Are there any servers left for me?
Borislaw replied to lt dan's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm also looking for some nice "hardcore" server (actually I don't like this name, in my opinion all hardcore should be renamed "normal" and all "regular", "veteran" etc should be renamed "easy-arcade mode") and thanks to you I'm now playing on vanilla 3rd person:off server. I remember good days of 2012, when there were lots of nice servers. I hope this Dead Man Walking will be filled with more players soon. -
Due to the location of Chernarus http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/52/ArmA2_Chernarus_factbook_map.jpg it's not obvious if this gun would made its way into the hands of chernarussians or not. No one knows where exactly Chernarus is placed, but you can be sure it's not even close to the Czech Republic because of that large sea to the south, and Russia to the north. Anyway, these rifles are lately easy to obtain in gun shops in some countries as CZ858 (semi auto only), but here in ex-communist countries there are not too many guns around and especially ex military rifles. It would be more realistic to add sporting/hunting guns instead of military. From what I know there was a prototype of SA58 for hunters, with very short (3 round) magazine, longer barrel and completely new stock, also with scope mount. Something like that should fit the theme better. It's not western country where assault rifles can be found at every corner :)

Almost any binocular have much larger field of view than almost any scope. Obviously that depends on magnifying but if we compare scope 7x50 and binocular 7x50 - binocular will win in category of field of view. Also if will be better for observation at night.

Very nice battle rifle but I'm afraid that not too many of these are in civilian hands of eastern European citizens. Maybe even none, I've never seen any of these in shops or shooting ranges here. Chernarus is supposed to be placed somewhere between Russia and fictional Arabic countries like Takistan, so FN FAL should suit the theme better, and also lately some Imbel (Brazilian made) FALs were imported to the region so it's possible to buy one here, of course only semi-automatic. Anyway I think it would be better to add more sporting/hunting firearms instead of western military weapons, just because it's how it looks now when we look at civilian firearms market of the region. Also most armies here used and still are using soviet weapons so FMJ 7.62x51 surplus ammunition is not as popular as for example 7.62x39 or 7.62x54R. In case of zed outbreak there could be a little problem with such ammunition after some time (while 7.62x39 is still available in tonnes and used in many different guns, there are even accurate bolt action rifles in this caliber).

DayZ Origins (Hardcore) - looking for squad members
Borislaw posted a topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hello! We are currently playing in a squad of 2 to 4 players (depending on day/hour etc) on DayZ origins hardcore server (3rd person view off, crosshair off). We are not bandits, and our goal is not to kill fresh spawns but instead we are going to finish building our houses and garages (maybe even fortress some day), conquest sector B and fulfill all PDA Elektronika missions. Currently we spend lot of time looking for building materials and building next houses, once we're done with that we will start doing tasks mentioned above. Recently server is populated as never before and we are often under fire, so we are looking for some help. We need patient and mature players that will accept our style of gameplay: -we are usually friendly towards strangers or at least avoid them but if necessary we can attack the bandits; -we spend lot of time looking for building materials (at least now, in the future this may change); We all can speak English and Polish, also one of us knows some Russian. Maybe our English is not perfect but understandable. Two of us are flashpoint/arma veterans, and the other two aren't newbies either, but we do not have any requirements for new squad members. Anyone is welcome, we can teach some things about the game or be teached by more experienced survivors. Lone survivors are welcome, but we also can cooperate with other teams. We are playing on evenings almost every day, but we do not require regular presence on the server. We are using Teamspeak to communicate. If you are interested please write a private message to me, or reply in this topic. We will contact you and give you our TS address. -
Yes, I'm living in the EU. And I'm not playing alone, but always with at least one of my friends, and sometimes in group of four (rarely five) so we could help populate your friend's Origins hardcore server. We are interested only in 3dp off and crosshair off too. We would be very thankful for such Origins server. And I hope your persuasion will be succesfull :) I think that there are still people that wishes to play on hardcore servers, last time we played on Origins expert there were also few other people on the server so it's not that bad.

Hi, I wonder what happened with all DayZ Origins hardcore (3d person off, crosshair off) servers? One week ago there were four of them or even more, now there is nothing to play on, all of them are offline since one week. Is it just temporary or noone wishes anymore to host such servers?

I think that's a nice idea, also this gun could share many textures and model-parts with AKM so making it shouldn't be as troublesome as making entirely new model from the scratch. It would be nice to see more civilian weapons instead of uber/pr0 USA made military automatic guns, that are non-existing in eastern Europe countries on which Chernarus is based on.

Hello. I'm from one of the eastern Europe republics, ex Warsaw Pact country. I'm from family with hunting traditions and I know some hunters here and I also know what weapons they are using the most. I think that 95% of hunting rifles here are bolt-action, either in 7.62*54r, .308 winchester, 7*64, 30-06 springfield, .222 or .223rem. These rifles usually have 3 to 6 rounds in magazine which is in 50% of cases internal part of the gun. 22LR is used in sport competitions, always fired from bolt action rifles or single-shot rifles though sport shooting is unpopular here. 7.62*39 round is very cheap and also used in some sport guns (not only in AK variants). So 22LR is not very common but is known here and sometimes used. Sport guns are many times less common than hunting guns, and hunting guns are actually very rare - most people here do not know how firearm looks like or how to operate one. Under regime of the communists our governments succesfully disarmed all citizens to make sure that there wouldn't be any uprising or disorder. This is working to present day. Besides from bolt action rifles every hunter have the double barreled shotgun. Pump actions or semi automatic are very rare - I've met only one hunter with semiauto shotgun. American military weapons such as M4 or M16 are non existing here. Automatics in private civilizan's hands are banned of sourse. Some hunters managed to get AK/AKM/AKMS rifles and they are always only semi automatic, usually with small magazines with 3 or 5 round capacity. These carbines in civilian hands are rare though. Any "tactical" accesories such as bipods, additional handguards, lights or even red dot sights are unpopular - flashlight attached to the rifle is actually illegal in some countries here. There are still some old guns in use such as Mosin or Mauser, there are also some modified versions of these rifles, for example Mosin with longer barrel, Mauser chambered in .308win and other things like that. I've heard that some Russian hunters are using SKS Simonow because these guns are cheap - but for example not easy accessible in my country so that varies on place. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/File:arma_2_island_locations.jpg This is the map of Chernarus. As you can see it's located between Russia and Takistan. Chernarus is NOT Czech Republic, do some research before posting such nonsense. I found it after typing Chernarus in Google within few seconds. All roadmarks in Chernarus are written using Cyrilllic, not Latin letters - this thing alone should indicate that it's not Czech. Only the terrain shape is based on Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. I think that .22LR could be used in dayz game, but it should me many times less popular than any hunting rounds or even AKM rounds. PS. .22LR is illegal for hunting in my country - it has too low kinetic energy. A hunter can't own a single .22LR bullet or gun that fires that round - that's also illegal. Maybe that round is popular in western Europe or America, but in eastern Europe is rather rare compared to any hunting round.
