  1. I like. Although you could easily server hop for loot in cities if all you needed to do was be near a house/bed, so I'm not sure about that part. Plus, in the world of DayZ you really wouldn't want to fall asleep in a house in town if you haven't fortified it. So maybe no logout timer in the wild if you have a sleeping bag/tent deployed. Otherwise, there should be a fairly long (~2 minute) logout timer.

How Do You Use The Compass?

You don't have to, just leave it open.

    The Green Avenger

    LOL. Awesome videos.

The most common 'cheat' used in DayZ...

Except when you use VoIP your in-game character doesn't make any noise. I'm guessing the use of radios will still require you to talk aloud in-game so people in that proximity will still hear you. Aka it's not like telepathy lol.

The most common 'cheat' used in DayZ...

I kind of like the idea of in-game talk being always on. If you talk on TS, you talk in game. Adds back the immersion that TS removes by making it so your actual game character talks if you're talking on TS. Can't talk "behind someones back" while you're 2 feet from em. The down side is that you're mic is always on so you'd have to mute it to not transmit in game. That'd be pretty annoying. Of course it's not cheating, and that's clearly not what the OP meant given he used quotations. But it does create a disparity between those who use TS and those who prefer a more immersive experience and go without it.

    Stomach update?

Well if your stomach is full, your stomach is full. It can be food, water, or both.

    Changed server, my char just~

Hardcore = 1PP only (for now anyway) Dang it doublepost.

    Changed server, my char just~

These threads are becoming ridiculously redundant. Stick to a few servers that don't give you this issue.

    Sound Radius

I can confirm that eating sound effect happens as a bug too. I wear a nice headset and I hear it all the damn time! lol. Makes me nervous, especially when I just log in.
  10. I have yet to experience any issue with character resets. I play on the most filled up US Hardcore servers.

    *THIS* is why I KOS.

I've put it on my own head before just fine, but I don't remember if it was a right click or if I dragged it over my character's body.

Food munching sounds are way too loud.

Agreed, though I understand its not a huge concern right now. Also, I've heard people talk about the soda can/loading ammo/zombie sounds but I can often hear feint eating sounds like.. All of the time. Scares me sometimes haha.

Survivor in Berezino with Sack on his head?

Yeah he was dead. I think you can only loot live players if they're handcuffed.

Something is very wrong with DayZ

    1st person servers rock. :)
  15. I have this issue from time to time. Usually after refreshing the servers too much. I've found that if you wait a little while, the servers eventually pop up and then readily show up again on consequent refreshes. Not sure why this happens.

You'll be the first to realize when I become a moderator. :) In the meantime, please make an attempt to show that you at least know how a forum works.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

A more correct way of saying this would be: "Right now everyone moving has the potential to be a bandit" which is EXACTLY how you should treat everyone in this game. I have no idea how you play, or what servers you play on, but I can confidently say that maybe 50% of survivors I've run into have killed/attempted to kill me on sight. 90%!? What do you do, run down streets and in open fields? Frolic in military bases? Run at people with your ax drawn? I am not sure if you're just inflating the number or if you play very differently than me. If you want to initiate contact, get the jump on people and control them with your gun and their life. I do not want some BS cops and robbers "fix" for something I've never had an issue with in the game since getting used to it! I mean no offense with my post, but I have failed to see how bad KoS is in the game's current state. I'm positive that as the game develops, that the level of KoS will go down. In the meantime, stay hidden and only initiate contact on your terms! :)

    *THIS* is why I KOS.

You do realize that he said, "army helmet" right? AKA the helmet that just covers the top of your head. I don't see why that'd protect your face from punches. You don't need super fighting skills to avoid punching the helmet. I am no amazing martial artist; I have some basic kickboxing and grappling training, but I'd have no problem hitting someone in the face that had a helmet on their head. Sidenote: Please edit your first post rather than making multiple posts back-to-back.

How to end kill on sight?

I have to say, when I was playing on the experimental servers and there was virtually no loot, I had never run into so many friendlies before. Literally almost everyone I ran into, just as defenseless and starving as I, was friendly. We had a group going together of 5 random people that I met during my play that day. It was actually really fun and challenging. Anyway, my point is that to say it has no effect is not true at all. However, KoS *will* and should always have its place in this mod.

Before watching the video I was already conjuring up some terrible thing to say about you. :) Guess I don't have to!

    *THIS* is why I KOS.

Watching the video, I was just waiting for the guy to punch you in the face. What were you expecting haha? Even if you confront the guy in a friendly way, BE CAUTIOUS. Do not let him even face you. Order him to crouch/prone, facing away, in a corner. Keep your gun out while rummaging through your pack. You basically gave him an open invite to have all of your gear. Not saying I wouldn't be pissed, but I realized after a few stupid deaths that being friendly and not KoS'ing requires extreme caution. This experience is not a good reason to turn to the dark side. Although from what I understand the problem goes beyond punching, clearly a helmet doesn't protect your face. Military helmets should surely not block a punch to the face.

    Those panic killers.

So just yesterday I was in SW Elektro heading into the hospital building. To my surprise, after going up a flight of stairs, I heard a noise behind me and realized it was a pair of zombies! (Prior to this, I didn't know zombies could go upstairs in the latest patch) Needless to say it scared the shit out of me and I quickly hacked 'em away with my splitting ax. I turn around to head further upstairs and there's a player standing RIGHT THERE with a firefighter ax! Instinctively, I swung away and landed a good hit which caused him to bleed immediately. I never KoS so I felt bad, and after creating distance between us, I apologized and offered to bandage him. :) Needless to say he wanted nothing to do with me and told me to go away haha. Oops! At least I didn't kill 'em. But in these situations it can sometimes be understandable if that happens.

This game is so much FUN!!!

/\ No need to degrade this topic, Furtherado. Stryder meant no harm in his words. Great post OP, good to see that some people are able to see past the alpha bugs and realize that it's very fun game already.
  24. Weird that so many people are having this issue. I have yet to lose my gear on the latest patch.
  25. I'm actually curious as well.
