<<<< Grass density needs to be improved. >>>>

How very rebellious of you. /facepalm Probably because of your inability to make the correct assumptions based on the subject that you are discussing. It's like asking people to follow your logic when it isn't logical.

If you're going to quote me and tell me I have no clue. Then please have the courtesy to properly explain why, otherwise it just makes you seem like an even bigger fool.

<<<< Grass density needs to be improved. >>>>

I think you make the incorrect assumption that the M4 should be similar to the Mosin. Let's not forget that the M4 is a close to medium range weapon, compared to the long to very long range of the mosin. As well as one gun being semi-automatic and the other fully automatic. The point is that even with how grass works right now, they both have their intended purpose and it's not really that big of a problem. P.S. if you use <<<< >>>> to mark your post, you just makes it seem like you crave for attention.

    Do you HOP or STICK?

You know what's also annoying about people that don't server hop. They clear out litterally every useful spawn on the map. Due to the way respawning works now, many servers end up being complete ghost towns in terms of loot. Now I know you might be thinking, don't stick to the coast. Well I've tried that, only to find that as I went further to either the north or the west, I still saw everything was already looted. The server regulars are completely kitted out with the best gear out there and would survive far longer than any newbie would until the server restarts. I don't think I'll take responsibility until that has been fixed.

One of the bravest people I've met.

Chances are that he would have tried to kill you shortly after. The bandit was distracted by you, he took his chance and gambled that it would be worth his time to try and gain that gear. Now, he eventually still died so it didn't really pay off. But it's hard to say if it's a hero's death, or just somebody who wanted increase their chances of survival by taking a large risk.

    The "pain" sounds

I don't really mind the pain sounds, but the frequency that the character keeps repeating these phrases is mildly annoying. Not only does it betray your position to players, but I wouldn't want to crawl across a highly infested area only to shout "FKK THAT HURTS" and letting all the zombies chew on my wounded body(even if zombies don't respond to that sound right now).

    Character resets

Lately my character does get reset pretty often due to "Unable to load character, your character has been reset. A system administrator has been notified". My question is, why does the server automate this process instead of letting the player choose if he wants the server to reset his character. A simple "Character was not found. Do you want to create a new character? Warning: Creating a new character will wipe all saved progress!" message with a yes/no choice would be plenty.

    Character resets

Because of two reasons I can tell it's not for testing purposes: 1. Any wipe for development purposes will probably be announced as a part of updating the game. 2. It would happen to everybody at roughly the same time, not just me. It seems that you are quick to put me into the category "Didn't read or comprehend the warnings", yet that isn't my point to begin with. I am pretty accepting of the fact that this is an alpha and that it has it's issues. Heck I play the game a lot and I come across these issues every day that I have no problems with. I don't even have any issues with the fact that this does happen at this point in time. But instead of people sticking to the subject, they'd rather give me some run off the mill answer that isn't even worth discussing or learning anything from.

    Character resets

I'd respectfully disagree with that, in order for players to provide feedback they must have access to all available parts of the game. Let's say you want to test late-game features, but due to instability players never reach that point or stay alive long enough to try out the content. It would eventually mean that early-game features get tested far better than lategame features do. I am very aware of what an alpha is and I don't have any problems with having my progress wiped for the sake of development. Having my progress wiped for nothing however is just frustrating and doesn't work towards me giving better feedback about the game. So let's see if I understand what's happening here. The server you play on sends information about your location and gear to the hive where it can be fetched by any other server you play on. Sometimes the synchronisation between the game server and the hive doesn't work properly. What I do know however is that returning to the last server you've played on often allows you to recover your character if it hasn't been reset by joining another server. It then apparantly manages to resychronise properly and your character is once again safe from deletion. So if the reset doesn't happen automatically, you can atleast attempt to recover your character. I used to think these issues were common on private servers, but lately I've been joining only official servers and these share the same issues.

    Suggestion: Sleeping When Logged Out

It's a really bad idea. Even upto the point where I'd hate the game if this was ever implemented. The point being that it's a game, and taking away control from the player is the absolute worst thing you can do. There isn't anything the player can do to protect himself during the time he is sleeping and there isn't any justification for putting such a burden on the player to begin with. Making survival a diceroll is against the idea of survival to begin with, the point of survival is making choices that extend your life expectancy. It's basically the same as logging into a server only to see your character being reset. It causes frustration upto the point where you don't feel like playing it any longer, because you know you died a very unsatisfactory death. When I get killed by another player I think "Oh snap he got me, I must not have been playing careful enough, so I misjudged the situation" When I get killed by bugs, glitches, or resets(or in this case while sleeping) it's more like "I've spent hours collecting things, and now it's gone, and for what? Nothing... I won't play the game for the rest of the day"

    Character resets

Let's just say that I've got a bit of experience, but let's leave it at that. It doesn't really matter. I can think of plenty of things that I could ask that would take a lot of time to complete. This however isn't one of them.

    Character resets

Optimization is not a feature, it's a work in progress. You don't finish optimization before you introduce new features. New features are likely to destabilize the build anyways, so it doesn't make any sense to talk about priorities when they are clearly seperate subjects. Stability on the other hand is a very broad subject, character synchronisation within any given hive is one of the core features of this game and pretty tied into what you call stability. It doesn't really matter if you crash or if your character gets wiped, gameplay is interrupted and that's severe enough to require attention.

More pressing issues? Such as? I'd say that any issues that completely wipe all the progress you make are pretty pressing. And let's be honest here, the amount of new code would be quite insubstancial. Message prompts are already in the game, and are very easily made. The function behind the prompt, such as the results of pressing yes or no are slightly more time consuming. But again, it's simply introducing a choice to a feature that is already in the game. So I honestly don't believe that it will cost "a lot of time".

    How to Blood Bag myself

I think it's one of those things where it's encouraging people to actually team up.
  15. Well then, how exactly would you do it while maintaining good performance?

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

You're making assumptions here that I won't even bother to answer, as they are far removed from how I really think about it. Simply said I think the proposed fix is unintuitive, there's no visual indicator to show you what the character sees and doesn't see. And even though it increases the fairness of people having to expose themselves, it also steers away from giving the player the visual feedback that is needed to effectively navigate the surroundings safely. To be honest when I think of it, any solution thus far has been closer to a compromise rather than an actual solution. You try to fix the issue, but introduce new ones instead. Perhaps if there was some kind of visual indicator to show you what the character sees, then I could support a feature like this. But until then, no thank you.

    Good ol' running up hills

You can still zigzag to maintain speed on semi-steep hills. The problem here isn't so much the slowdown of you going up the hill. It's just that the animations don't bring an immersive experience when doing so. In real life, if you try to climb a steep hill, you aren't just walking. You're constantly rebalancing yourself, taking big and firm steps to get up. Your body leans forward to prevent falling backwards, if it has been raining you will most likely slip a couple of times. You even use your hands to further gain balance where you may not have it. If you carry a lot you're going to use up energy much more quickly than you normally would even when running. And since we are talking about survivors here, and not trained military people. It is very unlikely that you would be able to keep going on without getting heavily fatigued after a while.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

Please don't speak for other people. It's not because we are used to an "exploit". It's not an exploit to begin with, it's simply an unwanted feature.
  19. The question is, what were you guys doing in elektro, knowing that there's a person out to get you? Until it's fixed combat logging is annoying but nothing that a bit of unpredictability can't fix.
  20. Ghillie suits should be treasure, not like the mod where each player with a long lifetime had them.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

I think the major problem with first person in ARMA 2/3 is that it's extremely clumsy, you easily get disoriented while this would never happen in real life due to the field of view that you have in real life. You can increase the field of view, but this barely if ever scales well with object size. Objects look warped, and the render cost to render a higher field of view is also substancial. I don't want third person, but I feel very caged in when I can't use it. In ARMA 3 this is annoying, but atleast the freedom of leaning exactly how you want it is great. But in DayZ this is just doesn't work very well due to the negative mouse acceleration. Which makes it absolutely horrid to navigate in close quarters. I honestly would like it they focus less on adding confusing mechanisms to prevent third person cheating, but rather on making first person not a total pain to use. Because then you can just disable 3rd person like many servers already do.

    Discourage career bandits

This game isn't Call of Duty, being a bandit should be one playstyle. It shouldn't however totally dominate over the survivor playstyle. Both playstyles need to be there, and ideally there should be as many advantages for going bandit, as there is to not go bandit. But currently going bandit is the only viable playstyle. So yes, something to discourage going for just one playstyle should definitely be discouraged.

Suggestion - Make the Ocean Useful

I just generally hope that if you have the cooking pot, and the means of a fire. You could for example use a plastic bag to catch the steam from salty water, so you then have a small supply of fresh water.

    [SUGGESTION] Reduce Fall Damage

Impossible, the game at this point doesn't give me enough control and stability to prevent that from happening. Let's see how I've been killed so far. #1 At NWAF I climb on a ladder, I instantly teleport to the ground, teleport back onto the ladder, I die. There was no case of jumping, or walking in the wrong direction, I just tried to snap onto a ladder. #2 At Balota I enter a random building for loot, seeing as I spawned there. I take the stairs to the first floor, I fall through the floor and I die. #3 At Zelenogorsk I enter a random building, go to the first floor. Totally out of control I slide through the wall, falling to my death on the street infront of the house #4 At Devil's castle, I carefully walk upto one of the wooden stairs and I see that it's probably too risky to go any further so I turn around, little did I know that sliding off a plateau through the railing falling a mere 5 feet would kill me. Even though I carefully tried to avoid risky areas. #5 At Novy Sobor I log off inside a building on the first floor, I login I immediately fall through the floor and die. #6 I even walked off the backside of one of the markets, less than 3 feet and I still die. I can go on and on and on. It's not accidents, it's the game just randomly deciding that you can move through solid matter.

    [SUGGESTION] Reduce Fall Damage

As far as I'm concerned they should completely get rid of fall damage until they fix the glitching through walls, floors, stairs and any other type of elevation. It is rediculous to slide through the wall of a building to fall down and die instantly. It's my number 1 reason of death, and it's by far a bigger cause of death than anything else you might imagine(it just happened to me 5 minutes ago). It's ironic that most of the loot is located in elevated locations, such as multistory buildings. So there's no avoiding it either. A temporary placeholder for death by fall damage would simply be a movement penalty for 2 minutes.
