In the hills, id do the run at an angle uphill thing so I could move faster, but it seems like since yesterday or the day before, it's harder to run at an angle with speed. Maybe it's just me, maybe something was updated...

I tried to hide out for a while and watch for people I thought I could take while in Elektro last night, but I got bored pretty quick.

Sounds like its time to start checking out the East side of the map and more construction sites...So far Ive stuck largely to the West and generally North of where I spawn.

...do you ever want to play as a zombie? I feel like it would be fun to "switch teams" from time to time and play as an unarmed, unarmored zombie, but with other useful/positive attributes that living human players wouldnt have.

I only typically see people when I die and spawn by the coast. Usually its people in the same boat as me: Nothing to lose yet.

I ran up the coast, well, in the woods off the coast, and hit what seemed like a fairly big city. Heres the rooftop view for reference: Anyway, while running through that building Im pictured on above, I suddenly hear a recording start playing of someone speaking over music talking about stealing beans and killing people that he finds or something. It startled me enough to make me sprint, so it stopped once I got a little ways away, but it seems like someone was playing DayZ DJ almost. He must have been close, but I have no clue where. I ran through the whole building before leaving.

I think it was just a player doing it, but Im clueless if he knew I was nearby or if its just something he lets play.

Im starting to feel left out... Nobody wants to steal my stuff it seems. I rarely run into anyone, let alone bandits wanting to rob me. Ive only used the "raise your hands" button to show my gf it was an option.

I hope for and look forward to seeing some zombies hiding in houses and travelling in bigger numbers. I had 3 zombies charge me once, but thats one of the few occasions Ive encountered more than one at a time.

The first time I ran into another player, it was a girl who sounded like she should be on Flight of the Conchords due to her New Zealand sounding accent. She seemed really friendly and talkative, so we ran up the coast to a nearby town neither of us knew the name of. I ran into one house and she ran off elsewhere. I hadnt seen any other players or zombies as we ran into town, so I was foolishly focused on finding food instead of watching my own ass. I walk down a stairwell to leave a house after finding some cereal and as I open the door, that same girl is waiting and starts trying to club me to death with a crowbar. (She even took the time to yell "suck it" into the mic...very lady like) She hit me once, but I didnt get knocked out, (thank you motorcycle helmet) so I backed away pulling out my axe and managed to bury it into her skull. I have to admit it was a lucky shot, but she was dead and I was stil standing. And despite its childishness and the fact noone else was around to even see it, I teabagged the bitch.

I'm still at a point where I don't really know where the hell I'm going. I found two parts of a map, but died soon after and haven't found any since. I looked up a map online, but I don't always know where I'm starting off, so that's only so helpful. One of the most useful thing I've found so far is the the compass, so I used it to go North hoping to run into an airbase or something new. I hit town after town and found some good stuff, felt confident in being able to keep myself alive for the first time, but eventually got to what must be the end of the map because it became bland, short grasslands to the horizon. After 5 minutes of wandering, they were still stretching off into the distance. I died heading Southwest trying to find a source of food, but never came across anything but trees and empty roads. I never played the mod, but I'm guessing there were ways to eat and stay alive in the wilderness put in place in that game aside from carrying it in your pack, so here's hoping to getting some of that in the standalone!

This happens to me usually after about an hour, but not every time Ive logged on. My internet doesnt slow down a bit, but I get that red chain link and the clock starts counting. I also noticed that if I click "details" on the server page, the ping it shows doesnt match the one shown on the list...its usually considerably worse.

Theres a bug that can make the screen all blur as well, happens to me a couple times a day. All you need to do is go to the settings menu and click video, that seems to help...if that were your problem.

EireBornFenix on youtube is the one who convinced me to get into the game with his youtube videos. Just seemed like he and the guys he plays with were having fun and made the game seem interesting. I havent a clue if he does anything hes not supposed to, but Ive seem him die in his videos, so Im guessing hes on the level.

I must confess I tend to try and play daytime servers only, Ive just found nightimte scavenging while alone less fun, so I try and use the Sun when I can. After what felt like an eternity in the woods, seeing the open plains was a relief...that is until I realized where I was and that I was S.O.L.

I've always been a console gamer. (Xbox fanboy for a few years now, but not against other consoles really) Even though I've also always been a "computer guy," I was just never into computer games as a kid or in high school. Like many people, I have kind of been sucked into the whole zombie/zombie apocalypse vortex and therefore always wanted a good game where you were stuck into a "realistic" zombie-pocalypse type situation. I know there's Walking Dead games and countless other games to choose from, but I have to say that DayZ in it's alpha form has already made me believe it is offering what I am looking for. Large, open world, no storyline or cut scenes being forced onto me, the ability to work with or against other people from all over the planet, and much more...I don't even mind its current imperfections. I didnt play the Arma mod version, but am giving it some thought since there's so much more to work with in that version while theyre still improving the SA version. I've also only played the game alone, so maybe it's time to buy a headset and start adding friends. I go by Sir Doctor Ninja if anyone feels like running around with a new player.

I def need to build up a few because my heart still skips a beat everytime I hear a zombie approaching or a gunshot coming from unknown origins! Ive only found one gun when I made it far enough North to an airstrip. Sadly I passed out due to food poisoning before even firing it.

I remember being curious about that one and wishing it had been an xbox title. I heard that DayZ might end up on PS4 on one site or another, so who knows, I might just switch camps yet. haha
