Thanks that's some good info. I'm totally new to dayZ and I really don't know my way around. I'm playing solo and so far I have resisted the urge to use an 'out of game' map. I can't read Russian and I kind of like the fact I have no means of navigation yet. I have been to an airfield and a prison but only because I stumbled into them. I was shot at the airfield as a geared up player spawned pretty much on top of me. I already love this game. Now to go axe hunting ...

been playing for a few days now. absolutely loving it. very easy to lose a good few hours without realising it. like most i have died a lot. mostly cos i really struggle to find a decent melee weapon. i have to skip alot of houses etc because there are zombies everywhere i go! i get a a little loot then have to run! i did get a fire axe once. i stumbled accross it after a few hours of running from zombies. it was really cool to be able to take a few out rather than just running and was a massive help. any tips on finding an axe or other decent melee weapon? are there places where they are more likely to be? does wearing a motorbike helmet help me to be unrecognised by zombies? im just about to respawn due to a player interaction gone bad. i know im gunna miss that fire axe. hope i can find another asap. tia
