"Friendlies" are just a bunch of lamers
WastedSpaceman replied to gamerer's topic in General Discussion
There can't be an honest test of ability between your group of soldiers and my friends and I. It would be asymmetric warfare. I was referring to the firing line because that's the closest thing we could have to a fair fight in DayZ. If we both tried, we'd both dig in to tactical positions and one would have a geographical upper hand. Plus, I don't want to lose my press vest. It boosts my CDI factor ten fold. -

That's a draconian concept. While you're standing in a nice, neat line worried more about chivalry than winning, my posse will be taking tactical positions and eliminating you with a single volley. You wouldn't know what hit you. -

Truthfully speaking, if there ever were to be a failure of civility, or a "societal collapse," the weak would be prey for the strong. That doesn't mean you need to run around doing horrible, immoral things. But to exude a position of weakness and vulnerability by immediately submitting to others is asking to be robbed or killed. Peace through strength and superior firepower. You can keep your hippy garbage. #tigerblood #winning -

You're so easy to manipulate B) And no, it was from Michael Newman. -
Come on guys don't give him a hard time. The only thing to really do in Alpha besides give feedback to the devs is anticipate the next patch anyway. 1) Get geared 2) Kill other armed players 3) Repeat 1 & 2 until tired 4) Give feedback to devs if you found anything relevant 5) Go to sleep 6) Go to work 7) Return from work 8) Anxiously check for new content 9) Begin at step 1

Does anyone else feel like those who announce "friendly! friendly!" over comms sound like emasculated wimps? Unless you're setting someone up for an ambush by luring them in, it's just so...weak. I have no respect for the weak. At least be creative and say something like "don't shoot! I'm just looking for some Preparation-H!" Telling me you're "friendly" is a request for high velocity lead therapy to the cranium. http://youtu.be/Ivz4NA4zHzQ?t=58s -
I'm jealous. I wish I was able to answer my own questions, too :D

Where can the long range scope be found?
WastedSpaceman replied to TheStevieJ's topic in General Discussion
I've found boat loads of pristine accessories in the military tents at Balota. Or like Jonesy said...just let some other schmuck find one then take it from his cold dead hands. The latter is much more satisfying. -

Been playing with WCO for over a week and they're a damn good group of people. -
I found it on the Rify. Now I know where all the fruit we find in Chernarus came from!

I've never seen this either.

What can we expect after streamers? Long post

Let them do whatever they want. The kind of awful player you're referring to will willingly hand over $30 to the development team, then quit when they realize there aren't isn't a 23 kill streak nuke or whatever CoD does these days. It doesn't much matter whether or not they play, because they wouldn't offer constructive feedback. In my opinion, it's FAR better to weed these players out now, in Alpha when no one actually cares about dying constantly, than after the official release. I'm sure they will still be ever-present, though. And besides, are you saying there will only be rational, mature people in a zombie apocalypse, or more broadly, any failure of civility? If you want the game to be realistic, then invite the psychotic 12-year old CoD players. They will go gather gear for us, and we will collect it when we kill them. I personally like that model. -
This was a few days ago. I walked to the end of my driveway and shouted "I won DayZ!!!!!" then didn't know what else to do with my life so I've just been creeping on the forums.

I am not here to coddle your delicate feelings. I was trying to assist by pointing you in the right direction. Go get a CCNP and troubleshoot it yourself.

People may have a fix when you have some actual information to provide about the problem, dude. What server(s) are you noticing this problem on? I'm assuming that since you can use punctuation that you're smart enough to have tried multiple servers but you didn't indicate one way or the other. What kind of connection do you have? Let's see screenshots of a ping -t and a tracert, and maybe a speedtest result. Your post is like walking into the doctor's office and saying "I don't feel good. What's wrong?" and expecting him to have an answer.

Two players in same house through same router, can't connect.
WastedSpaceman replied to Ndemco's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't matter that your computers have different IPs. Those are private IPs that only exist on your network. They are likely 192.168.x.x which is duplicated probably 500 million times in the world. They're still connecting to the public internet via the modem which has one IP (which you can see by going to http://www.whatismyip.com/). If you're playing on your own Steam accounts, which it sounds like you are now, then try having one of the computers connect to the internet via a proxy. It will probably be slow and laggy, but it would immediately prove or disprove the theory about sharing a single public IP. EDIT: I meant have one of the computers connect to DayZ through a proxy. Not just "the internet." The purpose of that would be that Steam/DayZ would see the proxy IP address, as opposed to your own. Of course, if someone else was playing Steam through the same proxy for some reason....it wouldn't work and I'm not sure that you would know whether or not that was happening. You probably want to post this stuff on the bug forum as well! I'm sure they have some very skilled and intelligent network professionals on the dev team who would be able to investigate. You are not the first person to have this exact same issue, by the way. I've seen several other posts about it on here. -
If I get the jump on somebody, which I do most of the time (otherwise I almost always get shot), I'll give them a command to stop moving. If they don't comply, I shoot and advise them that an inability to listen is detrimental to their health. That's pretty much my criteria...it has nothing to do with whether or not the player has a mic.

I just wanted to say thank you. As someone who bought Battlefield 4 on release (a "finished product"), and someone who bought DayZ SA Alpha on release (ALPHA!!!! Not even Beta yet!), you have done an incredible job in making improvements to the game, even with a holiday break coming only days after the game was made available on Steam. Meanwhile DICE flopped around like a fish out of water throwing hot fixes against the wall, hoping something would stick, but really they only caused more problems. So...bravo. I am thrilled to see a game developer that takes game developing seriously and is also so receptive to their player base. That's all. Carry on.

Thank you for being better than DICE
WastedSpaceman replied to WastedSpaceman's topic in General Discussion
That's definitely true, orlok. I wonder how much of an influence this style of game development will have on the game industry as a whole, though. Certainly some of the more plot-driven games will always be developed in private production so no one knows the big "twist" (for example, Bioshock Infinite which I loved very much), but as far as a game that is built around the multiplayer experience, this method is the best I've ever seen. Even just little things like interaction from staff members and administrators on the forum go a long way in building my trust for your team and I'm sure others feel the same way. Basically it's like getting the small town store experience, where you feel welcome and appreciated, but in the environment of some world class employees. I didn't mean to bash DICE as hard as I did but for comparison's sake, well, I'll stand by it! -
I think the point the TC is trying to make is that there is clearly an option in the configuration that is intended to be for disabling/enabling mouse acceleration. I have been playing PC games for something like 15 years and I absolutely hate mouse acceleration. Obviously DayZ is not Counter Strike. Thanks for point out the obvious. But DayZ is not the all-consuming game of everyone's life. For me, personally, it is a little jarring to go from another game to DayZ because of the acceleration being forced on. I'm eager to see this option actually implemented as well, but it's not exactly game-breaking. You guys need to chill out with the "OMG mouse acceleration is fine stfu!" garbage. Just because you're content with it doesn't mean everyone else is. Jeez. The TC is expressing his opinion. I happen to share it. If you don't, good for you. Gold star.
