1. You take some clothes. 2. You sew some mesh onto the clothes 3. you stuff grass into the mesh. They teach you all the skills necessary to do this in 6th grade home ec class.. literally every kid who has played outdoors has done this. There are people who are barely 18 in recon training who do this. Look at this ghillie coat and tell me you are going to overheat in a freezing climate such as Chernaurus. If you think it's too hot, you just thin it out. You can put as much or as little material on it as you like... It's custom made in the field to fit your conditions. And they are in fact not very heavy. You have probably only seen store-bought ghillies that cover your entire body like a wookie in some fake cloth strips and wool that are unnecessarily hot and heavy. Actual snipers just go into the field with a mesh and use grass. Half-dead grass at that. Half-dead grass isn't heavy. The reason every soldier isn't equipped with one is because most soldiers aren't snipers. They aren't trying to lay still and hide in a bush, they are running around to flank and shit like that. Ghillie would be close to useless to them. Not to mention most soldiers operate in urban environments. When you are busting down doors it's kind of detrimental to have grass and string flying around in your face, and clogging up your action, blocking your vest, the list goes on. tl;dr get off your high horse.

It would make sense in a simulator such as this. Third person is only necessary because 1) It's a supreme disadvantage vs anyone using third person, B,) It gives you a headache because the movement is terrible(pressing W to take one step and moving 3 steps forward instead; going through doorways is retarded) and 4) You can't even see the ammo that spawns on top of the blue lockers. These 5 reasons are exactly why first-person-only servers are 100% useless right now. I'm new to this game, and the only reason I can think of to include third person is to keep any would-be-whiny ARMA vets quiet, disirregardtheless of the fact that third person has absolutely no place in a 'military simulator'. The problem is that Bohemia included it in the first place. This is why I have not nor will ever buy a self-labeled simulator that includes third person. Why label your game a simulator when all it's simulating is a hovering camera-drone following some guy around? The option to disable third person is not an excuse. "But I wanna see muh kewl d00d in third person looking cool!" The fact that people are using the term 'FPV fanboys' shows how immature they too can be. I haven't used the word enough so I'll say it one more time for effect: "simulator". ARMA was designed for gamers, this is why VBS even exists; to be taken seriously. DayZ is an obvious exception to this rule since A) it's amazing and II) the mod was originally built with the limitations set forth by the game. When it's fixed, I will be happy with the fact that first person servers exist, given there is no way to hack into 3pp on 1pp only servers. In the meantime this is the most fun I've had in a game in all of 2013, and it will likely continue as I wade through my own blood and tears each day, waiting for each pending patch. I'm happy to contribute in whatever ways I choose, and ecstatic that I've finally spent the most well-placed 30 dollars that I can remember. This relatively bare alpha is more rewarding than most 2013 shipped titles twice its price.

I tried it once and didn't work. Should have kept trying.

Hunter backpack or Mountain backpack ?
lifelonghalo replied to matiman's topic in General Discussion
I don't get it. You stored your axe in your backpack? It goes on your back. -
Buuuuuut you tried typing in chat and the enter key worked?

He's probably right, I fell down a 6 foot ladder and broke my leg on the NE end of Berezino, crawled like 1km for about 30 minutes to the SW end of it to get to the hospital for some morphine, server restarted when I was outside the hospital and I logged back in with my leg fixed. That's the most serious injury in the game and I haven't found any evidence that time heals a broken leg but I did take about 4 painkillers so who knows.

An Issue with the New Spawns AKA "The Kamyshovo Massacre"
lifelonghalo replied to wgaf's topic in General Discussion
You just sound unlucky. I haven't died since the patch though. My friends spawned thrice in three different locations along the east coast today. -
Page up/Page down. Eyeball it. Hopefully you're an experienced shooter. Even so, I always overestimate ranges. Don't estimate while zooming, it messes me up a lot, I usually mistake the target for an extra hundred meters and hit them in the neck while aiming center of mass. It's easier to zero for a shorter range and aim for the head. The scope needs mil dots.
-
I've killed a guy at about 600 meters with the long range scope in ruined condition. Target was standing still, shooting at my friends. The travel time also is totally whack, I was testing at 400 meters and it takes over one full second to impact, making it ridiculously difficult to hit moving targets. The 1891/30 has a muzzle velocity of at least 800 m/s, do the math.

DayZ StandAlone Clan/The Saviours
lifelonghalo replied to Tyler77189's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
I'm gonna keep my eye on this then, even if it's not on a server owned by the group, just playing on the same server with like-minded people is nice. Like-minded meaning not KOS dickbags This isn't going to be like one of those on-call "you tell us what server you're on and we will go to that server and help" kind of deal is it? Those are kind of lame. I guess its safe to assume "might possibly rent a server" means you will be sticking almost exclusively to that one. Makes sense when construction is added too. -
Because they are douchebags, obviously. It isn't fun to play any of the games you mentioned because the person you killed is going to respawn in 10 seconds with a full loadout. There are zero consequences. If you were an asshole, would you rather kill someone in TF2 where he will just respawn, or kill him in Skyrim and make him lose his 500 hours played character? The point of heroes is to counter bandits, not zombies. Heroes are needed more than ever because there is nothing BUT bandits and they are hurting the community by making noobs quit the game. Most heroes are still playing the mod, which should be frowned upon honestly because if they love the game enough to be a hero in the mod, they should at least try to support the actual title and get on here and help noobs out so it doesn't become a ghost town. It's alpher enough as it is, if new players aren't turned off enough by that, they sure as hell will be when they die 6 times per hour like I've been reading. It's hard to imagine with the sales that we have seen thus far that the game will fail but it's still in a very fragile state.
