Items you have still yet to see in the game.
Ghostflux replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Pistol Silencer.(where is it?) Pistol RDS(where is it?) Pristine Acog scope(bad luck) Berries(not even sure if they are already in the stable) Improvised Backpack(never needed it) -
Anything that's green is fine with me. As much as I'd like to be fashionable, my life is simply worth more.

DayZ could of course be developed on the Cryengine. However, DayZ as you know it would be drastically different from what the game would look like on Cryengine 3. Just getting their hands on the engine would mean that they would need new licenses, training the staff to be able to use the engine, or having to hire new employees entirely. It would be an entirely different way of developing and would likely require a far higher budget to work with. Taking on a new engine would also mean that there's advantages and disadvantages to be found, perhaps the graphical fidelity would increase at the cost of certain gameplay elements. It would also mean that Bohemia Interactive would no longer be able to assist Dean in making the game. Unless the company itself decides to work with the engine. So practically speaking, it wouldn't do the game any good.

That is easily solved by only allowing NVG to spawn during night time(and perhaps disappearing again during day). In order to encourage night time play, we need incentives specifically catered to that time of day. Of course they need to implement some kind of persistent daytime system to facilitate servers that like to restart before it can become night time. As far as I know, regular servers will be able to set irregular daytime cycles where the night is drastically shorter than day. Where as hardcore servers will remain using the normal 24 hour cycle. If everyone is equiped with them, then it is obvious they were too easy to find in the mod. Something that can be easily changed, especially considering the way the standalone is going to work versus the mod in terms of a globalized loot system. Let's not forget that this is a new game now, and is going to branch off quite a bit from the mod in the future.

In my opinion night vision is required, simply to encourage people to play on night time servers as well. Of course it should be extremely rare. Because it's such a big advantage, it would encourage people to gang up on that person.

Cars are nice, but tanks? Yes plox
Ghostflux replied to Samuri_Bake_Pie's topic in General Discussion
I don't mind if there are some items that are "overpowered" as long as they are extremely rare. Not something you can find on every server, not something that always spawns in the same spots. But a tank probably takes a lot of time to design, which may not be worth it if it's supposed to be very rare. -
This logout system seriously needs to be deleted

Complaining and demanding a better fix without even proposing your own idea? I'm genuinely curious to see if OP can come up with something better. -
Morphine still spawning post patch?
Ghostflux replied to AryanBoogeyman's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure I've found some morphine right after the patch. And yes, I found it in the hospital of elektro. -
Would you rather have more Zombies or gradually increase player count?
Ghostflux replied to Miquinei's topic in General Discussion
I take it you play on high population servers? Let's be honest here, the game is still an alpha. There are still many features missing that would motivate people to go north and spread out more. Yet if you want to interact with people, there are a few obvious high traffic areas. If you purposefully exclude yourself from those, then I am not surprised that the amount of encounters have been quite low. What's keeping you from going back to the coast? Even on low population servers, I see atleast a dozen of players each week if not many more. Yet with 100 players, not only would you encounter way too many players in any given area to be immersive, but it would also mean zombies will be much less of a threat as the server will not be able to spawn as many with that many players on. -
More Effective, Less Frustrating, Hopper/Logger Solution
Ghostflux replied to Solopopo's topic in General Discussion
I would suggest that you make it a habit of joining official servers near your country rather than clan servers that may be incorrectly configured, or badly managed. -
Would you rather have more Zombies or gradually increase player count?
Ghostflux replied to Miquinei's topic in General Discussion
The whole idea behind survival is that finding other humans is a rare occurance. 40 player servers already make it easy to encounter other players. Yet we currently are seeing a shortage of zombies, while it's one of the major selling points of the game. So definitely zombies. -
Messing around on experimental, 1PP vs 3PP :D
Ghostflux replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Is it possible to change your 1PP field of view, while keeping third person the same? I play on both Regular and Hardcore servers by the way. Are you honestly implying that I use 3PP as a crutch and I can't live without? What evidence do you have to make such a bold statement? Yes I have, I turned off head bob and motion blur, because those two both made it even worse. -

Ghostflux replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Let me ask you a question: In first person, do you think that what you are seeing in the screenshot even vaguely represents what you're seeing in real life? While the third person screenshot clearly shows that you see much more, the contrast is only so incredibly obvious because the field of view in first person is so incredibly low. Even to the point where I'd get motion sickness. This is a problem I do not have in other games by the way, it only happens in DayZ/ARMA. So could you explain why it is that first person is so uncomfortable? -
More Effective, Less Frustrating, Hopper/Logger Solution
Ghostflux replied to Solopopo's topic in General Discussion
Seriously, the people in this thread overcomplicate things. Instead of attacking the idea an individual represents, they question the moral reasoning of the individual to determine if he can even be considered credible. Yet the way he is questioned just begs for inconsistencies that he will then get judged upon. Of course the amount of insults thrown at eachother have already ruined any chance of constructive discussion. The simple method of resolving this would have been to simply discard the idea, rather than the credibility of the person. You'd need only 1 page instead of 4. -
Is it better to travel with your gun in your hands or on your back?
Ghostflux replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Generally speaking, it is always wise to have atleast one guy in your group keep his weapon out at all times. If you get ambushed, the last thing you want to do is fiddle with your weapon when you could potentially be lagged. Having just one guy immediately providing suppressive fire can often save the lives of your mates. Though the most important rule of survival is making sure you see the enemy before he sees you. -

You know what I don't get about this whole idea? How do you differentiate the methods used to close the game? I mean, you could very easily simulate a crash, which means that you'd be getting free invulnerability upon log out. The idea has been proposed before, and it was shot down because of technical issues I think. -
What exactly is the point of seeing one guy hack and automatically presuming that the apocalypse is about to happen? I've seen games being swallowed up by hackers litterally, this game isn't one of them.

Machetes suck right now because they are basically fists with a machete glued to them
Ghostflux replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
I tried counting the hits it would take to kill a zombie with a machete without going for headshots. I ended up with over 10 confirmed hits, yet the zombie didn't die. I threw the machete away instantly, useless piece of garbage right now. -
The problem with the current system is that there's a group of people who are overloaded with loot versus people who can't find anything at all. Scarcity isn't the point, it's loot distribution between players. The ideal situation would be a rare number of fully geared "veterans", where it is now mostly the opposite, with most players being fully geared. It makes it increasingly hard for a new player to survive.

Firefighter's axe in a backpack, but not an M4?
Ghostflux replied to subliminal_city's topic in General Discussion
How exactly would this be a problem once you put the safety on? Or perhaps you could simply take out the magazine and chambered round. -
How do you shoot the SKS? 1 round ? 2 bursts? 3 bursts?
Ghostflux replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
There's no point to do any of those three methods exclusively. It all depends on the engagement distance. -
Now why would you play on PvE servers to begin with? I can imagine you would do such a thing when this game is fully released. But with the amount of content we have right now, it's almost a shame not to dive into combat sometimes. Now I'm not saying anyone should kill on sight. But I wouldn't be able to interact with people if they could just run away without any danger. Simply because of the fact that I can display my weapon is enough for them to stop and communicate.

5 min cooldown for switching servers is way to little
Ghostflux replied to smoq2's topic in General Discussion
By the time you're done looting any high risk locations, you'll probably already have spent 5 minutes ingame. It wouldn't do much. Basically the whole idea of "let's just modify the timer" has to go, there's way too little out of the box thinking here. As far as I can see, having solutions integrate with gameplay is always a better idea than bluntly forcing anyone to do anything that they will definitely not like. -
Not really. Loot farming is simply the result of an incomplete system. It's the result of knowing where loot spawns, and in what pattern or when it spawns. If it's random enough you wouldn't be any quicker by farming as you would by simply searching around like everyone else does. 10 minutes is only a number, it could very well be randomized.

If you would like a decent discussion, you can skip the whole "is that all you can come up with". Especially considering the fact that I never defended third person to begin with. I have no problem with playing first person, I do so in many games. But mostly due to the fact that the mouse movement is highly inconsistent it is an utter pain to navigate in first person. Even picking up items isn't even worth my time going first person for unless they are very well hidden, otherwise I can just press tab and drag it in my inventory.
