Happened to me yesterday. I eventually got out by just moving my mouse around as soon as I got off the ladder. Took about 12-15 attempts.

Experimental Branch: 0.49 Discussion
stolenbanjos replied to haknslash's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Just came to say I love the weather/body temp effects. After about 3 hours on an exp server today, I'd say it adds a big layer of realism to the game. More two-way radios spawn points? I found two in civ houses, one in Dubrovka and one in Polana. -
Neck Slot for Rope+[items] to be worn around neck, Ear/Teeth trophies
stolenbanjos posted a topic in Suggestions
Inspired by a post from kerayz on reddit. His idea was using pliers to pull teeth or knives to remove ears and keep as trophies from kills/muggings in a burlap sack. This evolved into wearing them on a necklace. This made me think of Toadvine from Blood Meridian and his ear necklace, Kerayz mentioned Daryl Dixon from Walking Dead. Then it hit me. How about adding a neck slot to our character so that we can add items like compass, binocs, etc... + rope and wear them around our necks. It would definitely have a realistic feel as many hikers/outdoorsmen/hunters wear things around their neck irl for easy access. Of course don't forget to let us do some apocalypse dental/facial surgery work with those pliers and knives as well so we can wear our trophies from other survivors and zombies. Credit also to some folks that have mentioned this in other threads on this forum, there was no direct suggestion thread about it, so here goes. -
At least two buildings and a well on the road south of Novy, good central location for a camp that is still close to town.

What items that currently spawn are considered "Rare loot" atm
stolenbanjos replied to TheLast-StaR's topic in General Discussion
200+ hours and I've found only 2 anti-stab vests (police car in Dolina and police station in Kamyshovo). Crazy thing is I found them yesterday and today! One trip through Balota or NWAF and you'll likely see a LRS. Tents are loaded now. I'm having a hard time finding enough bolts to keep the crossbow viable as a primary. Sometimes you find the loot and sometimes the loot finds you. -
Don't know if I am perseverant or just dumb

Well played +beans -
I took out some yellow and added some blue and white. I think a red baseball cap or boonie hat will round it out nicely.

Nice info. Maybe you could clarify something for me: I have found many loose bolts (no quiver) and they were not stackable on my hardcore or regular character. "When bolts are found on their own they need to be "emptied" by right clicking the bolt, I usually gain 5 bolts from this but on occasions I have received a single bolt instead." Are you saying you must right click the loose bolt, separate however may be in the stack, and restack them to get 5 bolts in a 1x1 inventory slot? -
My new 'Murican Medic loadout, still a work in progress.

Great vid, new sub here!

I like the idea of manuals, but I like the idea of learning through trial and error better. We can currently do that in game without adding new "must have" loot. Some are better at firefights because they have in game experience, it's real skill. In game experience > read a book and gain a skill For example, If someone simply read a book on how to fly helicopters, would you trust their skills as a first time pilot? I wouldn't. I'd trust the guy that has tried everything through trial and error.

When does your "switch" flip during an encounter?
stolenbanjos replied to Wiggin Miller's topic in General Discussion
I always distrust people that have "a plan" I should go along with. And like the OP said, people that are pushy and in a hurry are likely setting a trap, or just generally nervous. Whether they are friendly or not, I don't like being around nervouse players in this game. They will get you killed even if they are truly trustworthy/friendly. -
I love the awkward pause when you walked in lol

It just occured to me: We are all playing HUNGER GAMES!
stolenbanjos replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
***David Attenborough voice*** Dayz is an intense high speed example of survival of the fittest. There is no ultimate champion, no ultimate glory. To the victor's go only the fleeting chance to stay on Chernarus and climb the food chain for another day. You do what you must, until the screen goes..(pause)..black. In this analogy, DayZ would simply be life and Dean is simply Mother Nature and mankind's inventions. Now go forth and die! -
Neutral safe zones that physically prevent combat
stolenbanjos replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
Once we can store loot and/or can build and barricade defintely this^. The game is already designed for it, no need for safe zones. Get some folks, take over a town in a server, declare it safe, protect it, trade you goods, win. -
Just had a sour death. This game can make you feel really bad sometimes!
stolenbanjos replied to Hagon94's topic in General Discussion
Right, and what's nice is that they aren't exclusive ideas and can live together in the same game. I've heard Dean mention on one of his streams or Sacriel's stream that they are looking to fix some stuff like that down the road. I think they will smooth out some of the controls and movement while maintaining the philosphy of "critical thinking>wasd skills." The wasd skilled players can have some advantage in game, while not dominating the game if they are making poor decisions, etc... -

stolenbanjos replied to Hagon94's topic in General Discussion
I looked for the post, but couldn't find it. Some guy said it very well, I can't quote but I can paraphrase. Basically he made a great point that some "clunkiness" in the controls is what makes this game different and exciting. We don't want people to be able to "master" the weapon controls, that way decision making, communication and movement become more powerful skills to try and master. Some people will be better shots than others because they have good wasd skills and lots of playtime, but If we stay on a relatively even playing field with weapon controls, most players will need to be good at other things to find advantages over other players. -
Oh the zombies and their ignorant bliss. They get to live in a world without moral idenities, health concerns, or the burdens of loot. They've got it made.

A new idea to stop the "kill-on-sight" mentality
stolenbanjos replied to Beetlejuice (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Stopping KoS is like stopping racism. As ignorant as it may seem, it may take another thousand years to get rid of it.
