--Deleted. As I read on, I saw a mod interject making my comment pointless --

Tactical lights are meant to blind people - not necessarily to illuminate in front of you. And yes, they shine bright as hell in daylight too.

In DayZ we're supposed to be civilians surviving a zombie apocalypse, not Olympic bulls eye target shooters. Just sayin =]

I agree. I personally want facial hair on my character, but you should definitely be able to shave.
-
You tell me - I didn't play the mod, friend.

So even though it's an old interview, are these features still confirmed? I'd love to grow a beard in game the longer I'm alive.
-
Lol I know that feel. I did the same thing when I first started.

For those complaining about development pace

I agree 100%. People think that by making 1,000,000 posts on the same topic is more effective than just having 1 thread containing the topic with 1,000,000 replies in it. People need to use the search function and contribute to trending, existing posts and stop creating their owns that eventually turn into flame bait anyway. -
I love reading funny reviews of ... well anything. These were pretty great. I think my favorite was "how do i walk" lol

How many people do you kill in a life on average?
Mdogg2005 replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I voted 0 for this reason. I play up north with a squad of 3 and it usually goes pretty smooth up there with players being understanding and not wanting to just shoot the first thing they see. -
I agree. Also the amount of marijuana leafs, penises, and other inappropriate icons will no doubt make their way into the game in seconds after this feature is introduced. Look at CoD and BF4 - awful idea IMO. I don't want to see a jeep with a giant, leaking penis spray-painted on the side of it driving around Cherno. People need to stop making suggestions that attempt to turn DayZ into CoD with random loot.

Lol no.

Agreed 100% I am always ready and willing to support a game / developer that is open about their development cycle and progress. As long as they continue to bring us small fixes / updates along the way and keep us fully up to date on what's going on and what is planned for the next update, etc. then I am fine with them taking as long as they need (within reason of course). I also agree that bugs and stuff being found need to be mentioned - but not 100000 times in the general forums, as you've said. The people screaming "It's alpha stfu!" also do nothing but hurt game development. Yes it's alpha.. it's in alpha because things like this need to be addressed before it can move into beta and then final release. Thanks. -
Really? What awful advice.. Do not do this.

From what I hear those nerds who are doing the game DDOSing DayZ as we speak. Not sure why they need to do that, and no I won't name them because that's giving those script kiddies more attention, but from what I understand the servers are being spammed at the moment rendering the game unplayable.

Agreed. I like item durability. It forces people to THINK rather than just KoS.

From what I understand they will be releasing console versions wayyyyy down the road once the PC ones are 100% complete (aside from updates obviously). Also, for the record, you can buy a decent gaming PC for as much or maybe one to two hundred dollars more than a PS4 and Xbox one. Just saying. -
I met several players. One player eagerly looted with me and acted friendly towards me until he found a wrench and bashed my brains in once I said he could have it and I'll just get the next melee weapon.. Another followed me around as I looted today and I waved at him asking him if he wanted to work together and head north. After flipping me off he crouched towards me and killed me with a crowbar. The one person I did decide to defend myself against was attacking me with a bat of some sorts. He (what a surprise) came at me without saying a word and just started meleeing me after I said "Hi" over comms and waved in-game. He combat logged because I knocked him down via punching his face. What a skilled player. The final gentleman I crossed was while I was looting that airport by the beach (the name slips me, I'm new) and he just straight up came after me and killed me I literally had nothing since I even dropped my flashlight. I asked him why I was killed and if I posed a threat to him. He said "no lol im a bandit." So this professional bandit killed me to verify his banditry.. I guess? He can play how he wants I suppose, but I guess I just don't consider someone crowbaring / wrenching helpless fresh spawns to be a "bandit." Bandit usually implies robbing, holding up, taking captive, etc. I had a great time playing the game yesterday (probably because I didn't encounter any of the skilled players I mentioned above), so I definitely don't hate the game nor will I stop playing it. I just figured I'd share my experience with you guys. First post, woo!

I just... wow. I don't understand what compells someone to just straight up kill someone who was helpful to them.
-
I never played the mod but I must say that anonymity is great encouragement to be a random asshole since nothing bad will likely come of it. And I fully support being able to see who's who - especially since Steam names aren't limited to just DayZ. Edit: My friend is playing now and I just saw him attempt to interact with a player. A guy rushed him with a melee weapon and my friend drew his gun before the gentleman could get in melee range. He starts to sprint away. My friend tells him to halt or he'll fire if he doesn't stop running. The gentleman logs out. Seems logical. Run at someone with the intention to kill them, then log out when you're in any mild danger. What people don't realize is that the more that KOS and combat logging happens to others, the more people will do it (because they'll get frustrated with it happening to them). I realize they are issues that will be addressed and resolved in the future, but let's just think for a moment if everyone just shot at everyone without a thought or word or reason to. And if everyone just logged out at any sense of mild danger or threat. How fun would the game be? (rhetorical question obviously, the game would be pointless - you see where I'm going with this). Anyway, I'll keep it short winded since this wasn't a KOS or combat logging thread, I just wanted to share my experiences with the first players I've ever interacted with in the game. Thanks again for reading and giving me the beans!

Yeah that's what I live for in games like this. Player interaction. I find no fun or pleasure in killing people on sight or running after another fresh spawn just to kill them for their flashlight. Makes no sense to me.

Yeah I get that, and yesterday when I actually had loot I was much more cautious and did everything by the books (in the end, disease is what took me). What I don't understand though is that I waved at every one of these people. I said "hi" over voice, and they just sort of kill me with no rhyme or reason. Every time I was killed tonight I had nothing on me as I didn't even stay alive long enough to get anything useful. If I actually had loot I know better than to wave and expose myself to others, but I figured "what the hell, I have nothing anyway, might as well just say hello." I also find it funny that someone going around crow-baring people who can't defend themselves to death calls themself a bandit. As mentioned, I find that a bandit is someone who will steal your supplies and leave you helpless and bound, rather than just straight up coming after you crouched with a baseball bat :) I appreciate the tips too. I'll remember them for when [if] I ever get my hands on a gun again. And thanks for the welcome and the beans everyone! Glad to be here!
