I'm already having a hard time finding any ammunition for my weapon, but then again I'm not exactly hanging out in military areas. If ammo rarity was to be increased, so should weapons. I mean, unless I had the option to use my m4 as a melee, I wouldn't have any problem, but keeping it around, making other people think I'm an armed threat while in reality i'm bulletless, and shooting me for fear of my potential danger, would be pretty sad, and also contradict the ammo scarcity's original purpose.

You should have no problems. How large is your resolution? You might play at a lower % than 100, but it's no biggie.

How to authentically strike the right balance of PvP in DayZ SA.
Antediluvian replied to Zeds_Undead_baby's topic in General Discussion
I voted #2, and I assume #3 will happen by the time the final version's out. -
Would you like to see achievements? Do you think that certain aspects like banditry would be tamed if appropriate achievements were added, or would they get worse? What achievements would you add, if you had the choice? I'd probably add very loose-based achievements that don't require 1 life to complete. And perhaps add an achievement 'X days survived' that would reset with each new life.
-
Hahahah! Oh my, that's not what I had in mind at all! And yea, achievements that derail you from normal gameplay suck, and should not be included. Just imagine the chaos that would ensue from achievements like 'Kill 50 zombies with a screwdriver' or 'Force feed 5 alcohol solutions' Implementing achievements in a way that won't disrupt the natural order of things is pretty hard. The only ones that could be integrated without problems or ranting on the community's part would be the ones that come naturally as you progress / survive.

I dont think vehicles will be added soon, cause you don't see any wheels or engine parts anywhere. While features that'll be included in the near future, like cooking, already have many relevant items among the loot pools (gas canisters etc)

Sounds like a nightmare. Rage virus? That means 1 good hit and you're finished. Isn't that a bit brutal? Also, locked in zombie-state? Uncontrollable, I imagine. But for how long? No option to respawn? It would be cool if you could find your zombie-self, but zombies de-spawned if nobody was around, where would your zombocopy be kept at?

Armor, Clothes and Equipment you'd like to see.
Antediluvian replied to Ceallach's topic in General Discussion
I'd love to see thematic uniforms. A medic overcoat that could be found in the hospital, a police uniform looted from rare zombies, heck. Anything is possible, most of the clothing you'd see in a city could be available. -
They have rented a SA server, but there are no heavy rp rules or whitelists yet, so expect to see a few out-of-character people (and kos bandits too) albeit at a reduced chance than other servers.

I think rocket had made a similar statement concerning the standalone release date being pushed back, some time ago.
-
Huh? Harvesting plants to add to a suit? Not sure if that's how ghillies work. You could craft a makeshift version.. It would be cool, but a bit hard to implement.

Don't worry. I think the devs know how to focus on constructive posts suggesting stuff (even on alpha times) and ignore the other white noise amidst a thread. I don't know how many of the dev team worked on the Mod version of DayZ, but I remember reading various suggestions in the early days of DayZ forums, and many of these suggestions actually came in later patches. They are among us, and they are watching what we're saying.

Since so many features are incorporated with realism in mind, shouldn't incoming bullets affect the health status of various stuff you'd carry? They already have health levels for everything, but they don't seem to change / being repairable for the moment but that's surely gonna happen by the time the game is released. This would also make bandits and people who like to shoot other people, think a bit before pulling the trigger. They're out for your loot, after all, and shooting you might damage the goods. What are your opinions on this particular feature?

How do you deal with other players?
Antediluvian replied to SploogeMcDuck's topic in General Discussion
I don't. I always travel from cover to cover, nobody has yet caught me with my pants down. Can't be too paranoid. Now, if I find someone who is unaware of me: If he's armed, I stay hidden and wait until he leaves. If he's unarmed, I stay hidden and wait until he leaves, then I track them for a while. If I hear any gunshots, I know he probably ran into some bad folks, and see if I can catch his killers red-handed. Only happened once, to catch a bandit in the act, but I generally try to replicate that event. I'm a crazy heroic stalker, is what I am. I never go looking for trouble, I only loot hotspots during the night and when I'm feeling friendly, I only show myself to bambis, to get them up on their feet. -
Need Medical Assistance in DayZ SA ? Find Your medic here!
Antediluvian replied to TMWMarijke's topic in General Discussion
I like the idea. I'll probably never need your help, so I might join y'all. One question though, you do realise that some people might call for your help while actually being bandits, right? You could use bodyguards, spice things up a bit. Good luck with this undoubtedly noble quest in an otherwise brutal and inhuman Chernarus. -
Dean said the beta will be out in about a year from now. I interpret that as 'we got a looot of stuff to do and we'll take our time until they're ready' Don't get into this whole trip waiting for the next patch constantly, you'll get bored very soon cause I don't think patches will be too frequent. Prefer large, meaningful patches instead of small tweaks every week or sth. The big problems that concern most of you won't be fixed soon anyway.

This sounds nice. Many stuff like boiling water, administering a blood transfusion, even cooking properly, could be addressed in various books. Hell, how about people not being able to transfer blood if they haven't read a relative book? It's not like everyone knows how to do it. (Just kidding, that would be sooo cruel..) Maybe they'll add a 'Zombie Survival Guide' fiction book that covers basics and provides tips. Starting item? I like the idea, regardless.

when did being friendly become bieng a sucker
Antediluvian replied to gannon46's topic in General Discussion
Approaching people and stating 'friendly' is a bad idea, bandits and heroes universally agree. If I ever feel confident / bored enough to go play hero, I'd do it like this: Patrol an area where unfair killings take place (let's say the coast) If I hear a gunshot from not far away, chances are that a bandit just murdered a bambi. I'd approach stealthily and try to take him out while he's looting, his guard let down, imagining the gunshots scared away most folks. And boom, i shoot him. While this tactic doesn't save the victims, it ensures one less bandit being around these parts (until he gears up again) Be a vigilante today. Do you ever saw Batman approaching Gotham city's thugs and yelling 'friendy'? -
While vehicles would be a good distraction / endgame for most of us, I imagine rocket and his team are working on ideas about cars and stuff that weren't in the mod. Seeing as many realism features are being remade into more complex formulas, I can only imagine how finding and repairing a vehicle would work now. It's sure to involve lots of wrenches and duct tape. With that assumption in mind, I guess it'll take a while before we see vehicles as the dev team envisions them. That said, however, I wish I had a good ol bike to go around places. It's so nice and stealthy, and doesn't require much in ways of repairing and finding. Plus it has no storage, so that's something off its programming requirements.

Maybe he did it accidentally? I mean, why on earth would you attack an ax guy with your fists? Are the fists deadly? One time I punched a stuck zombie ~30 times, took all my hits like a champ.

I'm sorry that this happened to you OP, but it seems like you met an ex-spetsnaz grandmaster of systema (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systema)

Loot spawning could use a bit of tweaking...You can find all sorta stuff in weird locations. Just found 2 axes on top of a piano inside a suburbian house. I would like to meet the owner of that house.

Bicycles and segways maybe

Just wanted to take a stab at clarifying KOS misconceptions
Antediluvian replied to fathairybeast's topic in General Discussion
While I agree with you so much, i'll play the role of devil's advocate for a second there. People KOS a lot because: There isn't much else to do right now. I'm not sure how big an issue it was in the days of the Mod, I myself was too sneaky to be ever caught by anyone. But right now, I hardly see any zombies in the towns of the mainland. No danger of zombies if you have a gun and 2 legs to run, loot is plentiful, loot camping is possible and character wipes will be a common occurence I imagine. And remember!! If you hate KOS there are some servers that have strict rules about it. Dayzrp is a good example, I used to hang out there before the standalone. Not sure how they're doing now, probably setting up for SA.
