Haha, subtle and probably true :) -

I agree. By the time his new project is up and running with a playable alpha (maybe 2016-2017), DayZ SA will most likely be played to death, so good timing. -

This is what I feel is happening/happened: - Dean develops DayZ mod for Arma II - BI recognizes it could be a standalone game and incentivizes Dean to be the lead designer, he accepts. - Dean gets a team to work on the SA - Since BI is not sure about how many units they'll be able to sell, they advise releasing an early access version. (To see what interest is out there) - Dean's team rework the RV3 engine to suit the SA better, Early access goes live. - millions of ppl buy the early access. Money rolls in. - Dean realizes he can't implement everything he wanted in the game due to engine limitations. His team advises him on what's possible and what's not. - Since reworking the game fundamentally (new engine) is not plausible: - Dean decides to move on, take the money he made and put it into his own studio. Future: - Dean creates a new game studio, hires a team - The new project will probably be another survival simulator with a completely new engine that can actually accommodate everything he wanted. - The engine will be either bought from another developer or developed in-house<-- doubtful) - Since he won't have enough money, he will most likely start a kickstarter campaign or early access. In it: - Dean will most likely reference DayZ as his creation to get money for his new project, but he will outline DayZ's flaws and how he won't make the same mistakes again. - People will support his new project. Most will stop playing DayZ and move over to his new project. - DayZ SA will be finished and released but only the most dedicated players will continue playing it. - Continuous development of DayZ will slowly stop as BI will notice servers are slowly dissapearing and there is less and less interest. -

I've died probably 20 times since I got this SA in Dec and 90% of the time I re-spawned in Electro. Couple of times in Solnichniy and once in Kamenka. So I can confirm it is extremely random. Every time I watch someone stream they re-spawn in Solnichniy though. -

Are you sure it isn't something else? I'm running 2x gtx480's reference design on an i7-920 (old architecture) and i get 30 fps in cities too. What resolution are you running it at? -
What maps would you want in the Standalone?
jan3sobieski replied to Draco122's topic in General Discussion
I would love to see the little Russian piece of land between Poland and Lithuania, it's where Kaliningrad is. This would be the location -
...or until the server randomly respawns you on the beach again... with nothing.

I have an idea for helping with the KOS problem. Rocket should read.

They're not telling me to shoot everyone but with the game in its current state, that's the easiest thing to do. I've been playing the game for almost two weeks now and have never run into a friendly player yet unless it was a bambi and even then they weren't friendly, they just knew they didn't have the upper hand, so they left. And here you are again, telling me how I should play the game. -
Wow, what an honorable player.

Yes, PvP should be in the game. It's an essential part of the game and the experience. But unless this KoS mentality has any drawbacks, there is no reason not to do it. It's just easier to KoS. So if a karma/stress/conscience/whatever system is a no go, then give people options, like PvP and PvE servers. To me, it's more of an issue of trying to enjoy the game I purchased. But with this constant KoS'ing, I can't. The only way to play is to adapt to playing the game the way others want me to. Because it is their OPINION that that's how the game should be. Well, my opinion and apparently hundreds of others who play is that the game should be more than that. [edit] Please see the post below mine. That's the problem. "Just how i like to play games." Well, I like to play them differently. Do I have a choice? Not really. -

Yes, we know about those riots. But you should elaborate why they started in the first place. Police brutality and unfair (in many opnions) judgement in favor of the police force. Then a bunch of a-holes started riots and 58 ppl died. (BTW, they didn't respawn) Everything was squelched after the US military was called in. End of crisis. Even though I don't support the rioters, they did it because they had a reason to. Unfair treatment. A lot of KoS'ers here just kill others for fun or out of boredom. No real agenda. If you don't believe me, read someone's response 4 posts above this one. -

If you didn't read what the 'death penalty' answer was in regards to, they you're the one who should shut the hell up as you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Nobody suggested anything like that for the game. -

Yes, and as you can see and hear HERE in one of his latest dev blogs, He wants to introduce the "destroyed" condition of items into the game to shift away from the shoot on sight mentality. He obviously sees the problem with what the game's become. He says "I think this is really, really key aspect that we're actually adding...[talks about inventory] ...and this combined with the restraint mechanic is going allow us to make some end roads on this basic sort of shoot on sight mentality, because if you shoot a player there is the real danger of destroying the items they have on them." -

That's funny, now you're arguing that KoS'ing is ok because the game doesn't have to be authentic. That's going against all the other KoS's argue. That this is a sandbox game and they should be able to do whatever they want as they would in reality.
