So, about bipods... you can deploy them anywhere ... does the dispersion bonus work in any stance? Or only prone?

All credit to this thread on reddit, just wanted to post it here for more visibility. Basically, it would be really neat to be able to do a feign death animation with one of the f-keys, and it would also be neat to be able to walk around like a zombie in a similar fashion. Might give you some ability to escape player detection, let somebody loot your body while you pretend to be dead instead of having them outright kill you.

Ah well if you pulled them from the files then yeah I guess these values are kinda whack. If the devs were going for simulating an untrained person's inaccuracy, couldn't they just make the weapon sway more instead of giving it dispersion?

You pull these radii from ingame files or from testing? Not that I really doubt any of these, just curious. Anyway, yeah, I'm at a bit of a loss for understanding why the dispersion seems so crap. It 'could' be that most of the weapons we are using are ruined or badly damaged, but we can't tell due to a current bug preventing weapon status from showing up. Also, is there any word on if we'll be able to repair weapons or attachments in the future?

I've run across the Magna Carta, the Origin of Species and the New Testament among others. What I really want to find is that damned English to Cyrillic guide! At this point I think I've learned maybe 1/3 of Cyrillic characters from road signs lol.

Disabling out of game comms is impossible. You'd have to run like a DayZ operating system lol. That being said, it would be neat for radio towers, or backpack radios like in ACE to be able to broadcast to walkie talkies and all those little radio sets you find on tables everywhere. -

They are planning to add a combat logging management system that will introduce timer delays and such BUT this may not occur for sometime due to the extra load it adds to servers/global-hive. Expect this to come eventually as they slowly tweak and refine their code. -
Upon realizing how stupidly rare those rounds would be, I actually made an entire post about adding a handloading system to the game which would allow you to load your own subsonic rounds.

My friend suggested this as well and that is another good idea, I'll edit the OP. Mechanically, I don't see why this would be the case. A properly reloaded cartridge is going behave very similarly to a manufacturer cartridge; the cartridge overall is the same size as a manufacturer cartridge, the bullet is the same size, and if you're using good powder then barrel fouling from particulate should be similar. Perhaps its metallurgic. Does not having a copper jacket really cause that much of a problem? To the best of my knowledge the burning temperature of cordite is 180C where lead melts at 330C and copper melts at 1100C... so I guess that could be it.

... What? Why not? Why wouldn't cast lead bullets feed? You do bring up a good point though, you would run out of primers and such at some point.

Well this game is built on an engine derived from military simulation... :P But I totally think this would add a whole new level of player interaction with the world, would make for more varied play styles (same reason I can't wait for hunting animals to be added in), and has the possibility of creating new social dynamics. Just like how there are groups of players that provide medical attention to wounded players, maybe you could get a group of players with the proper ammo creation ability to give/trade ammo to other players.

So I voted for high-grade military weapons being really rare ... but there is an important problem here that the phrasing of the poll brings up. The poll options are written in terms of what we actually see players using, NOT how rare weapon spawns are. Rarity of weapon spawns, at the moment, has a huge disconnect from what you're actually going to see people with. Why? Because anyone (and all their friends) can go spawn on an empty server, trek up to NWAF and grab an M4, which presumably should be the rarest of all weapons currently in the alpha. Then you trek back down near Cherno or Elektro, log into a popular server and proceed to murder newspawns. Nothing I am aware of in the announced development plan will change this, even once the full game comes out. It's a sort of fundamental problem with the whole system. The only possible thing I could think of to fix it would be the server somehow intelligently scaling item rarity based on players in the server. As I understand it, currently everything just spawns once, but the finished product is supposed to be things respawning on some kind of timer system. So, to prevent the scenario I've just outlined from happening, you'd have to have rare items become even more rare on low population servers while presumably making common items more common.

If there were a way for DayZ to handle subsonic rounds causing the weapon to be manually cycled each shot, this might work, but finding already made subsonic rounds ... if 'realistic'... you'd never find them. They're just stupidly rare and uncommon.

I'm not sure it its that other players foot steps should be louder, or if the ambient noises are too loud, but yes, something like a 30% boost in people volume would be good. Also totally agree that doors should make noises when they open.
