapons are inaccurate even when you have a shot lined up.

Make it harder to aim, but give guns better accuracy.

  9. There should be an ability to check server logs to see who killed you and what is their steam ID, so you can report it to battle eye or have people of servers ban them.

You cannot rely on people to get accurate hacker reports. VAC knows this thus they do not ban based on reports alone.

Likely 95% of the reports would be kids or tryhards reporting anyone and everyone that kills them. Hell, they might even start reporting the zombies at some point.

It is also extremely frustrating getting your head blown off by a sniper. I highly doubt that everyone playing this game could resist the urge to report the sniper as a hacker that is somehow instantly killing people.

  10. rust is now above dayz in concurrent players.

all I know is, if I sold a million game copies, i woudlnt wait no damn 4 weeks to fix game breaking issues

    http://steamcharts.com/

It doesn't matter that much. I have played rust and at the moment, it is more polished and playable than DayZ. The thing is, it feels like an entirely different game. I spend most of my time in Rust like I do in minecraft... gathering materials, crafting items, buildings a huge ass base, defending my land, etc.

DayZ just doesn't have that feel, nor should it. Both are great games.

  11. your wrong inception. earth monster post is perfectly fine.

as for the other your right.

but i chock that up up your age and is whats wrong with these moderators here.

remember this for the free loaders or the Dev's, without people or clans renting these servers, you are nothing.

It is a privledge to play on someone else's server that they rent not a right!!! Yes it s public hive funded by the very people who buy the game or rent the servers or spend thousands of hours coding.

I would bet dollars to donuts that everyone here ranting how bad admins are, are between the ages of 12 - 21. act their age mommy, tommy looked at me wrong, daddy mommy i need this.

temper tantrums is all i see from most of this posters.

Maybe if all of us server owners(renters) should all cancell our servers and support Rust, 7 days to die, Infestation. Perfect example is BF4 and how they took over to be the best FPS because COD decided to make servers public only. Wake up Dev's there are new games here and coming that give more control to those who spend money to make game better.

    another example is origins

Rocket you came up with a great idea but don't let the punks destroy it.

You may be paying for the server and have ownership but you agreed to the rules when you decided to run a PUBLIC server. What is so hard to understand about that?

    http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/

Read them. It doesn't matter if you think it is fair or not, you agreed to it when you went public. As long as your server is public, players DO have a right to play on it without having to suffer abuse which will modify their public hive data.

You may choose to stop paying for your server at any time. You're not going to convince all the other server admins to do the same thing though... Probably because a lot of them actually want to play the game publicly and not "Rule my server with an IRON FIST!".

This game will have private servers, so I don't understand what you're so pissy about. It is currently in Alpha, you need to wait if you want your private server so you can kick/ban anyone that shoots you without worry of being blacklisted.

  12. In a realistic sense, this suggestion should only work with high caliber ammunition. I can shoot a .357 all day and not have a problem. If I try and shoot my .44 magnum for prolonged periods of time without gloves... that is an entirely different story. I don't currently own any high caliber rifles and haven't shot any for extended periods. I do however own an M14 which can be shot all day long only injuring my wallet, not my shoulder.

This would also make gloves somewhat important when using firearms. It makes a huge difference as far as pistol shooting is concerned when gloves are worn while shooting higher calibers.

  13. On my first day playing this game, I saw someone prone with a mosin trying to snipe people from on top of a firestation. This guy was completely oblivious to me running up to the building and climbing the ladder. I then proceeded to axe him in the back a couple times. After taking damage, he immediately stood up and began sprinting forward... and since he was already on the ledge, he kinda just floated downward and died.

This is when I learned not to fall off of buildings.

  14. lol I don't see a point in using .22 firearms.

The bullet is weak as shit. It even has a hard time piercing a human skull at medium-long ranges.

I saw someone mention that it would be a quiet zombie dispatcher, but .22s are still loud as all hell. I thought it wouldn't be as loud as a bigger gun, but one shot without hearing protection definitely proved me wrong. Unless the weapons are compatible with silencers, it would seem a bit useless imo.

I guess it would be a nice "first weapon" though since they tend to be common (at least around my area) due to bullets being cheap as shit.

  15. I support all of your ideas except for wind. It is way too hard to get an idea of what the wind factor is in a virtual world without an item giving you this information. I don't like the idea of sniping being dependent on guesswork or a rare item that gives you info on wind factor. We already need to find an undamaged bipod (not so rare) and an undamaged long ranged scope (somewhat common in military areas, but usually end up getting shot when trying to get it).

Instead of wind, they just need to reduce bullet dispersions and make it harder to actually aim. (Characters are not military trained, should have difficulty when aiming weapons)

  16. If you don't kill them in less than 2.5 seconds, don't bother continuing the battle. Either log out and join a different server or haul ass out of there while keeping your cover.

It seems that every player in this game will abuse that these days. I now have to make every shot count when sniping since EVERY time that I miss, the target sprints a bit then logs out by the time I reload the bullet. 4/7 shots missed today, 4/7 targets logged out immediately after shot was fired.

The 3 hits/kills did have some nice gear, so I can't really complain too much about today's haul.
