Level of Weaponry Available (Poll)
MystoganXIX replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
I think that it should depend on your location. Since spawning seems to take place along the edges of the map, it would make sense that the farther inland you travel, the better the loot gets and the harder surviving becomes. (Zed city) I don't think that the best weapons should necessarily be like finding a needle in a haystack, but they should require alot more effort to obtain without dying. The game would imo be more entertaining if getting the good stuff revolves more around skill than luck. And to prevent server hopping to get this crap, just put it's major spawn locations right smack in the middle of an extremely hostile environment. If you server hop to get it, you'll either die while loading up or all the enemies will be dead, but the area will already have been looted. -
Does anyone know that combat logging -> KOS?
MystoganXIX replied to mark3236 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I think this happens alot on nighttime servers I play on. Many of times I've heard people jacking around somewhere nearby or I've seen flashlights through the walls. Majority of the time when I get remotely close to them, theres nothing there. The flashlight shuts off and nobody to be found... I'm willing to bet that people put on headsets with the volume cranked up. If they hear any noises that could hint of another player or a zombie advancing towards them, they log out. Seriously, this is like minecraft all over again... but this time, I don't have a base to grief or chests to loot. (To reward them for being a chickenshit) I guess when tents and vehicles are implemented, at least I'll have some of their belongings to loot and destroy as punishment. -
Possible solution to KOS, hear me out

If this game starts punishing people for killing others, I'm uninstalling it. I bought it because I liked the idea of this game. Do whatever you can to survive. It is a simulator game, so do you think a person who was trying to survive in real life after a zombie apocalypse would really start going insane after killing another person? In most cases, no. Its simply the instinct of self preservation. This person may try to kill me or this person may take nearby supplies that I need to live, so they must die in order for me to continue on. (There are no established laws or civilizations here, so no need to worry about "jail" and etc) As far as written history will go back to, humans have killed eachother over trivial things. Now if we're killing eachother for survival, I'm sure the people who have survived for a significant amount of time in an apocalypse will kill anything that is a threat to them without hesitation and emotional distress. (Insanity) Insanity may be a good feature that can be caused by sickness or eating items that a rational human being would not consume. -
So this is how you stop server hoppers/farmers

If this system was implemented, It will give birth to a new form of griefing. The loot killers... So some jerk who already got his loot can contantly relog in say... Balota. He will make everything despawn and probably get kills as naked people wander in and get frustrated when they can't even find a rotten fruit or a shirt. -
The M4 sound is very bad, along with the ballistics
MystoganXIX replied to millenniumgroup@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
I'm in full support of just having gun blasts replaced with a partial gunfire noise followed by ringing. If this actually happens, I do hope that some ear protection is added in game so that only the somewhat muffled, but still loud as shit gunblasts are heard. Any gun that has no suppressor is pretty much a deaf sentence. If some derp fires a weapon in the middle of a city, I believe that every zombie within the city should immediately aggro towards him and every zombie within a large radius outside the city should be influenced to travel towards the source of the sound. Of course, the zombies being able to noclip through everything needs to be fixed before this happens. -
After pretty much nailing down the energy/thirst mechanic.. Let's think long term:

I like the thirst and hunger the way it is at the moment. It demands some of your attention early on, but the game doesn't revolve around you finding everything you can digest and shoving it down your throat. Sickness would definitely add an annoying, but challenging mechanic to this whenever it works. The real problem I see with the game's difficulty is that zombies are pathetic. All die from 1 bullet or 1 swing of an axe it seems. Also you can pretty much run forever, meaning that even if their durability and numbers are dramatically increased... I can run through a city, aggro 150 zombies and laugh as they chase me for the next 40 miles down the road. Note: I don't want the forever running issue dealt with until we have vehicles. Would be rather annoying to have to walk around the map like an elderly. -
Suggestions for the defibrillator
MystoganXIX replied to Heeeere's johnny!'s topic in General Discussion
Don't really think the CPR is necessary... I guess I just don't feel like watching some big nasty guy breath into me and then beat my character in the hopes that I wake up. (Note: Toothbrush/paste and hygiene do not exist in DayZ, so this guy or woman is pretty nasty) I wouldn't be against the defib reviving players nomatter what, just as long as they're pretty much on the verge of death afterwards and they're unable to do much for the next 5-10mins. If I shoot some guy in Balota, I don't want his buddy using a defib allowing him to pop up and shoot me. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind much if his buddy killed me afterwards, then defibs and spends the next 10 mins protecting his friend while he recovers. -
I like the idea of nighttime, but as the game stands it serves no purpose as is. If they address the gamma/brightness issue, It might become an actual experience of "night". As of now, turning on a flashlight is pointless unless you're trying to attract player aggro. Pretty much just a trap that new players fall into. Now its pretty much like everyone has animal-like nightvision. Although I generally don't care what time of day the server is on when I play, I'm always on night servers since they usually have less people and more loot. (Even if a city or military base has all its doors opened, if its a night server chances are they missed alot more than they would have in a day server)

It get put in game in future. Game in alpha now people testing and things many not work so must wait little bit more. Not playing now, you only miss out on zombies run through house and floor.

Welp, Im running Intel Core i3 2.10 GHz along with Intel HD Graphics 3000 which is pretty much the shittiest computer that dirt can buy these days and I get playable fps in cities, good fps in open areas. Just turn down your settings a bit and follow some FPS increase guides. I know its strange, but always keep your textures on its highest setting. I have no idea why this gives better FPS, and its not only this game that gives a boost when using high textures.

The only solution for DayZ: Simulation.

OP got me excited now... I can't wait until the day that I get to sit on the side of a mountain zoomed in on an airfield watching newbies struggle with the helicopters. All that shit you'd have to do to get the heli started... its a sniper's wet dreams to stumble upon that. Hell, I may not even shoot, people will probably just crash and kill themselves. -
This game map seems to be based in/near Russia. I have also watched plenty of videos by "FPS Russia" over the years. Because of this, I'd like to see every badass weapon you can think of in game. And maybe some sound effects of a Russian guy saying "Have nice day."

So a recent thread I've been reading had me think about all the times I've died in this game. Generally the answer should be either zombies, health problems, other players being douchebags... Nope, most of the times I've died in this game was from falling, and most of the time it was from falling 3-7 feet. This is infuriating because there's no thrill of being eaten by a zombie or losing a gunfight with some jackwagons at Balota. I really do believe this should be changed in a future patch as the distances I'm falling and dying from are pretty retarded. Even if I was carrying a huge mountain backpack completely filled with supplies, at the MOST I might break a few legs. The unresponsiveness I get from the movement controls during a small amount of lag constantly kills me in this manner. The ladders can sometimes be hard to use. I have many times tried to walk over and try to climb down, but instead I actually do walk over the ladder and die. (A couple of these falls were understandable deaths) Also many deaths from climbing over the ruins of city buildings only to be met with a sudden 3ft drop to my hilariously pathetic death. Hopefully the fatal distance is increased a bit in future patches. Breaking legs is annoying, but still understandable with all that crap we carry. Death is just retarded. I saw a drunken fat man who was putting in shingles a couple years ago fall off of my roof ass first. The result was him getting up and laughing. The result ingame would have been death.

What, exactly, is the point of this game?
MystoganXIX replied to Zascha-Geriko's topic in General Discussion
This is a mainly a zombie survival game is it not? Pretty much the main idea or goal of zombie survival game is to... you know, survive. Designing a game around the objective of survival is not "lazy" or pointless. The only reason people at the moment may see it that way is because it isn't actually all that hard to survive. (Excluding deaths caused by other players) Generally games that revolve around the objective of survival make it difficult to achieve that objective, but due to this being alpha and all, I guess we wouldn't discover as many bugs if we're too busy being torn apart by insanely difficult zombies. I'll expect that survival will be much harder and likely steal alot of attention away from the deathmatch aspect of this game when the finished product is released. When people are worried about being swarmed with zombies (that don't die from 1 bullet), they likely won't run around shooting at anything that moves anymore. In my past few days of playing this game, I only died to zombies twice. Once was the first time I spawned in. (Spawned right near a zombie and discovered that its pretty much impossible to kill a zombie in a fistfight) And the other time was when I was so injured from fighting other people that I just decided to feed the zombie... seeing as how I was almost dead and had nothing of value. Annoyingly enough, I actually had to search around to find the damn thing. Wouldn't surprise me if there are more players than there are zombies on populated servers atm.
