I don't see the problem. There could be a kind of tag for a log off, but also without it the heroes would treat him like somebody who doesn't collaborate. If a menace they shoot, if not they don't. There's no moral conflict and if you die by heroes' hand it's totally your fault. In case they don't do anything till the time's over it shouldn't be an issue, it means they didn't want to kill him anyway, and if they wanted to help, again, his fault.

Last time I played EVE online if you logged off when your ship was already targeted, the ship would last for a certain time and you would be essentially screwed. It's quite simple to use the same logic: if you disconnect when there are people around, your char will last longer on the server. So if you are in front of a gun, you're probably dead, if you're hiding you must hide yourself well, or simply try to run off undetected and log off.

I got "healthy" drinking and eating a lot. Anyway I still drink and eat all I can drink and eat cause I think that the "healthy" status doesn't really mean a full energy/hydration but a good status of them.

No. I think most of us when say "kos" mean "irrational and gratuitous killing, for boredom, e-penising, coddiness or whatever that kills the game like is intented to be played" That "intented to be played" include anyway: killing to survive, killing for bandit entertainment (there is people that would shoot for entertainment in a real situation like this) and a lot of other kos reasons. The point is that what should be a part of the game (killing for entertainment) has become the main game, reaching idiotic levels like spawn killing. That's the problem, not killing somebody in range because better safe than sorry or I like your pants and I'm an a-hole.

Reading this post I understand that you can create a non kos server but, obviously, there's a balance problem with it. Planck says you can't. What are the rules, exactly?

I think this "PVE" servers should change name in something like "we would like to enjoy the very soul of this game: surviving in a hostile environment and kill each other when there's a reason (mostly), so COD kids (or childish old men) please leave us alone". But it's too long I must admit. However OP thinks that the spirit of the game is to kos, and he feels himself like a powerful judge about it. Well, sir, I think you miss the point of DayZ, but have your fun whatever it takes to.
