    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

It's getting closer now. They almost have enough elements in place that there is more incentive to work together than kill each other. There is still some terrible network performance issues with zombies and players desyncing a lot, but you can almost see the vision coming together. My play group has burned up more ammo last weekend than we have since from late last year to now. The 357 with speed loaders is suddenly HIGHLY useful because the gun can kill a zombie in 1 and the ammo is plentiful. You keep your scoped rifle for human encounters or covering zombies from distance. It's darn near impossible to feel like you have "too much" 5.56 ammo now. I would really like it if melee worked a little better with less lag and jumpiness. Once they get server stability and performance working just a little better they will be clear to turn the zombie threat up even higher... at which point it's going to be "game on!" finally. Can't wait.
  2. Did anyone here back that OTHER crowdfunded sci-fi game? You all know the one. The only difference in game development between this and that is that the DayZ team is obviously smaller. But the issues are the same. Teams do what they do. If the team working on core issues like server stability havn't got things sorted out yet, it doesn't mean that the artists, designers and feature teams are going to stop pumping out their end. What are they supposed to do? Hold on putting in ANY features thereby stalling the whole process and idling most of their teams? That's idiocy. That's why it's called an ALPHA. Features and core mechanics are still all being worked on at once. BETA is where it is all essentially done except for minor issues and you work out the last brutal 10% of the game to get it ready for release. Does this game strike anyone as being "almost all done?" No? Didn't think so.

They are doing frequent updates... they don't have to. It would likely cause less flack if they did less. But we get to play a better game sooner and watch the development cycle this way. So try to be nicer. Because the last thing we want is to not get the rapid updates because they get tired of the constant hammering. If you wouldn't say it straight to their faces in a RL conversation, don't say it. I don't think anyone here seriously thinks they are working so slowly they deserve to be brought up on it. So try to ENJOY watching the dev process rather than complaining about everything. Go make a feature request or provide some helpful feedback. Report a bug. Be constructive. Please. Personally all the fixes in this pending patch are big ones for me: The rubberbanding has really been messing with me and the group I play with. Lost both of my friends 3 times the last session we played due to it. So this is welcome. And I remember thinking just a few days ago it makes no sense that a bayonet cannot open a can... which now it can. :) And the inventory tetris... having just switched out my pack twice this is going to be great. So yeah, I'm happy.
  4. I'm very new to the game, but agree completely with implimenting something like this, even if not all of it or as detailed. Having to work to zero a gun to yourself for long range shooting. The game is already a social experiment in just how vicious humans can be to each other (very) and making distance sniping possible but requiring dedication makes sense. There's no need to mess with closer range combat as it's reasonable to assume most people can learn to shoot one or two hundred yards and hit within a foot or two... but you can't pick up any gun and shoot 800 yards without knowing a lot about the guns setup and the ballistics of your ammo. Some type of "quirk" that you need to learn for each gun, preferably randomized per gun so you need to be very familiar with it to shoot that range. It will eliminate most of the griefing as you will be truly playing as a bandit. And if you get killed, it's going to take some real time to both FIND another good rifle and LEARN that guns quirks at long range. Really a great idea.
