Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002

Interesting. However, in this case, the avatar can not be seen by the invisible person because everything appears perfectly normal on their screen. Also, I think it's unlikely that it's wireless connections because I am wired and my friend is wired when he went invisible. As well as my other friend who become invisible at one point several days ago. -

I'm thinking about making a thread in the general discussion to get more visibility on this issue. It's only noticeable if you are playing with friends because there is no way to detect yourself that you are invisible (unless you attack a guy and he acts like a ghost is hitting him). If I get another confirmed report I'll submit a ticket to the feedback tracker so there is more information. -

Here we go. Sorry, I thought I was recording my teamspeak audio so you could hear them but it isn't too pertinent to get the point across. My friend's avatar is stuck in this position and mimics everything that he is doing on his screen. He was running around in the field by the firehouse in Elektro. As you can see, he picked up a white hard hat from somewhere and it appeared on his avatar. I also had another friend playing who was seeing this avatar in a completely different spot. I then ran outside and told him to punch the bus stop wall. He is directly in front of me punching it and you can clearly see and hear it but his avatar is still in the building to the left of the screen. I ran back up to check his body and it moved into that corner. I punched him to see if it would wound him on his screen and sure enough it did. Then his avatar made its way out of the building and stopped in the street. He was punching the zombie near the firehouse in the next video. The invisible man punching the zombie yet his body that I can see is just outside the building. -

I've got video evidence of the invisible player bug now. I've also concluded that it has nothing to do with the axe stance since my friend was a new spawn. It seems that a player gets stuck in a position somewhere (not sure why) and their character continues invisible while their "avatar" does all their actions just in one spot. You can damage the player's avatar and it will affect them. Another interesting note is that when my friend ran back to his avatar, it "reset" and I was able to see him move around like normal. Also, my other friend was seeing the invisible player avatar in one position and I was seeing it in a completely different spot. I'm trying to upload the videos as we speak and hopefully I'll bring up a bug report that wouldn't be tagged with "Needs more info" since I haven't exactly found out how to replicate it. -

Because my friend saw him and you can only swing the axe now from the new position. I'll try and record future sessions but I have no idea how to reproduce what happened. -

No, it's not desync, I am running away down the stairs while an invisible player is axing me yet my friend could see him. I am posing this because it has only happened when the player was in the new high ready axe position implemented in this patch. Maybe there is an issue with it. -

All right, there seems to be a MAJOR issue with this update. This has happened to me, my friend, and another guy that we killed but was behaving strangely until we figured it out. Some players are invisible to others. You also can not hear their direct chat. I was in a building and a man ran up the stairs with an axe. I could not see him but my friend could who was right next to me. I could hear his axe shots hit the wall but could not see him. He wound up killing me. Earlier, a friend of mine ran into a building and started axing someone with a loaded weapon. He ran away and thought he was safe with my friend standing right in front of him. He started to bandage like nobody was there. My friend and I could both clearly see him but he couldn't see my friend. This just happened 10 minutes ago but haven't been able to replicate it. Anyone else experiencing this? Note: Both times a person was invisible, they were holding an axe in the "high ready" swinging position. Maybe there is a correlation here. -
I've created a bug report for this very topic. Check it out. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=8859

Pending Changelog: Experimental branch: 0.34.XXXXX
fnal replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
It is not hacking, I've discovered the glitch and it can be done on any building or wall. The problem arises when people do it in a building where a portion of the rooms are inaccessible, you can glitch into those rooms and walk around yet the walls are invisible from the inside. I believe there is already a feedback ticket for a very similar issue. -

I'm having graphics issues where my screen just goes black but the sound and game still continues and it comes back after about 2 seconds. Happens randomly and sometimes right after each other several times. Anyone having similar issues? -

I just switched to experimental and got the "You are dead" screen and my character on stable has been reset as well. Not sure if there is a connection here. -
A fresh spawn is no longer defenseless, they have the ability to punch. All it takes is one shot to your head and you can be knocked out. Here is a pro tip: Don't put your fists up and walk towards someone, that is a sign of threat or intimidation and is your own fault if you get killed that way.

If you have your own hardcore servers, why are we still complaining?

Dyslecxi shows just how amazing 1PP only is in NEW video.
fnal replied to Sidewinder24's topic in Gallery
I'm not too convinced that he would have been noticed if those players were in 3PP. Since the FOV is the same and the camera is only slightly further back and higher from the 1PP view, why would being in 1PP totally obscure him on the ground? The same could definitely happen in 3PP and I've done it before. -
Well I am trying to work on a lot of animations to demonstrate a camera fix but school work has come first. The 4th wall only fixes the issue with seeing players, loot, and zombies. It does not, however, fix the issue of still being able to see everything else over and around the walls. There is still an advantage of increased situational awareness. For example, a sniper has you pinned down, you could be looking over the wall and planning the best escape route when you couldn't otherwise in FPV. A fix I just animated was that the camera's focal rotational point is not on the player itself but a few feet behind him. So when you hold ALT and turn your head left, the camera immediately rotates and your character starts to move to the right part of your screen. At the same time, the camera also moves closer to the back side of your character's head so there is no possible way you could look around a wall. It's not perfect but I'd say it gets rid of 90% of the areas you wouldn't be able to see in real life.

This is rubber banding: It is a different issue because when this bug occurs after sprinting for a while, you can not do anything but Ctrl Alt Delete.

Getting nametags is as easy as asking that person in direct chat.

Optimization can be analogous to putting a coat of wax on a new car. You must wait until the car has been manufactured and painted before you can polish the final product.
-
It's not just a 1PP vs 3PP debate per say, the issue comes with the advantage of being able to see above and around walls, whether its a 3PP server or not. Just because we play in 3PP doesn't mean we like/accept how you can look around and over walls. It would be great if we could enjoy the perks of 3PP yet keep the playing field level.
-
I'm not advocating any of that at all. I enjoy playing in 3PP and don't like FPV but understand many players do. I'm trying to bridge the gap between the two and formulate an alternative to having only 1PP or 3PP servers. Wouldn't it be the best of both worlds if we could use both in the same server without any advantage to each?
-
The 4th wall alleviates some of the issue but they can still see the environment when you couldn't in FPV, there is still an advantage with that in terms of situational awareness. Also, this is a discussion topic on fixing the 3PP, why did this suddenly turn into "3PP sucks, it will never be fixed, we have 3PP and 1PP servers etc". It would be naive to say that it can never be fixed and ignorant to say that 3PP should be removed completely since a large majority of people simply can't enjoy the game in FPV.

Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that you knew what you wanted and not interested in my idea. Here's a tip, ignore what I have to say If you don't want to hear it I'm offering a possible solution that could allow both first person and third person to co-exist on the same server, since there seems to be a problem where FPV servers are low population.
-
I think you are missing the point about the issue with 3rd person. If you are 6ft tall in the game and are standing behind a 10ft wall, it would be impossible for you to peer over the edge unless you climb to the top and expose much of your head. In game, you can simply rotate your camera and look over the wall while your character is completely in cover. Yes, it's possible in real life to peek around corners and such but you must expose part of your body, you don't need to do that with the current 3rd person camera, that is the main issue. As far as not being able to view your character from all angles, I can understand that. I will try and make a 3d animation later tonight of the issues and solutions for them, as well as still being able to view your character from all angles yet be restricted from viewing beyond what you could in FPV.

The development team can only work so fast to produce the game to Dean's standards. Video games are immensely complex and take a lot of time to receive feedback, reproduce bugs, fix them, implement new sounds, models, animations, features, optimziation etc. Updates will come when they are ready, not when they are wanted. It sucks to anxiously wait but that's the reality of it.
