A cheeky trick to SUPERZOOM your weapon sight/scope (video)
gungza replied to acapona's topic in New Player Discussion
the fov shouldn't change the zoom it should only change your peripheral vision like it does in all other games. This is not a good implentation of FOV and I hope it gets fixed down the road. Bascially it zooms in all axis, it should only zoom horizontally when changed. But while it is like this, and seeing that the draw distance is pretty pathetic I don't see a problem with using it to see further. -
398 hours, if you don't believe me then fine.

please don't make this game like nether, you have rewards, perks, and quests but the game is boring and has no suspense, even with all the dynamic events it still feels pointless playing it, I would rather make my own story, create my own missions and take things one day at a time, I thought that is what this game is about, not some noddy badge mechanic that moves you forward like a carrot on a stick but some real purpose that you can decide for yourself.

nah i don't feel like moving on, not yet, this bone isn't picked clean yet :-P Doesn't matter if it is natural green, the green is not the problem, it's the texture, and i don't mean the bitmap that is loaded as a texture, I mean the texture as in it is smooth, it is not course, so it does not look natural, also it is specular, that means it reflects light, not much but just enough for me to spot someone, it's not totally mat, but it is also not glossy, i would say it is semi glossy, it does not provide good camo, ask anyone who snipes a lot in this game.
-
just becuase something is green doesn't make it good camo, nothing in nature is smooth and specular like that helmet, it is easy to spot. Beanies and radar caps are not easy to spot because of their size and texture. And yes like someone said ruined ones blend better because they are not single toned. This is my list of dead giveaways: 1. bright clothes 2. neon backpacks 3. wearing army gear in a urban environment or near rocks (grey and black works much better there) 4. balistic helmets
-
ballistic helmet is definately not camo'd, if you think it gives you camo then think again, a brown/green/black beanie or radar cap is harder to spot than a helmet. Those helmets stick out and doesn't blend with environment.

To all of those who yell ALPHA at any sort of suggestion
gungza replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I have never seen someone yelled down with alpha when reporting bugs or making sensible suggestions. When people do get yelled down is when they moan about character loss, when they expect the devs to not take a weekend and fix bugs like this past friday, when people moan about loot spawns, lack of variety in gear or about cars not being in the game or other BS like that. Yes we all know it is alpha, but it seems like 80% of the community needs to be constantly reminded of that fact, maybe if we can have more sensible posts, less moaning and more reasonable suggestions then you'll see people shouted down with the alpha disclaimer less... -
Lol we say "get on the ground" and then we count to five, we like helping people but we like staying alive more :-P

Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.34.115106
gungza replied to mattlightfoot's topic in News & Announcements
I have made a private report about this on the bugtracker this morning, please edit your post so other people can't see it, and also don't report things like this in the public view of the bugtracker or forum, make it private. -
Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.34.115106
gungza replied to mattlightfoot's topic in News & Announcements
maybe this guy is just good, remember where ever you hide someone has hid there before, I know where to look for campers, and people know where to look for me, being smart only gets you that far, sometimes being stupid gets you further. -
shot a guy in the leg with a mosin at long range, poor bastard was crawling around until a friend finished him off close range. RIP unknown guy who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
-
Maybe if you contact DayZ support and explain your problem they might give you a refund. I think it is better for you to get a refund and then maybe pay full price for the game later...
-
Why do want to play on a server that doesn't allow people to shoot you? You want to die of boredom? You want to be oblivious to the whole experience of DayZ? I killed two guys with one bullet tonight, I did them a favour because they were walking around Berizino looking far too relaxed, they forgot the spirit of DayZ. But the worm turns and maybe tomorrow i'll drop my guard and get mowed down. So don't dispair, death comes to us all no matter how many survivors we take with us.

Go play a game like Nether and then we can talk again. It is easy to think the grass is greener on the other side if you haven't been there. Trust me the grass is full of dog shit and there are flies everywhere. DayZ is awesome even in this barebones state, if the developers keep this course it will just get better. If you don't have anything to do it's not the developer's fault but your own lack of imagination, go torture some bambi's, get some friends together and try to hold an airfield, try to kick all the KoS'rs out of elektro, even with nothing to do there is still plenty to do if you just put your mind to it.

Is most gear supposed to get ruined even after a clean headshot?
gungza replied to infiltrator's topic in New Player Discussion
got shot in the leg and only my pants and stuff in pockets were ruined. I got shot in the foot and only my shoes were ruined. Are you sure you got a clean headshot? Those magnums can be unwieldly bastards :-P -
dude if you want to help people play in a group, don't just run up to a new spawn and offer help, they don't need your help, how many times when you spawned did you need help? You are just helping people for the sake of helping them. What we do is we surround a player and start to question him, where did you die, how did you die? Where are the hotspots? What is your username? Then he asks us for stuff. Do you have saline? Do you have an extra can opener? One guy even asked me for a gun, lol, fat chance. Then sometimes they want to come with us and that is fine, we protect them while they gear, but we remain suspicious and one member always has a shot on him. In short don't run up to people like a noob and offer them stuff, let them ask, and surround them, let them know that if they attack there is 0 chance they'll kill you or live. And then take it from there but remain vigilant. Most of my encounters with other players have been positive, had some tense situations too that didn't develop into pvp just by staying aware, staying hidden or staying visible, whatever the situation required.

It is an indication of how well the server and your client are syncing. 0 being perfect and 100 000 being not at all. If at 100 000 what you see on your screen (client) and what synced players see on their screen (what is actually happening on the server) will be different. If you are 100 000 people will appear to be standing still or running in one place, you can't use your inventory or take out your guns, and you can't hear gun shots or foot steps.

Well done combat loggers and Server hoppers!
gungza replied to Z0mbi3z's topic in New Player Discussion
I think there are some things wrong with your post. First, looting up on a non-populated server and then going to a populated one to fight is not how the game is meant to be played. If you log onto a server then that is where you play. Once the private hives are up you will suffer because everytime you change servers you'll have a new toon. I think this timer is just a temporary fix for the public hive. What will you do then if your friend is playing on a different private hive? Choose a server and play on it, if there is no loot then there is no loot, that is survival, not going to another server. Secondly giving god mode to a player who logs out totally defeats the purpose of having the timer, the timer is to prevent people from logging out in mid combat. If you are too lazy to check for zombies or other players before you log out then you must die, because lazy people don't survive in extreme conditions such as this. Anyways that is my 2 cents. -
so you shot him in the chest and ruined his backpack and all the food? Lol maybe you are not the best bandit...
-
it doesn't really matter what you wear, if someone is shooting at you chances are you are going to die. Don't rely on your gear rely on your wit if possible, most times though when someone shoots we panic lol, the stakes are just so damn high :-)

I have no problems finding m4's, they are rare but still can be found. Long range scopes on the other hand, man, those things are like super rare now.

Zombies Spotting You From A Distance.
gungza replied to uk aidan uk's topic in New Player Discussion
look at their cone of vision, it's very narrow, you can stand a little to the front of them and they still won't see you as long as they have their backs turned. Use that to your advantage. also they have an incredible short attention span, just fist sprint away a few meters and they loose interest. -
Well there are already zombie rabbits :-P
