don't hate on mac because you can't afford one ;) jokes on the real I've used mac, windows and sometimes linux for many years and can tell you that Mac OSX is hands down the best overall operating system for getting things done / work . No other OS is remotely close for speed, simplicity, UI and stability. And I use Windows often also so I'm not a just a MAc fanboy. Is it the best value and would suggest to people? No. But best operating systems for sure. T

Oh man , you are wasting your effort, you already have an intel pc processor inside your mac!! Just buy a copy of windows and use bootcamp to boot native to PC when you want to play games... easy peasy How can people not know this ?? :)

1PP is far superior to 3PP because the immersion and intensity of the gameplay is much better in 1pp. 3PP long time players, I ask you: just try hardcore for week and report back. Yes you will be tapping "enter" many times in sticky situations for the first day or two , then you will feel the true power. As teapot stated above this game is %70 spotting things/people so when you have a magical unicorn periscope to ease the rainbow ride, it takes the intensity and fun away. T

1: Lack of zombie mobs / too easy to survive 2: Gameplay Clunkiness: never being able to break out of the Arma 2 system clunk (scroll wheel, slow animations, font from 1996, server lag, overall glitchiness) -

I love this idea. Zooming in from 3rd person to 1rst person is quite silly anyway. cross hairs would be better with no switching.

The circular arguments have reached a starchy euphoric state of full potato. Nothing at all about fixing the issue. You know what I thought the same thing "This dude seems shorter than he should be" The view needs to be higher at least when in upright stance, I think this will be more comfortable too. When I'm running full stance through trees it feels like I'm groveling and hunched over like a cave man, the ground is so close to me. -
Yeah I asked twice on this very thread why wouldn't 3PP advocates agree to the 4th wall method,,,, nothing but cricket sounds. I'm not sure those abusing the view point advantage want it to be addressed. Don't get me wrong I understand the comfort / preference thing for 3PP, but why not remove the exploits?

I play First Person and want 3rd person removed completely... BUT.. I respect those that want the comfort of 3rd person. It's understandable. The tactical advantage of 3rd person players utilizing a hovering magical periscope is unacceptable for me. The "4th Wall" Seems to address that issue and avoids breaking up the player base. My question is this: Those that want to play 3rd person what is your reason for not wanting the "4th wall" method implemented?

I'm totally happy with the "4thwall" approach as created by Outlaw. I would be interested in any sound reasons as to why this would not be a good idea to implement? I personally believe 1rst person to be the true path to sublime immersion and godliness, yet I have patience and a profound compassion for my less learned brothers who have not yet been touched by the divine. With Outlaws' 4thwall doctrine we can learn to live together and move forward with our journeys.

I've met other armed people plenty of times and not resulted in a shootout. If you can get over the first 5 seconds of wondering if you will kill each other usually friendship or alliance is made. I'm not always friendly either though, sometimes I kos if they look like a threat, or feeling needy. If I get then drop on them and don't feel like shooting them I'll call out and see what happens, it could be a fun adventure. Just Killing everyone on sight is kinda weak sauce. relevant quote below.

This argument has been beat to death there is no point in even trying. You are totally correct though in your statement,, people just want to play in easy (comfortable mode), thats all there is to it. Thank goodness for the "off" filter in the server menu. It should be off by default, but it won't be. Real hardcore players play 1rst person only, everyone knows that :) -

hmm interesting. I use it often although it's so so ,,,ever so painfully slow compared to arma 3. Although I see the concern I would relate it to focusing in on a subject IRL, kind of like tunnel vision. If you see a friend in real life far away across a field your eyes focus on that point even though technically your field of view does not change, but you are focusing in. Maybe it could be lessened a bit. -
Pro Tip: Type "Off" in server filter to find First Person Only Servers

As the title states If you are looking for First Person only servers type: Off in the Server filter to find those servers with 3rd person disabled. Also If you are a First person player you can map "zoom out" to a mouse button if you feel the need to temporarily zoom out for additional situational awareness. Of course use alt button to free look as we all know. see you out there,,, but not over a wall. ;) -
Good post but hackers won't read it or if they do they will just get more enjoyment from your butt hurt. Take comfort in this notion: The people that can't play for shit and have to "hack" to ruin everyone else's fun are complete and total failures IRL. They will never amount to anything because they don't put value in themselves and lack the intelligence and patience to get good at something over time. It's alwasy that little kid from school that everone hates and has to eat worms and boogers to get attention, they get a little older and simple game hacking is the result. This is the gods honest truth , if you ever meet someone who does full server wipes or broken legs or the like they are just the biggest hopeless losers in real life :( you mad hacker bro?? thats you hahahaah!!! ;)

If you could play the mod at 30fps on your system I believe you should be fine to play the standalone. It's worth a try. What you could also do is while in Windows run a 3d mark test or gaming performance tester and see how it measures up. Your specs look a little low but it could still be playable.

Yeah I hate to say "game breaking" but at this point I find myself not wanting to play until it's fixed, I know the devs are on it , and it will be fixed hopefully soon, but still, it's unplayable ATM. Side note: is there a config setting that can be manually altered in the mean time? I tried putting the smoothing to 0 which does nothing. -

Mouse movement in general is really terrible., it's not just me getting used to it. I got used to Arma 2 (dayz mod) , it was clunky but playable. This movement in Standalone is seriously bad. I can't play in the cities and I'm puttin in time, enough time to get used to it. It just whips around at irregular speeds and sensitivities. I have a logitech g400 which works just perfectly with any other game. Arma 2: Clunky but bearable Arma 3: A pleasure Dayz SA: Horrid Yes as OP stated Top Priority -

Could there ever be a scenario where you have say 250 zombies roaming Zelengorsk (or another city or area) and no zombies anywhere else on the map? Just thinking in terms of a side mini mission as an option later on. I know I know it's an abomination of the game but still!!! I always thought it would be fun to do a mission to say rescue a family in a city overrun with a massive hoard. Could be fun times. No? -

I value your opinion. It's great to see new posters on this epic thread voicing their opinion. Almost all new posters are first person kinda guys :) The concerned masses have spoken and 1rst person has prevailed as the master view method of the enlightened. Only one or two die hard 3rd person advocates spinning a circular argument.
