It would be cool, correct me if I'm wrong but for every variation of the item (worn, dirty, bloodied etc.) a new item must be created. We already have 5 M4's essentially (pristine, worn, damaged etc.) cross that with the weather conditions and that's too many than the dayz team can handle, let alone the server that must spawn them. -
Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?

It does build tension and fear, but I don't want it to be something that I notice. Good gameplay should come from good features, but alas, it may never change... -
game features are introduced in an alpha (attachment system, base building, sickness & health, hunting etc), in beta the game is given more items/balanced (guns, pants, attachments, nerfing) etc and is polished to the final retail version, save for future patches (bugs, exploits, anti-hack measures) they don't add anything.

I think the harvesting system has more presence in an alpha, because it's a mechanic that needs to be tested to see if it would work.

atm the M4 fills all roles; High capacity mag- don't need to switch weapon, reloads without needing to go into inventory High powered cartridge- only 1-5 shots on a person, 1 for a zed Accurate- Now I know it has piss poor accuracy but with magpul stock, bi-pod and acog whilst prone it can reach to 400m. Ask yourself why you are shooting people at 400m+ Ammunition- if you're brave enough you can get at least a couple mags from a military base or one of the airfields, and you'll be set for a while. Set to semi-auto to stretch for ammo out farther. 60 rounds = 60 zombies, currently you are only faced with 5-10 per major city. and you can use a melee weapon anyway. As well as those it carries a whole host of attachments. Only downside is it can be challenging scouring the military bases and/or airfields for the gun and ammo.

dude, hardly 300. 10-20 zombies in electro (pretty big city) alone, same numbers for other major city, max 10 every other town.

Wear a hat out in the rain, note how it makes a water on canvas sound. I think this would suit, or some variation.

The previous survivor dropped it after they got shot in the back by a sniper. The body was then picked clean by zombies and other scavengers such as crows and feral cats. The rain then washed the bones down the hill into the nearby creek you took a drink from. After noticing the bones you followed the trail the rain left which lead you to the gun, partially covered in dirt, still with a mag attached and round in the chamber. -

I really like the idea of only having a very limited amount of ammo, it adds to the immersion. Like seriously, I shot my gun whenever I had the chance, just because the ammo was so easy to find, I knew if I survived until the next 30 mins I'd find 12 .357 magnum cartridges to replace the 3 I spent. -
are you kidding? I've been told not to feed trolls but i can't help but feel you're being serious. No, no nopity nooooope. Say your friends are at a military base, or one of the high loot spawns, you just respawned so you tele there. Worse than server hopping you station a friend at each of the milspec loot spawns and hop between them, AND THEN you change server. What of that guy stalking you? You can't tele because there's a guy behind you that's been stalking you for hours, now you're aware of his presence. Don't get me started on a mini-map.

atm you can still turn while vaulting, i've almost vaulted off buildings but turned in time to vault back on!

Can we just think of a different name to call a 'fully geared guy'? It pains me to read all the beautiful DayZ stories, and watch all the amazing and funny videos only to have the mood ruined, the immersion broken by ''and then, a fully geared guy came from behind..." Perhaps something more menacing? Stalker? I know in the Metro 2033 series they call the "fully geared guys" Stalkers because it meant they had braved the surface of Moscow and had the equipment and the scars to prove. I know there's a game of the name Stalker, a lot of you play it i assume... Endgames, Hunters (opposite of Bambi), Veteran, Ranger? Please post suggestions, i know some of you can come up with good names

That sounds about right, good for zombies, i got hit by a few and didn't bleed. later i noticed my helmet no longer the shiny pristine thing it once was, it was ruined.

Actually I agree with you, 1 hit to the head, 2-3 anywhere else. Perhaps if you miss it could take some time to recover too? -
The minimum specs are quite low compared to what i played on, and i only got 20-30 fps at best on lowest i could set, as well as loads of changes to the config files. Laptop 1280x720 i5 Radeon HD 5950 4gb (8gb made little difference) no SSD I don't know exact, i can't bring up dxdiag, the laptop's gone now. Edit: I realise it was probably my graphic that pulled the rest down for me. everything up to scratch but that.

well I don't see how your idea makes it worse in anyway so i'm all for it, as long as it's not too taxing on the developers and they feel up to it. TBH it sounds like just another feature i suppose.
