Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
solodude23 replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
No changelog has been released yet that I'm aware of. The one on the first page of this thread is for the current build. -
Hardcore ftw, as combat isn't entirely dependent on corner peeking. I've also had better experience with the average hardcore player.

Hackers on dayz believe it or not!

Why do you always have a dickish reply to everyone man? Relax. Smoke a joint or something. Anyway, both the experimental and stable branch are part of the "alpha" so that's not exactly a valid point. Stable still has anti-cheat and experimental doesn't. -
Name 5 thinga you want the most for dayz asap.

- Hunting - Cooking - Sickness!! (Really excited to get sick from zombies, water, other players, etc!!) - ZOMBIES - Refined (not clunky) melee system I'm probably the only one who doesn't really care about vehicles, though it'll be pretty neat once they're in I suppose. Edit: I can't count to 5. I haven't had a single issue with this since last patch. Has it at least improved in your experience? -

Is it? That's somewhat hard to believe being as only stable has any form of anti-cheat. -

Yeah, it sucks. I just ran into a cheater for the first time yesterday on an experimental server. They were teleporting around just like this. Hoping it won't be so bad on stable. -
I am stuck on the bottom of the ocean

Try logging in and just let your character sit there underwater for....... a while. I believe eventually you will "actually" die and the game will realize it and let you respawn. Maybe alt-tab out and just let the game run. This happened to me once when some douche broke my legs right when I spawned in at Kamyshovo. I said fuck it and crawled into the water to drown myself. After a bit it killed me but I wasn't *really* dead and like you, I couldn't respawn. So I just alt tabbed and eventually when I came back to check my char had really died and it allowed me to respawn. And don't kill yourself for a better spawn <_< -

It's still somewhat of an indication of the possible presence of another survivor, especially when you've looted half a town then you notice the other half of town is unlooted. This becomes more and more useful the further you are away from the east coast. Plus people are less likely to look around for survivors when entering a city if they see all the doors are closed. Once they see that, it's much safer to assume there's no one there and they head in to loot. I close doors behind me quite often, but it depends on other factors too, -

Edit: Accidental post. Replied to an old comment, it's irrelevant now. -
Friendlies are plentiful in DayZ- At least, for me
solodude23 replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
/\ Out of all duplicate threads to complain about, this isn't one of them. And there sure as hell are more threads about KoS than there are about friendly interactions. Spawned in Berezino earlier today on a hardcore experimental server with roughly 30 people. Ran into 5 survivors total, all friendly. Teamed up with the first two in Berezino and headed north to loot the ship. At one point while in the ship, I slipped and fell to my death (shit) and met another friendly guy as I ran to meet back up with the guys at the ship and grab my stuff. About 10 minutes later I arrived and luckily they decided to wait it out to see if I'd come back. One of the dudes had to log off just as we met another guy who then tagged along as we went further north to Svetlo. By then I had a Mosin with no rounds and one of the other guys had an SKS with some ammo. Svetlo was completely looted and as we were heading west to leave the city we ran into another guy who instantly surrendered upon the sight of us, lol. He had a shotgun but no ammo and told us that while in the city he overheard of group of well geared bandits saying they were gonna head to NE airfield. He said he was gonna go log off and decided to give us all his shit and the 3rd guy got the shotgun. We left Svetlo for the new town to the west along the train tracks. Half the place was looted but we got some decent stuff, including another Mosin, and decided to head for the NE airfield to see if we could find and engage the bandits. No luck, everything was already looted including most of Krasnostav and the place was deserted. Crazy considering it was pretty much a full server by then. By the time we finished checking Krasnostav it was pretty dark so we decided to head for the trees and log out. 5/5 friendly in one session. -
I think I remember reading somewhere that there would be predatory animals of sorts. I'm thinking (and hoping) that the animal AI will be pretty smart after seeing that last DEV video. When hunting you'll really have to be careful not to scare your kill off. Wont be able to just run up and hack it up with your machete. :D That would be cool if shot placement had a factor too. Like if you don't hit the right spot and end up having to take follow up shots, you wouldn't get as much meat. Not sure how easy that would be though.

And it was actually thoughtful, well written, and not bitching! :D What's the issue? -
Haha that was pretty good.

I also play on Hardcore servers and my experience is not unlike yours, though I have yet to meet with any clans. Sounds awesome! -
Just changed my vote from 'No' to 'Yes'. I had just began looting Zelenogorsk on a Hardcore experimental server when I heard shot land near me. I didn't hear where the sound came from (buggy) so I ran West, deeper into the city and took refuge in a 2nd story building and began waiting and listening while peeking out windows. Heard a few footsteps, they faded, and then I heard a zombie go aggro (presumably going after the other player) so I decided to make my move. I exit the building and hear a gunshot, though it wasn't towards me. It's an SKS. I carefully move from cover to cover in the direction of the gunshot with my magnum drawn. Shit! A zombie saw me. I pull back, heading through the orchard in the west side of town, hoping the guy doesn't see or the aggro zombie running behind me. After I take cover behind a lone building, I switch to my wood cutters axe and slash up the zombie but take a hit (damn clunky exp. animations). Made a poor decision to bandage on the spot and just as I finish the other player pops around the corner and BOOM. He misses at point blank. Lucky me. I scramble away and fumble to get my revolver out. During the scramble he unloads his weapon, hitting me once. I finally get out my revolver and pop him once right away. He vanishes. I look around. There's nowhere to hide in the immediate area. I circle the lone house and he's nowhere to be found. I decide to run further west to a barn and BOOM, he takes another shot from behind me at me and misses. I round a fence, head to the far end, and peek around the corner edge. There he is, just as I was hoping. I fire a few shots, hitting him once. HE VANISHES AGAIN. BOOM. Shot from my right side a split second later. I'm dead. This was unlike any desync I've ever experienced and confident that wasn't the case. Anyway, even though it's the first time this has happened to me it left me with a pretty shitty feeling.

Post your PC specs, in game settings and FPS here
solodude23 replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Really not that bad for a 4870. What's the easiest way to display FPS? Any way through the console? -
Haha, that sucks. I probably wouldn't have killed em but I can't really blame you.

/\ This guy. You do realize a "last minute bug" didn't exist a week ago, right? And I can't help but laugh at, "Money solves everything." If only life was a simple as you believe it to be. You just watch the walking dead by any chance? :D -

Why co-operate if you're gonna get shot anyways?
solodude23 replied to Goddam Firestations's topic in General Discussion
I think I'm gonna start holding people up too and ONLY shooting the ones that attempt to run or fight. Punish the ones who play as if they don't actually value their character. -

Yeah because in the game development process there are never last minute bugs that cause delays. Not releasing to stable != slacking off. Come on man. Have you ever worked on any large scale project? Would you have preferred a repeat of the last time a version was pushed to stable when it wasn't ready? A valid point that I'd actually accept as not whining would be saying that the DEV's communication with the community hasn't been phenomenal. But seriously - don't let this ruin the "pep in your step". As a side note, it appears an update to experimental is still possible today (though don't let extra pep in your step get too big) ;) https://twitter.com/Hicks_206/ -
Been a LONG time.
