If you aren't in sight - you won't get killed on sight. Leave the oneshots!

Tired of running in Dayz, here is the solution
stolenbanjos replied to weedmasta's topic in General Discussion
That's definitely the most dangerous so far! Almost equal in ghettoness to the clamps/l wrench, but not quite. -
make sure your game updated within steam, looks like you did not receive update to me edit: spelling correction

Also noticed that server browser does not reflect the new changes from last patch (server time, version, hive, etc..) not sure how to help you, but after reinstalling the game and running the stable version, your server browser should look a lot different than the one in the pic you provided.

Not sure if this was happening before the latest patch, but when I aim down sight after running/jogging and getting out of breath (you hear you character huffin' and puffin') each hard breath I take will move my gun/aim - even while holding down rmb. As my breathing slows down to normal, my sights become increasingly more stable until I am at normal breathing (no huffin' and puffin') and can hold a steady aim. Has anyone else noticed this? I've only tested with an M4/ACOG and Magnum. I think it is a very realistic aspect and was wondering if this is a new addition to mechanics, or if I just never noticed after 100+ hours of playtime.

Aiming down sight while breathing heavy
stolenbanjos replied to stolenbanjos's topic in General Discussion
Gotcha, so this ^...AND if you are already out of breath from running/jogging, you just have to wait until you get back to normal breathing before you can take a steady shot. That's legit. -

Aiming down sight while breathing heavy
stolenbanjos replied to stolenbanjos's topic in General Discussion
Hey Kimo, so you are saying if I unbind the "hold breath" key I always have a rock steady aim, even when out of breath? -
I agree, it was the best of all gun sounds so far pre-patch. I just realized I did not fire mine last night, so I haven't heard the new audio yet.

Bought DayZ SA today. This is my opinion after 10 hours.
stolenbanjos replied to KRIMSON SCORN's topic in New Player Discussion
Also, check your body language. I've met more friendlies than nasties in Day Z after 103 hours of game play. Actions carry more value than words do in my Day Z player interaction experiences. The true hardcore KoS'ers don't hesitate and saying "friendly" doesn't help you at all. So do you run to Balota/NWAF/Cherno/Electro? If so, then find a new route from your spawn and you will likely have a completely different experience. -
The last guy was so scared of you, the friendly medic, that he couldn't shoot straight. Poor liitle fella was so confused, like a little lost puppy.

Looting dead players is dangerous, as it should be. What if you could grab someone's backpack in hand and take it to a safer place? It would take the edge off looting and sorting your gear at the "scene of the crime" and would be a realistic decision to increase your odds of survival. Sorry, I didn't play the mod and am not sure if this is planned, couldn't find it posted. edit: also, stashing friends' packs if they die

10 minute is not enough to loot dead bodies you put down

The very first kill. Do you remember yours?
stolenbanjos replied to skoms's topic in General Discussion
Got charged on the second floor of a building in Stary by a dude with a splitting axe from behind. Luckily he was worse with an axe than I was with a Mosin in a tight space, he hit me once and I hit him once. It took me three shots to hit, one hip and two ads. He must've missed me 3-4 times with the axe. Reloading seemed like eternity, heart was racing, love this game! -
Putting backpacks in hand - Looting in "safety"

It'd be awesome to tag buildings and/or people with spray paint.

Random Death without hunger/thirst messages?
stolenbanjos replied to TheIronGuardian (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
If you complain about ANYTHING in this game on the forums instead of reporting bugs, then uninstall the game and reinstall in 6 months. -
What have you been doing in-game while awaiting patches: Honesty please.

On my current character I am camping sniper hill above Elektro looking for spineless KoS bandits to mug or kill. -
How long does it take to run from one edge to the map to the other?
stolenbanjos replied to marsmars's topic in General Discussion
Maybe they will implement craftable fuel from cow patties -
So far I've died fully geared...6 times to stair/ladder glitch, 2 times to ghosters/hoppers, 3 times because of random charcter wipes, several times as a bambi getting too many zombie hits, and have yet to die in a real firefight (non hopper/ghoster). If I were to get upset about it, I would hate this game. But I to love the respawn, a new adventure, learn from your mistakes, report bugs, and play on. Please OP just don't become one of these people that are so scared to lose their gear that they combat log and/or never interact with anyone unless they are at an obvious advantage.

"alt-print screen" caps the actual open windows and not the desktop...me thinks...not tested.
