What you're doing wrong is assuming it's a survival game with emphasis on teamwork and communication. Aside from the fact that the game is still in alpha, there is literately nothing that requires teamwork or any form of communication. And if people do communicate, it's through teamspeak or some other 3rd party software. The game you have in mind is far from being done and most likely will never even exist. Killing On Sight is something that will always be present in DayZ. If you really want to avoid it, wait for private hives and go play with a Role Playing community that has their own server that has a password and is whitelisted. The things you're expecting from public hives are, unfortunately, unrealistic.

Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?

Well sorry for playing the game in a way it's meant to be played. if i need stuff. stuff that i see you have. why would i bother going somewhere else to look for said stuff when i could just kill you and take said stuff? Also this is partly the games fault. As there aren't any effective ways to knock someone out from a distance. I'd be more than happy to knock someone out, cuff em, put a burlap on their head, take what i want/need. and then be on my way without killing them. If you shoot on sight why do you do it? because i was bored or got startled. can you explain to me why you are not bad at the game if you shoot on sight? why would i be bad? how would i be bad? i saw you first. i shot first. and you died. sucks for you and that in no way makes me "bad at the game" What is your opinion on people who shoot on sight? It's their choice. If they want people to KoS less then they need to implement reasons not to. Do you think they are just pure douche bags that ruin your DayZ experience? No. Killing players is part of the experience. This isn't rainbow and sunshine land where everyone is friends. Shit has hit the fan and the best stay alive. Should they be ashamed of themselves? Nope. You should be less butthurt or go play on a private hive/RP server with rules. -
Dayz could definitely use a lot more gore. Though knowing just how rigid everything is in a game that uses the arma engine, i can't imagine seeing too much of this.. But i'd really like infected to fall apart easier when shooting or hacking them. players as well of course. Nothing i'd like more than a blown open arm or face when shooting them. that alone adds quite a bit of horror to the game.
-
That's how it's already planned to work.. and they're taking it a step further. You don't just need the engine, you'll need engine parts as well like spark plugs. Vehicle assembly and maintenance is going to be fairly complex.

It certainly would give masks, face bandannas, helmets and other face obscuring items more reason for being in the game. So yeah i'd be all for it. Not anytime soon though, this is something for way after launch.

Sounds like you need better coordination then. I just did that exact thing twice in a row without a problem. run into a house, dance around the zombie and close the door as i run back out. very easy to do and i don't have to to stop at any point (aside from sometimes waiting for the zombie to come in)

It's not a rumor. They talked about it in the last few dev blog, go read em.

yup. http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/536249579742611110/1079061***9EC5FFDCF6E905570FF9E02A867DF/ Found the helmet in the warehouse with the 2 big blue doors, and the visor in the barn with the wooden stairs you can go up on both sides. threw it away somewhere in a field though. Felt out of place wearing cargo pants and hoody (simple look i was going for, average survivor-ish)

No. Read the latest blog, they're still designing and making the components.
-
I don't get why people don;t just use the steam browser to open the map.. Alt-tabbing is so 2013..
-
I really hope so too, but doubt it. For sake of making it modular they'll most likely go with the A3.
-
These are some really solid suggestions that would definitely push things in the right direction.

Do you carry a handgun when you have an automatic rifle?
chompster replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
No, as i never end up using it making it a waste of inventory space. -
Good thing that isn't the case already then.

Let's talk about body armor and its possible negatives to gameplay.
chompster replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
OHGODYESPLEASESOSEXY!. *ahem* But yeah agree that body armor should definitely provide at least some sort of protection. If not then they shouldn't slow you don't either nor would there be any reason to bother going to a military location and get one. Not much else to say that other haven't already. So to answer the OP Anyone else feel they should make ballistic helmets, Kevlar vests, plate carriers and other personal body armor items purely cosmetic and not have any sort of personal protection and instead only be sought after due to their look and carry capacity ? No. -
Don't fully agree. Military gear are great for end-game objectives and continue to keep players pushing deeper to more dangerous areas. Feel like i'v been brainwashed by Katana, but it's all about rarity. If they can get that right (which no doubt will take them some time..) Then there can be just as much military gear as residential and hunting. Just that they'd be way harder to find. In the end it doesn't matter what they add, just how they balance the amount of it all.
-
Guess they just need to make them a lot more common, as right now i always find them after i'v found hundreds of AKs, shotguns and other rifles. Aside from maybe the shotgun, pistols should be the "entry" level weapon you would see most people with. And even so, i think pistols should always outnumber the amount of rifles.

Same stupid "running with pistol" animation as in A3
chompster replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
Yeah i really hope they bring that back. Not only could it help with sprinting faster, but also help with looking less hostile. -
I'd like them to move away from rifles for a bit and instead add more melee weapons, pistols, SMGs and shotguns.

This also counts for some other items, like the compass. That one makes even less sense to hold with both hands when sprinting. -
The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them
chompster replied to Trizzo's topic in General Discussion
For those that haven't yet, here's a link to a recent Q&A where barricading was brought up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DjdtfQhmmw#t=1262 -
Why nobody want to play in the night time?
chompster replied to MrKartel's topic in General Discussion
Because gamma/brightness exploit and light passing through everything. -
2-3 months creating one unique building -SenChi
chompster replied to victusmortuus's topic in General Discussion
Unless he's talking about the very start of someone starting the concept.. adjustments..approval.. start modeling.. more adjustments.. testing.. adjustments.. more testing.. approval.. animations.. testing.. etc. Then i can kind of get it. But if he meant 2-3 months to actually make the 3D model and textures for a single building(he didn't specify size) then that's absolutely ridiculous. -
I get that, and that's the problem. As soon as someone refuses to reveal his stats when you ask him he's pretty much untrustworthy and you're better off just killing him (at which point he's point blank making him a huge threat to yourself). So those that kill a lot of players have pretty much no use for this system as it outright tells the other person he's a killer.
