I'll swap ya an AKM and 75rnd mag for it :D

I like the AUG because it only needs mags to be a good weapon. The 1.5x scope is more of an aimpoint red-dot rather than something like the ACOG. People complain about the scope because they are comparing it to an actual scope. Obviously, an M4 with an ACOG would be the superior choice when comparing the two, otherwise they are equivalent in my opinion. Effective range is 300m, 500m is the maximum. The "scope" makes it hard to shoot at anything more than 300m though. It's shorter and looks smaller on your back than the M4. It's a more streamline gun, not having to worry about attatchments. M4 has the MP attachments that make it more accurate, CQB stock that makes it more maneuverable, RIS handguard that will fit the weapon flashlight and bi-pod, and a picatinny rail to allow for different sighting systems including the ACOG. It can mount the 5.56 NATO suppressor to the muzzle or a bayonet knife. It also has select-fire (Auto, Semi-Auto) and an effective range of 500m (800m with ACOG). The Steyr AUG is a bullpup configuration 5.56 assault rifle meaning it is shorter and compact yet still has a full-length barrel and the advantages that come with it. It has a built-in non removable 1.5x scope, sighted to ensure a guaranteed hit when aiming center-mass (up to 300m), built-in rangefinder (up to 500m) and a forward grip. Effective range is 500m. Can also mount the 5.56 NATO suppressor. All in all, it's a great gun to have before you find an M4 and an ACOG. I definitely prefer it, but that might be because I'm Australian.

It's Wednesday. Every Wednesday there is server maintenance, in which they check the hardware and clear the servers amongst other things. This is what your experiencing currently. EDIT: Oops, just read your post again. Sometimes (mostly persistent servers) just crash. Jump off, and rejoin a different server.

DayZ minimum/recommended Specs and your rig

The higher the single core clock speed the better. I'd focus your build on the cpu (watercooling and what-not) and overclocking it as much as you can. -
Correct Mounting of Suppressor East on AK Variant Rifles
alldaypk replied to erock482's topic in Suggestions
It was mentioned in one of the Weapons threads that it was just a bug. -
There's a Winchester to be added soon, hopefully with the new hunting scope. I can't find any posts about it, but I remember reading somewhere it might replace the Mosin as the designated "sniper" rifle. EDIT: The Winchester Model 70, comes with built in iron sights:

Vybor and Vybor Military base always seems to have action on low to medium populated servers. I can't tell you how many times I've been shot at or killed in that area. A good place to meet semi or fully geared players for some proper gunfights.

Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!
alldaypk replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
I know right? I don't think that's possible for a surplus WW2 rifle. -
Man you ruined his raincoat, you totally coulda taken that! Bloody awesome though.

A weapon spawns there 100% of the time, so long as no one was there before you, or it's a persistent server, at least in my experience. I've collected many Mosins and .357 Magnums.

That is literally my build. I get 18-20 at worst in large towns and cities, but it mostly hangs around 25 in cities. That is with 'Objects' at low. Graphics changes make little or no difference, in fact, raising them seems to improve fps. It takes the load off the CPU and puts it onto the GPU where it belongs.
-
The game only uses one core of the cpu on a very cpu intensive game (it'll be optimized in time). A high single core clock speed is what will make all the difference.

Hahaha no. What's happening is you're rejoining a server too quickly, wait until it says 14:01, or 8:01 depending on what time the server resets to. People have been complaining about how their character got reset and blaming it on crazy or weird reasons for weeks.

What "End Game Gear" Should Theoretically Be Like At Release
alldaypk replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I don't mind assault rifles, Sniper rifles, LMGs, full tactical military gear with pockets galore, huge backpacks and camo tents, humvees with mounted machine guns, NVGs or thermal scopes, SO LONG AS AMMO IS RARE AS FUCK, and electricity/fuel is a godsend. The most ammo I want to expect on someone is perhaps a full 30rnd mag and a collection of random pistol/shotgun cartridges. I don't care if everyone's got an AK (it's Russia) so long as no one has more than 30 rounds. -
I think this is the point op is trying to suggest, to combat serverhopping

I had an idea the other day, as an uncommon/rare spawn the military loot pool could spawn a camelbak canteen, a water bottle that is wearable under a regular backpack and supplies you with a drink of water every few minutes, but it depletes slowly. Or the regular civilian version for towns and cities. Some dot points: Wearable canteencan be worn by itself or under backpackgives a small drink every 5 minutes - depletes by 1%refillable (perhaps not only with water, something more viscus, perhaps blood...)bullets/knives puncture the water bladder, fixed with duct tapemore frequent/larger drinks the more dehydrated you areWhat do you think, should/could it be added?

Best place to server hop in search of heli crashes
alldaypk replied to ClintonJames's topic in General Discussion
Full pop servers is your best chance. Try Berenzino, or Novo and make sure you get someplace high, check the skies and when you see a helicopter - or even a bird for that matter - shoot at it with the loudest gun you have and a helicopter crash site will spawn. 100% works, legit players hate me -
Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
alldaypk replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Well it doesn't have to be so realistic as to have different mistakes on each gun, but my main point was to have roughness; a rushed cut that wasn't perfect. -

I meant on the barrel, as if your hacksaw slipped and scraped the top side, or the wood chipped and splintered because the hacksaw wasn't the sharpest it's ever been. -

Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
alldaypk replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I agree, splintered wood, tooling marks on barrel etc. -
I suppose this would work in high population density countries such as the UK or USA, but I live in Australia and there's only 2 full servers at any given time, every other server has 2 or 3. I don't know, I would hate to see 20 different servers with only 3 people each waiting for the server to fill up.

Katana Upsides Long sweeping blade yet lightwieghtRazor sharp edge (if maintained properly) that's designed for soft targets and light armourSmall, simple hand-guard that's out of the wayUltra style points for expert skillBut tbh, a broadsword or large 'Book of Eli' machete would win if badass points were a defining aspect. Downsides Ineffective in corridors or closed spacesFragile compared to a broadsword or a macheteDifficult to maintainRequires skill for maximum efficiencyIf I had a choice of any melee weapon in the world, it would probably be a stainless steel Tomahawk with a longish handle and lanyard because it would require little skill, double as a tool and be easy to maintain. A longer handle would put more distance between me and a zed but without compromising maneuverability and the lanyard would prevent me from dropping it when I inevitably fall on my back whilst fighting off a horde.
