  1. I agree, though there should be (fairly small) chance that medical supplies spawn in houses and pretty much any building. At least bandages and basic meds. I think civ weapons should spawn under some beds in houses or something too.
  2. And how much of it would you expect to still be around long after the zombie apocalypse began? Edit: nvm I get it now. :)
  3. 100 players seems over the top for the map size. Maybe 60-80, but 100? Man... Maybe it will work out well once spawn points and loot distribution is improved.
  4. I don't want vehicles or any special base building just yet. At this point I'm most interested in seeing loot spawn locations fixed, respawning loot, hunting, sickness, cooking, player temperature, and stronger need for resting. Basically the core survival elements. After that, zombie pathing, more zombies, and respawning zombies! :P
  5. He's referring to defibrillators and the fact that they are not intended for use on hearts that have stopped beating. Quote from wikipedia: "Only the cardiac arrest rhythms ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia are normally defibrillated. This is because the whole point of the exercise is to shock the patient into asystole[citation needed] and then let their heart start back beating normally. Someone who is already in asystole cannot be helped by electrical means, and usually needs urgent CPR and intravenous medication." So basically if a heart is stopped, you need to use CPR.
  6. Yeah there are several houses/floors that spawn nothing at the moment, which I'd consider more of a bug, but it's still extremely easy to stay energized and hydrated imo.
  7. I agree for the most part. Out of all the times I've traveled to NWAF on a full server, I've seen other survivors once (group of 2 armed guys). However, I never loot the buildings along the NE side of the strip cause it's too much in the open.

    Anonymity in DayZ

You're still completely anonymous unless someone in-game tells you their steam name. Seeing a full list of names doesn't really help narrow it down too much.

    Killing yourself

I think the issue is the building, not the lack of suicide button. Fresh spawns are sure to abuse it if they didn't get the spawn they like. I'd be for a suicide button if there was a harsh time penalty

Remove Spawn Timer when joining same server.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but in order to ghost you need to join a different server, right? This will STILL initiate the penalty. You will get penalized again when re-joining the initial server too, not to mention the log out timer for both servers. I don't see the problem with removing the penalty for consecutively rejoining the same server. You can't ghost with one server. Loot being in military bases has nothing to do with "hopping" if it's on the same server, well, because it's the same server. I think the 30 second log out timer should be changed to 1-2 minutes and the log in timer should be removed if it's the same server. -No combat logging (improved if logout timer is increased) -No ghosting -No server hopping -No penalty for joining the same server if you've crashed or something

The Current Combat Log System Dosen't Work

If anything the 30s should be increased to 1-2 minutes. 30 seconds really isn't long in terms of many DayZ firefights. Plenty of time to successfully combat log without a high chance of death as a consequence. As long as you've found a nice secluded spot, there's virtually no chance someone will run into you in that time. That's the point to the timer. To stop people from doing it altogether by making combat logging a TERRIBLE idea. I have not once been killed after logging off because I don't do it in bad areas. What's the matter with that? Is there really something wrong with combat loggers getting punished? Combat logging should be harshly punished as it is a clear exploitation and ruins gameplay. It has LITTLE to do with killing a lifeless NPC, lots to do with encouraging people NOT to combat log at all. Also, since the logout timer has been added to the game I have not been combat logged on. Seems to be MUCH better than before. It's doing its job.

If you like dying, come to BEREZINO.

Johnny Depth, you realize that every time you tell people to come try and take you on but fail to post the server you lose a shit ton of credibility. You have reached the point where you have no credibility. I doubt you've killed anyone.

The Current Combat Log System Dosen't Work

It's working fine. People combat log and get killed. Then they don't do it anymore because it's a bad idea. This thread constructed entirely on the idea that combat loggers have no ability to think and adjust their playstyle. Once you combat log once and die, chances are your not going to do it again. Cancelable timers are exploitable and do not properly keep people from logging in combat.

My opinion about KOS and Friendly

No one said everyone should be a hero. No one said KoS should end, either.

I'm not trying to start a war

I want to correct one thing that people have been saying: 3rd person does not increase your FOV, at all. It simply relocates the camera to behind your player which makes it seem like you have a wider FOV. You still can't see any "wider".
  16. So your point of this thread was to point out that people kill in as survival game? Well, I'll be damned, I'd have agreed with you to begin with had I known this! But your subsequent posts have indicated that you think that not killing = death, which is not true. You have also indicated that those who are "nice" are all new players who are too naive to know better. This is also not true, as I've already argued earlier. A truer statement could be: "Players who try to be nice and make the mistake of letting their guard down are naive and probably new."
  17. Also, I should have said that everyone should assume that everyone KoS's in military bases. I have yet to be killed or even shot at one and for that I'm pretty lucky. I've only run into someone once at NWAF; it was 2 fully geared guys with weapons on me. They didn't kill me, but the story may have been different if I had a weapon.
  18. No, that's still generalizing. That's situational killing, not just killing for the shits and giggles. While someone may kill you in a military base, they might not kill you in a town or the wild. People in a military base are either looking to kill, or are looking to get weapons. The same weapons that other people want. Think of it this way. The zombie apocalypse happens in real life. While everyone in general will not be killing their neighbors for no reason, there's a good chance people at the nearest gun shop will be killing eachother for those weapons. As expected, it's a very dangerous place to be. I'm in and out of military bases like there's no tomorrow! I've never even looted an entire airfield in one run-through. You may have not been looking for a fight, but that's not to say you shouldn't expect one when in the open in an airfield.

My opinion about KOS and Friendly

Don't get me wrong, helcol, I'm not doing this for you or trying to "speak for you". I just agree with your point and I've already typed up similar posts in other threads, so I was sort of happy to reply to the thread and reinforce your thoughts. :)
  20. Pretty sure everyone goes by the rule of KoS in military bases and airfields, no matter the player or server. It's also the most likely place to be sniped. Unless I'm looking for a fight, a roof in an airfield is the last place you'd find me. Overall, I've found hardcore servers to be a little more friendly, but they still have their fair share of KoS, which is totally ok. Would be no fun at all if no one did :P

My opinion about KOS and Friendly

Absolutely. Nothing should stop KoS, but future content should make people think a bit more before killing everyone they see. ;) And yeah, I'm pretty bad when it comes to editing lol.
  22. solodude23

My opinion about KOS and Friendly

As was I: "well what sort of content would stop people killing?" - Skyline-GTR At any rate the OP was just stating that any playstyle is a viable choice for survival.
  23. solodude23

My opinion about KOS and Friendly

The difference is GTA5 is not a survival game. There are many upcoming features that will add content to the game and consequently give players more things to do. These new "things" to do will not only give players a choice of something to do besides KoS, but also could directly influence people to not KoS. Some examples: 1. More (dangerous) zombies will make people hesitant to fire shots if it will put them in danger. 2. Sickness, when incorporated, will make it so players may be more interested in trading for antibiotics, water purification tablets, alcohol tincture, disinfectant, clean rags, and vitamins, all of which are now useless in the game. If you're sick and kill someone, this shit will prob be ruined and you'll die of sickness. 3. As a result of #2, inventory will be more difficult to manage. That's a bunch more items to carry without actually having more space to carry it. This influences sharing/trading. 4. Warmth. If player temp. is added I think it won't be so easy to just sit on a hill and camp without taking shelter/making a fire every now and then. Even people who still KoS will have more to deal with than just hunger. 5. Vehicles. From what I understand it won't even be possible to repair them by yourself. Just some examples. I agree with OP wholeheartedly. KoS will always be part of the game, as it should be, but I do think it will die down a bit when people have more to do.

    How do you kill rabbits?

You gotta catch it with a canvas bag, then you can eat it. Just kidding. Though it'd be funny to see someone trying. So far no form of hunting is in the game and as far as I know rabbits are invincible.

    sewing kit

I won't be able to play for a little while. Anyone have a pic of the sewing kit? Also: So far the only benefit to pristine/worn clothes is that it can better protect you from zombies somewhat.. right? I imagine down the road they'll protect you better from cold and/or pockets will become unusable with damage. Not sure if either of these has been confirmed but it'd be awesome!
