I see a lot of servers that advertise they are designed for new players by saying "no kos" or "no bandits" and stating tey will ban anyone caught PKing other players. Can admins set these types of rules on public servers?

Someone told me the press vest can take 4 or 5 hits from an M4. How does that work? If someone hits it 3 times, does the system remember the number of times it has been hit, and then if it is hit once several days later it's used up? Does the item condition change after it has been hit? If I have a "worn" vest and a "badly damaged" vest, will one stand up to more shots than the other?

I was on top of this roof in that factor town a couple miles south of Berenzino, and heard an explosion. I looked and saw an actual fireball and then this cloud of smoke. I knew gas statiions could explode, but what could have caused this? Edit: Nevermind -it looks like it is actually a gas station in the distance. Why does it explode everytime I log on?

What a terrible response. I have 150+ hours game time. 150,000 hours in game won't answer my question of whether non kos servers are allowed. And I never said I wanted a non-kos server, I wanted to know if they were within the rules.

Thanks for the clarification. Why don't they shut down the servers that advertise that in their description like this one? I logged into one tonight that said if you approach another player and don't lower your weapon or refuse to provide your in game name at admin request, you will be banned.

I ran up the stairs and saw this guy standing in front of 3 of his corpses hitting them with an axe. A few seconds later his living character disappeared, and reappeared behind me and started shooting me. Was this guy hacking?

He disappeared and reappered behind me within 8 or 9 seconds. Not fast enough to switch servers. Although it is also entirely possible he just ran behind me really quickly and I didn't notice. I was trying to get my axe out and the stupid hotkey wouldn't work and I was really nervous.

How do you attach the weapon flashlight to the m4? I have tried dragging it several times and it won't turn green, so I figured it didn't work. -
I've never used a microphone with games before, but I grabbed one I had laying around and plugged it into my computer. I know it works, because I can hear it coming out of my speakers. I try pressing caps lock and turning on direct communication, and the mike symbol comes on, but I don't think it is working. I tried recording a dayz video and speaking into it and it didn't come out on the video. I ran the mike test in the audio config to have it auto adjust the volume and that worked as well, but I guess no one can hear me?

Stuck behind locked door in military base. How do I get out?

I was running inside the base and I randomly got warped behind the locked door on the bottom floor. I have tried running along all walls, vaulting, going prone, etc. Is there anything I can do other than die of hunger? I spent roughly 20 hours of game time trying to get here with all the stuff I have so it would really suck to start over. I have a ton of food and 4 full canteens on me. -

Holy crap that worked! I just ran up to a wall and started axing it (but not spinning) while vaulting and it forced me through. Thanks DTR! -

Next time you see someone shoot them before they can shoot you. Or run away. Don't try to talk to people or help anyone or do anything with other players. 95% of people will shoot you in the head and take your stuff. I used to be friendly and talk to people. What a newbie mistake. Now I kill or be killed. -
I know the game is alpha and I expect bugs, but I can't take anymore 6-10 hour sessions of running halfway across the map, only to log in and see I have randomly restarted for some reason. Going to wait 4 months then come back. This is way too frustrating.

I fell off that huge tower in Berezino and died after spending about 20 hours collecting weapons and gear. I was fully decked out. I started back about 6 miles away and ran as quickly as possible back to the tower, which took about 1.5 hours, but when I got there I couldn't find my body. Does it matter that I switched servers between dying and running back? I know it's possible someone found my body but it's unlikely they would have taken all items and I think it's also unlikely someone would have gone to that specific location in that amount of time. Does my corpse decay after awhile?
