So this happened. No man Is an Islad
Mdogg2005 replied to digitalonion's topic in General Discussion
Wow I need to stop looking at the forums while at work, that made me laugh so hard. -
Yeah I agree. Though you gotta remember the people that server hop are also the same scum that combat log any time any potential danger pops up. These are kids who think they're hot shit and get their "lolz" from doing this. They won't listen to your logic or mine - or anyone's.
-
Yeah they're legit alright. That's why the devs are working on "FIXES" for this. Right.

How seriously do you take your gameplay?
Mdogg2005 replied to KnightFall1856's topic in General Discussion
This. Too bad nobody will listen. My friends and I all got this game, and half of them were like me and immersing ourselves in the experience even with lack of features, the other half (people who play lots of LoL, CoD, etc) got impatient and decided to kill their kitten survivors and just go DM on the coast until an update drops. Doesn't make sense to me. But hey, whatever floats their boat I guess. I just wish it didn't seem like 90% of the community here thought that way. "Well, it's alpha and a lot isn't in the game yet so I'm just gonna DM and feed people bleach HURR HURR" -
The replies in this thread are exactly why I'm not surprised this community is fucked before the game is even in beta.

A quick use of the search function shows no less than 5 threads with the almost exact same title created within the last week.

What is this I really don't even.....

First reply answered the question in its entirety. The point of the game is to scavenge and survive. Put yourself in the shoes of your survivor and do whatever it takes to survive. In a real scenario, you can't just scavenge a town that's been picked over and go "Well, better switch servers!" That is why you shouldn't server hop. Not to mention the fact that the people playing the game correctly, the way I mentioned above, are losing out because people are server hopping rather than playing together. So together with the fact that it breaks everyone's immersion in the game, it's giving you an unfair advantage and screwing over others who are trying to play fair. The fact that Dean is working on a fix is something of an indicator that it shouldn't be done in the first place. But kids will always exploit and do what it takes to gain an unfair advantage I guess. In the end you do what you want, but I will be there killing players like you who can't play the correct way and have to re-adapt to the game because you learned how to exploit rather than learn how to survive.

Why Mouse Acceleration in First Person desperately needs Fixing #2 *Long Post*

If you hold left alt, your head (view) moves independently from your arms and weapon. I don't see the issue. -
I see what you did there. I'm still not sure I can accept your argument, but I definitely see what you're saying. Also getting a scratch from an infected and having your fluids intertwine with theirs are two separate things. Take a look at 28 days later, the movie which Dean has expressed had a huge influence on the design of the infected in DayZ. People get scratched or punched - no biggie, but if you get their blood or saliva in your body you're screwed. Being punched by an infected (obviously, this is all fictional so I can't say for certain) would not infect you, but being bitten, where their saliva is put into your body, will - for example.
-
Well hey, go ahead and take some AIDS blood in - you might be immune. Either way let me know the results, I'm intrigued. What I'm saying is that it's fine and dandy that rocket said that we're immune, but how does my character know that? My character doesn't know or care what "rocket said" so why would he, in good conscience, extract blood from an infected being and willingly inject it into his own blood stream? I'm not trying to argue or be difficult, I'm genuinely asking.
-
Infected. My bad. They are infected with something. Go ahead and inject some blood from a person with AIDS into your blood stream and let me know how that works out for you. The same principle applies to this scenario. They are infected, and I do not want what they have - therefore, dafuq?
-
I would not put blood from a zombie into my body. Dafuq?

People laugh in my Teamspeak when I tell them I make my girlfriend sammiches - not the other way around. She burns microwave popcorn so I'll do the sammich making in our house. :) -
How do I switch to experimental builds?
Mdogg2005 replied to bryanslegend's topic in General Discussion
Allows you to test the experimental builds before they go into the "actual game." -
Unarmed fighting needs to be severely nerfed
Mdogg2005 replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
What? Unarmed combat does not need to be nerfed. If you hate getting knocked out by unarmed players, don't get so close and let them knock you out? It's simple. Let unarmed players defend themselves if someone is dumb enough to get close to someone who has nothing to lose. Not everyone in this game sprints instantly after respawning to go to the nearest military base. Some people like to play the game as intended and that may involve needing to fight off zombies with your fists before you get a melee weapon. Do not nerf unarmed melee just because you people feel the need to pvp at the coast near unarmed fresh spawns all day. My 2 cents. -
Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
Mdogg2005 replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Clever response. As if I haven't been saying the same thing in every thread I post in... I asked a very specific question and a reason why I wanted the info. I know there will be character wipes. But for this patch I'd like to know so I don't waste several hours running if I'm going to spawn on the beach soon anyway. -

Sorry, not skimming through 27 pages, but is it safe to assume there will be a wipe for this patch? -

Mdogg2005 replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
So I am guessing there will be a character wipe either right before or right after this patch launches? I only wonder because I just bought my girlfriend the game and was making my way to where she spawned to help her out and if we're both gonna get wiped out anyway I may as well wait until the wipe happens before I play again. Thanks! -
You could not break other people's immersion by playing retarded songs over comms. If you want to troll there are plenty of other things to do other than playing stupid shit over comms.

We NEED "XXXXXX" why isn't it in yet?
Mdogg2005 replied to Window Licker's topic in General Discussion
This is what I keep trying to tell people too. I will share my beans with you. -
There are no hackers in DayZ. There are script kiddies, cheaters, and file editors. The person who killed you probably edited his game files to be able to see and shoot through objects.
