Reading your post made me want to play the game with you, lol. Im going on 200 hours in the SA, small compared to some, but I enjoy playing with people who can analyze the game and see its faults while still appreciating the fun it already offers.

I think something like this was talked about on a Walking Dead episode....basically worded along the lines of "You can smell their rotting flesh from a long distance away, if their sense of smell is still working, then your not rotting scent should stand out the same to them."

And now that Ive seen it, I cant unsee it.

I encountered a player who played the zombie noises through voip...freaked me out until I realized it was him.

Not bad, sometimes talking to them really helps... Although many of the people I encounter, if they have guns, say hello with a bullet.

Playing at night with your light on makes you a shining beacon of "come shoot me." That said, props for not cranking up the gamma at least.

I ran into a guy playing Guile from Street Fighter's music and just running around Elektro trying to punch everyone he could. It was entertaining for sure since I was a newspawn at that point and had nothing to really lose anyway.

It just takes time to learn what cities lie where and what certain landmarks are, especially if youre not on the coast. Once you begin to learn your way around without needing to check the Chernarus+ map, it becomes quite easy to meet up in specific locations.

Damn you people and your legitimate reasons it wouldnt make much sense to do it. That said, I just got ARMA 3 and have tried Altis life. I think its good where it is and look forward to its continuing evolution on its own branch of the online game tree.

This is where the coastal road ends in the West.(Just skip to the end as nothing much happens in the video) If you continue onto the plain grasslands, youll find nothing and eventually I think you fall into nothingness or starve, although Im not positive.

If it happens every time you enter a military building, meaning it's likely already happened a few times, what does that say about your playstyle and ability to learn from your mistakes?

I primarily play with a mouse and keyboard on it and thats why Im installing the new platform for them to rotate down ontop of the arcade controls. I only mentioned the game working with the arcade controls because theyre assigned keystorkes that are also used in DayZ, but I dont have enough buttons for the game and Id need another joystick to look around since the existing one is for movement. That said, when I reconnect the arcade controls, I can make a short video of the few things you can do with this setup if youd like.

I made a video when I was curious where the coastal road ended in the West, but it was 6 gigs in size, so I used a program to shrink it to 1 gig and lost a good amount of the quality and it cut out the bandicam fps counter. Ill try to take a shorter one later and upload it to youtube.

I play through my arcade cabinet Im building. -i5 4670k OC'd at 4 Ghz right now -MSI z87 gd65 gaming mother board -GTX 660 that I overclock with MSI afterburner, but dont recall what its at right now -120Gb SSD with OS and games on it and 1tb HDD for general storage -8 gigs of ddr3 ram @ 1600mhz -21" monitor running at 1600 x 1200 With most settings on high/very high and vsync on, I get upwards of 60fps away from cities and closer to 30 or so in cities. If I switch on bandicam, I lose some of that. Im redesigning it for PC gaming so a platform will rotate from under the monitor to be used with the keyboard and mouse. The arcade controls work with DayZ since theyre assigned to specific keystrokes, but there is of course far too few buttons.

I know Im not the first one to do it, but I find so much of what you say worthy of being in my signature. Would you mind?

First thing I do as a newspawn is take off my shirt, drag it from my inventory off to the left "in your vicinity" area, and then right click it and choose to tear into rags. You can use those to stop bleeding from almost any wound that doesnt immediately kill you and weather doesnt effect your character on the regular server branch yet I dont think. As far as fighting zombies unarmed goes, I tend to avoid it unless I have nothing to lose and just feel like playing around. Since youre just starting though, Id just focus on learning your way around and checking forums like these and all the youtube videos out there for ideas and tips.

I wouldnt bother with anything but fists unless you have an axe...or a gun of course.
