I decided to go with your advice and got the 24" asus with the 144hz feature. My current gpu cant take full advantage of that without turning down the settings ingame, at least for Altis Life since thats what Ive been playing lately, but even so it truly is so much better. I Still need to rework some of the wooden support structures Ive built to fit the new screen, but for the time being I have it clamped into place on its stand, which is also of great flexibility and quality in itself, and couldnt be happier. I look forward to upgrading my vid card to really get all I can out of the screen, but I have to say you guys were right; My old screen never would have let the gtx770 really show off what it can do.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I have a smaller widescreen monitor with good response I use with my laptop, so I rigged it up to the arcade and played some Altis Life last night...the difference was pretty astounding. So Im comparing these two monitors now because they are both available at my local Frys computer store for prices similar to what Newegg wants. The one recommended above by Shadow134 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313 A slightly bigger one, but its a little cheaper, so Im guessing it lacks certain features...I dont see its refresh rate, but I figure it lacks the 144hz the other one offers. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236302

This monitor is going to replace the old one on the arcade cabinet Im building. Ive built the cabinet so that its also able to be used with just a mouse and keyboard instead of only arcade controls, so I can use it for modern games and normal computer use as well. Ive also built it so that I could run SolidWorks and other CAD programs on it should my laptop die for any reason. Its a fairly decent setup and runs everything on high settings or better.

I had flashbacks of my mom yelling at me to pick up my room when I saw that.

Ive seen some 5:4 monitors with 5ms response time at 1280 x 1024. Whats your opinions on that?

Im trying to maintain the 4:3 ratio since a widescreen monitor will look weird on my arcade cabinets imo. It is a dying ratio though, so I guess I may have to just bite the bullet and go widescreen if I ever want to improve things.

I somewhat recently upgraded my PC to the following specs: Intel 4670k - OCd at 4.0Ghz currently MSI z87gd65 gaming mobo 8 gigs 1600 mhz ddr3 ram 120 gig ssd for games/OS, 1tb hdd for storage MSI gtx660 vid card Now, I have an opportunity to get a gtx770, brand new, for only $160 out of my pocket. A killer deal sure, but with my somewhat dated monitor, Im curious if Ill even get a huge improvement in quality of image by getting the new card. (Of course its a better card and will improve FPS and such, but Im wondering if upgrading the monitor first might be of more value) I use an older 20"Dell ultrasharp 2001fp monitor. I should add that I use this through my arcade cabinet, so I dont really want a rectangular widescreen monitor. The 4:3 ratio looks better IMO. Im not very knowledgeable on monitors, but heres some specs: 16ms response time 400:1 contrast 1600 x 1200 resolution at 60mhz typ brightness: 250 CD/m² So, in your opinion, should I look for a newer monitor that offers a higher quality of image first or should I just shut up and take the damn deal?

I cant wait until you can go on base raids and/or have big battles with people trying to raid your base.

Ive played the mod a little bit recently and it is a lot of fun and offers a lot of stuff the SA doesnt yet. It doesnt look as nice and has its own problems, but Ive still enjoyed it. The first time I tried it was on a server called DayZ Hell and it was pitch black at night and there must have been a hundred zombies around the area I spawned in. I didnt last long, but being attacked in the dark, only seeing the zombies faces every time I fired a round and the muzzle flash lit them up, was def freaky and brought back some of the fear that the SA no longer offers. That and seeing a team of guys swoop in in a helicopter and start kicking ass was pretty cool.

Well now the people in my office are wondering why Im sitting here laughing at my screen. Great video.

Pointless game nolonger - or how I learned to love Zombies and KOS players

Stick with a handgun and people won't know you have a gun unless you bring it out. -
I dont mind it in ARMA 3, but Ive always liked that they dont do it in DayZ...Even though Im not a huge RP guy, I feel like it adds a little to the immersion.

The new zombie spawning setup has actually made the game more enjoyable for me...maybe were just looking for different things from a zombie type survival game, I guess.

I like the crazy moments where two groups run into one another, everyone's armed, but neither are KOS'ers. The tension and yelling where everyone's trying to let each other know "We are armed, but we dont plan on trying to shoot you" is awesome. Had that happen while playing with a couple new friends the other night when we were running through the woods... it was fun and everyone lived. My general ROE are pretty simple: If your gun starts to point in my direction, you had better kill me quickly because Ill be firing right back. If you appear unarmed, hurt, sick, etc, keep your distance and Ill help if I can.
