The answer lies somewhere between this reply and the OP's frustrations. A lot of the knocks on DayZ are slated to be fixed throughout ongoing development. And if the WarZ experience made you a forever-pessimist, I feel bad for you and somewhat empathize....

Its not a novelty. Some people enjoy 3pp and are familiar with it from many other games. The only argument that's defensible is "sack up and play hardcore like a real survivor". By the same logic, logging out/in to a game world, running infinitely, and surviving bullets to the head are unrealistic and downright exploitative. Do you exploit infinite run, Mart? Did you survive damage that would kill a real man? I imagine you never log out unless a server resets on you, because that just ain't real or hardcore enough, right? Also there's a selection of servers for your play style. More are coming. You don't have to play with all the people you disagree with.

The system in place for communication is great. Some people want their fancy feast brought to them on a silver saucer, that's all. Strip away all posts where people flame, go off topic needlessly, and make unfounded demands. Next, delete all posts where people say "heres my beans!" or post a pic of a bean can. You're support is inspiring, but just click the "you have my beans" button please? "Like a sculptor who doesn't keep adding clay to a statue... but strips away the inessentials until the truth is revealed".

Why Should I Go To The Apartments?
UbuntuFoo replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Its pretty random in my experience. When SA released I found random things in them including backpacks, but now its mainly a random food item in a first floor kitchen and sometimes a medkit on a higher floor, but never ammo or clothing. Go and have a ganders fer yerself. -
they arent going to spend tons of time optimizing at this point. Its likely more efficient to add some content and tweak other things, then eventually optimize in bulk. There are several DayZ SA guides for FPS boost you can easily Google.

I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

Agreed. There are several other quality battlefield/arma games out there, but few if any other survival sim's with the potential that DayZ SA has. Im not interested in what an OP insta-travel vehicle will bring to the the table. Im interested in fleshing out whats been presented to me already, a game thats already a blast to play. -
That's actually pretty awesome. Many people crave an immersive game that has the power to rattle you so. And I can see why hardcore would result in less KOS. More of your player interaction is spontaneous whereas regular mode lets you 3PP camp with guns hot ready to pounce on someone who can never see you coming until its too late. You can certainly do that in hardcore but it takes more discipline.

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
UbuntuFoo replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Im pasting this in from another thread because panic is beating reason at this point: If you're a fan of Dean Hall then you respect his decision to leave the game in capable hands - hands of professional game developers with a formula that clearly has appealed to most, if not all of us so far. If you were never a fan of his then you should be relieved to see him walk from the project before 2015. Either way you slice it, its reasonable to argue that this is the best thing that could happen to DayZ. We as a community have more power to make this game into what we want than most realize. Take your finger off the panic button and disregard Deal Hall's questionable choice of wording. The man has other dreams to pursue in his lifetime, why cant he get on with his goals and leave the solid foundation of DayZ with you, me, and BI? -

Why the dayz formula will ultimately fail

While your ideas have promise, your post must be in alpha stage. So i will read the rest some day when you've finished developing it.- 109 replies

The "I killed X", "Was killed by X", "OMG HAX", "Sorry for killing you", "I got ghosted", & "X is pissing me off" thread
UbuntuFoo replied to Mdogg2005's topic in General Discussion
He's right, so many junk threads washing away posts where people offer test results, links to worthwhile YouTube videos, statistics, other original ideas.... This thread won't work but increasing awareness about crappy post spam is a good start! -
Its a double edged sword. Makes playing legitimately in the short-term more difficult but in the long-term this will be fixed sooner from overexposure.

He had high ground, initiative, and the right weapon for the job. Who cares if he didn't talk to him first, let him live, give him a hug. There's only 1 person who you can dictate play style choice to: yourself. SMH at judging and labeling someone based on a single instance of game play that you weren't even involved in. Good job OP.
