when you spawn in solinichy or kamishovo run north until berizino, in berizino go to construction yard for backpack maybe some ammo or fire.splitting axe, check diner across road for weapon attachments, backpacks, axes if you can't find in construction site. head to the lumber mill next and go into the school. Check bottom for food, top for guns. Next (assuming you've been smart and carefull and not killed already) head inland into town and check the grocery store by the two big apartment building for food and a compass. Head to the hospital further inland for medical supplies, check the grocery store near the hospital for more food and whatever. Go the well across the street of the hospital to the north. Next go back to the coast and head north, go into the trainstation and check for vests/food. Check all the barns and wharehouses for clothing/weapons. Head North on the coast until you find the shipwreck. Check inside bunks for cool stuff like military vests, bullet proof vests, bomber jackets, and random junk. When you get out of the shipwreck run directly towards the tar road with the sea at your back. When you get to the road head South for a short distance untill you get to a gravel road. Turn right and head down it untill it forks. When it forks go right again. Go on this road past the big rocks until you come to a bunch of logs. You'll know you are the right place if you can see a stream to your right. Turn towards it and run so that you hit the area where the stream has a break in it. Carry on going that way and you'll get to the North Eastern Airfield. Check it for guns and other gear. Hopefully you'll be geared up enough now to go either towards elektro or the North Western Airfield and be able to defend yourself. Remember the person who is spotted first dies so be sneaky and remain unseen. Look twice move once, take your time.

Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.33.114782
gungza replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
I mean serverhopping suxx as well, but sometime its necessary... for example when your selected server carries no loot anymore.... nowhere DayZ, you are doing it wrong... If there is no loot there is no loot, that is the whole point, man up or go play something else. -
1. No, atm there are only two states in the game, standing still and moving. Crawling consumes just as much energy as sprinting. 2. You know a server restarts when your game disconnects and you have to connect again. Open doors = no loot. 3. easy to open cans, axes, knives, screw drivers, hack saws, there is no reason to starve unless you suck at life. 4. Hardcore and regular hives. (don't server hop unless you fail at life and want everyone to know how much you suck at life) 5. Zeds. splitting axe two body shots or one headshot, fireaxe one shot even if you hit it on the foot, no reason to use guns on zombies yet unless you suck at life, only wasting ammo and letting every bandit close by know where you are. 6. Eating rotten food means you suck at life, 7. Shoes, pick up what you like, i like the violet jogging shoes and the redpunk military boots, no difference between them yet. Ruined shoes looks really scruffy but wearing them won't make you suck at life.

What's the difference between Regular & Hardcore?
gungza replied to the_daddy2009's topic in New Player Discussion
it does look like there are slightly more zombies on hardcore but it might be my imagination. -
DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.

It is impossible for everyone to like every game, if your friend doesn't like it, it probably means your friend, uhhm, doesn't like it. There is nothing wrong with the game in that sense or your friend, he just has different taste. There is no reason your friend should like all the same games as you. -
Use the lines to guess distance, set range with page up/page down, if you don't have time for that, just spray and pray :-P
-
we actually tested the dispersion today shooting at a billboard at different distances, let's just say on a human sized target none of your pellets will hit at anything more than 10m. Even at pointblank, standing next to a target only 3 of the 10 pellets hit. Finally a friend volunteered, not wanting to kill him I stood about 30m away and shot half-hartedly at him, not one pellet hit. Conclusion, a 10 slot secondary weapon with a tremendous recoil and huge dispersion, better off with a magnum. Maybe once slugs spawn it might be better weapon.

The server hopper You are standing in a military prison you just cleared, you here a ka-klak-klak, you tell your buddies someone logged in close by, they ignore you carrying on eating or looting and then bam-bam-bam, one of your buddies drops and the guy who shot him is already logging into the next server because he has nothing better to do with his life than to look for loot that he doesn't need and probably won't use. The Airfield Camper Same as the sniper except he has an M4 and hides in the top story of the military prison shooting you as you run up the stairs. The glitcher The most lame piece of shit that roams the lands or floats in the sea. Usually travels in groups of pimple faced, squeeky voiced virgins. Will somehow position themselves under the floor of a military prison, under the ground of elektro or on top of a school in the glitch loot spot. Usually starts singing because he thinks he is freaking you out, mean time you know exactly where he is but you can't do anything about it since you are a fair player and don't want to use glitches just to kill a worthless glitcher because that would make you one those hated breads. Lastly the biggest killer in dayz: The server itself You log in and you are dead, you log back in, but it doesn't help, you restart your pc, you restart steam, you are still dead. KoS'd by the server...

Servers with connection issues to central hive
gungza replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
problem is you don't need to be a hacker to hack games, it only takes one hacker to write a script or cheat engine and distribute it and then the game is ruined for everyone, having stuff stored on the server is more secure, so let's chill and let the devs do their work, it's in our interest in the long term even if we suffer a bit in the short term. -
Servers with connection issues to central hive
gungza replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
your character isn't gone, the server you are playing on has config errors and is not connecting to the hive, if you connect to a server that communicates with the hive your character will be back, simple as that. It is not the patch that broke things but server admins who are slow to update their servers. -
you guys are wasting your time eating and picking up vitamins, it's supposed to prevent and fight infections, has nothing to do with healthy status. Since infections aren't in the game yet it's a waste of time eating them and a waste of space carrying them around. I have had people swearing to me that vitamins gets you healthy faster, but i'm always healthy before them because i don't waste time with vitamins ;-)
-
yeah in my defense i only played about 4 hours last night, and my last concern was getting healthy since my character would get wiped after server reset anyways (server was not properly configured to save to hive), i was just startled by the huge nerf to stomach capacity, since i had to eat twice before getting healthy when we had huge stomachs, and now i can't even eat two cans without getting full. But anyways if you guys say it isn't a big deal then maybe I should experiment more.
-
3 of us combed the entire map last night, we found plenty of food and didn't go in every house. However we went to all military installations (that includes green mountain, zelenogorsk, and pavlovo) except balota and found the following, 1x m4, 2x mosins (at a school), a couple of fnx's, a couple of magnums and one shotgun. Weapons are really scarce and i think that's cool. However the nerfed stomach makes it almost impossible to get healthy. I drank water at place i spawned (solinichy) and made my way to berizino, at berizino I ate some tuna, from berizino to NEAF, from NEAF to NWAF, halfway to NWAF I got hungry but i could only eat two cans before I was full... How are you supposed to reach 3000 energy and 4000 water and maintain that if you can barely eat anything? I think your stomach capacity is half what it was before the patch.

the loot has always been in the tents with dirt floors, the plank floor tents with one entrance never spawned anything
-
This has been like this since the last patch before this one. They kind of tweaked the pathfinding, if the door is closer the zombie will go for the door, but if the door is far away the zombie will still go through the wall. They still clip through outside walls and fences like they don't exist though, but the path finding is definately better than it was initially. And yes zombies do rarely climb stairs now but they still have a greater chance to just clip through the stairs and wonder around downstairs following your path.

The defib should be used to jump start a heart, eg if you are dead. You wouldn't defib an unconscious person in real life, you could kill him lol, so i don't think the defib works as intended in the stable release yet.
-
you don't need a code
-
resolved can mean that it's resolved in a future patch or in a developer build, it doesn't mean it has to be resolved in the alpha afaik.
-
all that is needed is a 10 second timer, but during the timer you only see a black screen and you can't move in game. Even logging out behind hard cover will be a risk. and if you manage then kudo's, but seeing people dissapear while they are in your scope is not cool.
-
despite all the reasons posted here already, I've lost squad mates to people who spawn in prison's/braracks/airfields/schools, shoot someone and then logs out. I mean c'mon, really? If you log in near me while server hopping i'll put you down, so there is a reason not to do it because you WILL die.

We must first see how much the Saline bags gets nurfed. The notes say they won't give you back all your blood anymore and I think they left ir vauge for a reason. My guess is that it will still be more effective and safer than a blood bag but we'll have to see. Even if they nurf it down from 5000 to 2500 that is still a huge nurf while still making it a better choice than a blood tranfusion of 1000 blood that can potentially kill you. First thing i'll do when the patch comes out is fill 4 blood bags and then get someone to IV a saline bag into me and see how much of my colour returns for a rough estimate.

Just because you are a hypocrit doesn't mean we are all hypocrits. Some of us have enough integrity to do what we feel is right in every situation both in game and IRL. Just because you let your emotions determine your playstyle it doesn't mean there aren't level headed people out there on both sides who are actually trying to accomplish something in the game. Not dissing you but i feel you are doing yourself a disservice by believing your own generalisations.

no some lakes/ponds are bugged at the moment but it's definately possible to drink from some of them and even to fill your canteen in them. Some of them just have specific trigger points so walk around the edge scrolling your mouse wheel untill the option to drink appears. Not a fan of drinking from lakes and ponds, a water fountain is so much easier and they are everywhere. Most big cities have atleast 3 and smaller towns have at least one sometimes 2.
