    Netting and ghillie crafting

It's not that tough. It's actually just a mild "update". Turn beta on, it updates to latest experimental, turn beta off, it reverts to latest version.

    Vehicles

It will be the toppest of keks.
  3. Here's why basically everything you've had to say is a moot point and of about as much value as the posts asking for "at least a gun and some ammo" at spawn. First, $30M. They made quite a bit less than that dude. The game was on Steam. Go research Valve's cut of profits. You still don't seem to comprehend that Bohemia is an existing entity. All their eggs are not in one DayZ basket. They have investors, they have a portfolio, they're a profitable company that paid the development team of DayZ (granted, a smaller one) for a year and a half before seeing a penny from the work. This isn't some indie project with a bunch of fresh-out-of-art-school first timers. It's also not the kind of company that can or would disappear in a night, with executives uhm.. sleeping on peoples' floors? Really? That's some shit right there. The fact that your perspective overrules all these facts in how you're having this conversation makes just about everything you have to say have little to no value. PS - this thread made me run out of Beans.
  4. Changed it up. It was late enough that I couldn't be assed to change it to something better once i realized how bad it is. If it wasn't so difficult in these forums to begin/end quotes out of a block of quotes i'd have replied point by point, but I simply don't have the patience for that *and* ranting at strangers on the internet.

Is weight going to play a factor ever?

    Taloon. It's a Taloon backpack.
  6. I'd like to take your post point by point. My replies will be bold and peach. TL;DR it's clear you have no idea who Bohemia is, who Rocket is or how DayZ came about. I also hiiiiiighly doubt you're a developer - at best you're a highly inexperienced developer. In another post you said: Think of Dean as a film director (and I use this because I'm very familiar with it). He has gone from directing a short where he had to take on so many jobs to directing a big budget film. He doesn't have to be superman anymore (though he could still be) but rather his main job is to direct the rest of his collaborators towards his vision in a clear fashion using the money that they have. You're just ceaselessly showing that you have no clue about anything about the topic of which you speak. It's not like suddenly Rocket went from being a guy coding on an EA floor somewhere and suddenly he inherited $100M. The guy has been with the developer he is at doing what he has been doing for a considerable amount of time. Sure, he probably has more people to oversee and it's got to be weird to have a team of managers reporting to him, but he's still doing what he's been doing for a long time, and with a project that is basically all his. I honestly don't know why I got so invested in this thread. I just get worked up when someone is so full of nonsense and wrong on my precious interwebs.
  7. Actually it gives you "magnum rounds" - a 6 stack of magnum bullets in one square of inventory. Reload those, eject and they'll be 5 again.

    Loot-able Objects like the Fridge

Good thing you're at the helm of a massive development effort by some of the best pros in milsim ever. Good job on that 1M sales in 40 days of Alpha. Thanks for all you do Rocket HEY! YOU'RE NOT ROCKET! Seriously though, first and foremost "hire more programmers" doesn't matter. Adding even a couple more programmers, as I'm sure has already been done, won't have an immediate impact on the game's development speed. Those new programmers require time to learn what the team is about, become immersed in the vision, become familiar with the tools used and the general theme of things. Then they get to 'practice' develop and build for a couple months, then finally when they're turning out work that matches the devs who have been working on this project for years, then they will begin to have a net positive impact on the development speed. In re: your "pre alpha is..." .. nonsense. Fucking anything before release is what it is, in the order the people footing the bill and who do this professionally with much experience determine. Anything else is nonsense and probably wrong.
  10. evil_this

    Loads of IMPORTANT suggestions.

The idea that while playing an Alpha game that you were beseeched not to purchase at least 3 times before you could purchase it, your top recommendation is "schedule and announce all updates with accurate ETAs".

    Farming your own blood.

The thing that seems to be most confusing to people is that there are so many effects beyond hunger, thirst, blood, pain, broken legs that the mod had. Merino DayZ youtube channel's videos are fantastic (one is posted 3 above by VincentNZ). Here's a brief synopsis of some of the effects your DayZ body has: Stomach contents - "I feel full" Energy level - aka hunger "I'm hungry" Thirst - "I'm thirsty" Blood - filled by blood bags or saline bags Health - "Healthy" The opposite of sick status, which includes/will include: food poisoning, illness from bad water, infections from wounds, exposure to the elements Healing status - natural healing when you have a significant amount of energy (from food)/drink. Broken legs - Can't walk Shock - Can cause blurring of vision, unconsciousness, shaking Pain - Pain noises can give you away, shaking, can lead to shock -- Obviously many of these things are not yet implemented, but that's quite a bit more than the basics that the mod had.

    Dayz gone because of scammer

Steam support has always been awesome - but especially so in the past 6-9 months. Totally stepped up their game.

    Farming your own blood.

Energy is not health. Energy is food.

    Why aren't PvE servers allowed?

The devs are restrictng PvE because they don't want that in their game. Pretty cut and dry. A primary challenge of the game is other survivors. Trying to enforce PvE only on a rented server on a public hive is quite a bit like being a script kiddie.

I just don't find item decay fun...

TL:DR Miffy has no comprehension of what Alpha means, move along.

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113953

Try verifying your files in Steam. The no loot/zombies is a local issue, not an update issue. Building a game from the ground up is not something that gets resolved by throwing a ton of money at it after a few weeks. Even if they just hired an army of programmers, designers, sound engineers, etc. it takes time to bring the talented artists up to speed on the overall vision. Those new guys will *fuck shit up* for weeks on end before they produce 10 cents worth of valuable work. It's just the nature of development and production. ITS AN ALPHA is the answer. It's not the answer you want, or because you don't comprehend why it's the answer doesn't matter. When your mom was 15 minutes into cooking an hour dinner, and 4 year old you said "Mommy I'm hungry", no matter how much you told her it wasn't fair you had to wait, there was nothing to be done but sit down and wait. No amount of crying made that 45 min of required cooking time go faster.
  18. This is exactly demonstrating *why* 3PP is valuable and reasonable. There is nothing in that situation stopping a person from grabbing the lip of that chimney and peering up and viewing over it - except limitations of mechanics and programming currently. The entire reason that 3PP is so valuable is that it compensates for programming and mechanics limitations to make the experience more realistic. Can any of the 1PP only constituency argue that it is somehow more realistic that a man in a brick chimney a foot shorter than him and just about 2/3 his height wide cannot somehow finagle a way to climb up in that chimney and peer out at the surroundings around him with minimal exposure? Yes, I do indeed understand that it's actually zero exposure right now, and that's not a perfect solution nor is that very realistic. However, it's a trade off. AND there's now 1PS only experimental servers you can go enjoy so that no one gets this compensation if you prefer the less realistic compensation. It's remarkable to me that we can see that same image and draw such different reasoning from it.
  19. http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1kzy02/sa_gamescom_gameplay_with_rocket_gamestar_10min/cbuomj7?context=3 In this reddit thread, Dean Rocket Hall, the developer of this game, says that the thinks there are a wide variety of legitimate and important uses of 3rd person perspective. It clearly needs improvement, but to say that it's an exploit is ridiculous. It's no more of an exploit than changing video settings, turning off headbob.
  20. And why do you think that is, Dallas?
  21. Yeah so my arguments are bullshit, sounds good to me. You are surely entitled to your opinion. The hilarious thing is how you repeat over and over about how the 1PP servers SIMPLY DIDN'T WORK. Then you hilarious end with the statement that clearly indicates you do not understand the situation. Let me break it down for you based on your own argument: 1) 3PP is in the game because the dev team chose to leave it in the game.2) You want to remove 3PP and force 1PP, and so refuse to play the game as intended3) You should find a different game to play. (Alternatively, play the game how you like and shut it.) Rust is a terrible early access game. THAT is what an alpha generally looks like - lots of not awesome, boring, bad mechanics from the get go, immediately reduced playerbase. Granted DayZ did have the ARMA engines to build off of and all the success of the mod to learn what worked and what didn't. But seriously, that's a horrible game that likely will never leave early access. Really? So a small percentage of the game's community needs gravity and through a desire to enforce what they (clearly wrongly) view as the only right and proper way to play the game should be listened to... because they want to really hard! How about you simply accept that the majority of people prefer 3PP as this is an environmental simulator and decided not an FPS. Rocket's also running a business. No one wants to be stuck in 1PP for running through the wilderness simulator. It's not nearly as nice to look at, and it's not as fun. What i find hilarious by all the 1PPers with this "Here this will fix 3PP, you can only look at the front of your character" argument is this: Every game which screen shot they used plays enormously more enjoyably when you're in 3PP behind and above your character. PS - those games are also not PVP games. The camera angle action in those PVE style games is so that the massive studios can show off their immense spending on art - not to balance a game in some way. ---- I will absolutely agree that 3PP needs work. I'm not advocating that it's perfect. However the removal of it would reduce enjoyment for me to the point where I'd stop playing in a minute. There's nothing fun about 1PP for me, except in combat scenarios.
  22. The last patch was December 19. That was 9 days ago. Xmas was 3 days ago. Another patch is due out next week. You're not good at calendars, are you?

    Maps

For the first part, as a workaround I use either the iZurvive app on my tablet or a map open on my second monitor. In regards the second point, the sun... Well we are pretty far north latitude.

    Infected Diet

Per patch notes it's fixed, but I don't believe this is the case. Yesterday from far away I watched a player killed by zed and they did not lean down and feast upon that player.
  25. The things that strike me most in this ongoing, endless argument are this: 1) Have you ever played /r/outside? Seriously. Go out into the woods. Go run around, hide behind trees, lay on the ground, look over hills and rocks. Go walk through a neighborhood at night and run around trees and backyards. Do this for a few hours then come home and play DayZ or Arma3 with 1PP only. You'll find, I am sure, that the game, while they try hard, does not allow for anything like a realistic interaction with the world in FPS. Movement is clumsy, you have virtually zero spatial awareness to the objects around you. Third person view much more *accurately* compensates for senses other than vision (and hearing but we know audio is basically 1% accurate in standalone at this point). 2) For everyone who wants the game to be locked down to 1PP only, you're not playing the experimental mercenary servers, are you? You know how I know? They're basically empty. 3) You cry "realism". Do you really think it's realistic that you cannot stand on tip toes to peer over a wall, or peek and look 160-180 degrees behind you around a wall? Do you think it's realistic that you cannot walk through a building without bumping every table and wall because your field of view (even at maximum) extends about 3 inches down and up in front of you and about 11 inches to either side? When you pop 3PP to peek over a wall, it's compensation for not being able to get on tip toes and look over that wall - which you could do in real life, if we had an intelligent and accurate way to simulate it in 1PP, then it wouldn't matter. 4) Why do you recommend turning off head bob for a more comfortable 1PP? Isn't that *exactly the same amount of cheating* as 3PP? If anything the rallying cry should be lock max headbob, lock max blur, lock minimum FOV, lock all graphics settings the same (a much more relevant 'cheat' than 3PP), etc. 3PP is so much less of a worry than just basic graphics settings, so why is this the target of rage? 5) My next point answers that last question. Many of the 1PP or die types are those who *excel at playing 1PP*. So what they want is not for "those cheating @#$&ers who can peek around corners" to not be able to "have that advantage", what they want is for anyone who has more experience with COD than expansive environmental simulators to "have that advantage". Otherwise, they'd demand 1PP only servers and STFU about it. You know why they don't? They don't want to have only 2% of the game's population to play with. This is really, really demonstrable in this thread. A large number of the 1PP only brigade here make comments like "Make 3rd person only on noob servers" or the one recommendation that insinuated that if 3PP is enabled, then new spawns should start fully looted. If it was a care for the mechanics, it wouldn't come with insult. It comes with insult because it helps them feel that the players who aren't COD:MW "veterans" with xbox achievements in 10 different FPSs across their favored franchise are less than human/worse than them/worth so little they can openly belittle them in such a manner. -- 3PP is for so much more than 'peeking around corners' and if you're any good you won't be static enough or without good cover and knowing your own surroundings for it to matter. If COD-style play is all you know, maybe you should learn how to interact in a true environmental simulation - learn to embrace 3PP for what it's there for - a compensation tool - and stop worrying so much if someone's "peeking around a corner". Learn situational awareness and don't put yourself in cover situations where someone peeking around a corner is the end of your ability to enjoy the game. If someone else's desired playstyle ruins yours so much, maybe - just maybe - you're playing the wrong game. Find one with mechanics that suit your playstyle. I for one know that if the game *were* to be locked wholly to FPP only, that's exactly what I'd do. ---- This is one of the best examples - from one page of comments before this comment. If you don't like 3PP, perhaps DayZ is not for you - since 3PP is included in not only the MOD built by Rocket but also in the Standalone. That was clearly a choice made. DayZ is not a FPS. It's an environmental simulator. If the above arguments are the ones you're using, there's something significantly broken with your comprehension of the situation. Also from the page before this one. This person has been vehement about removing 3PP, yet does not comprehend their own argument that DayZ MOD forced 1PP servers did not succeed and basically do not exist (making up what.. 0.5% of all the MOD servers out there? if that?) because no one wants to play them. If everyone who ranted so hard about 1PP only went to 1PP only servers, they would not be uninhabited and unavailable in MOD, uninhabited in SA experimental. This idea is spread from a vocal minority entirely unwilling to do what they demand. This is almost a valid argument. The funny thing is, you can look through walls just as easily in 1PP by running directly at them. This is not a matter of the 3PP being broken, or 1PP at that. The problem here is that buildings were built without their walls being objects and there is currently no "good" solution implemented to reduce server strain and still have every wall in the game be a clipped, solid object. Worthless 'reasoning' here. this .....but taking a weapon should instantly force you into first person. SausageKingofChicago was quoting something rocket said about how they may implement 3PP v 1PP. I think that this solution is relatively good (other than forced 1PP when holding a weapon). If I hold a rifle... I should only ever be able to look around approximately 45 degrees to either side, or I have to turn my whole body along with the rifle? Have you ever held a weapon, in the wilderness, looking around you with everything you've got, listening and trying to absorb the environment around you? You get fantastic spatial awareness in those situations and can hear a wood louse roll itself up from 5 feet away while seeing every leap wiggle in the breeze. You're definitely not stuck basically looking forward in a 3 inches up/3 inches down/11 inches left/11 inches right box. You can test this. Go get a weapon - melee is probably what you have around you, or use a firearm if you have one - and go outside. Have that weapon readied facing north. Now see what's south of you. Now look northeast. Now look 60 degrees upward and southwest. Run through that again bringing your weapon to bear on all those locations you looked at. OK? Done? Come in and try that same move in 1PP on DayZ. Then do it 3PP (of course ending with RMB to get down the site/bring the weapon up). Tell me which one *felt* more realistic and smooth. The results may surprise you.
