What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
solodude23 replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
I was running into many more cheaters (well, 3-4 times total) when the experimental servers ran without BattleEye, thought I haven't played much in the last month. Never once ran into a cheater on stable/recent experimental. I think we should be past the, "Are you SURE it was a cheater? Don't make claims without PROOF!" because not everyone records while they play and we all know it happens. Out of the few times I saw cheaters it was very blatant teleporting/super speed. Only one of them was hostile towards me. -
Running Dayz on Mac through BootCamp
solodude23 replied to lightningcougar's topic in General Discussion
This is what led me to choose Win 8 for my new build. Never had an issue with any program/game. The UI is easy to get used to and soon MS will release an optional Start Menu. -
I guess we'll just have to wait and see? I'm sure it wont be entirely realistic as of yet. Not much sense in completely revamping ballistics for this one gun to be realistic before the others. I figure they'll be done pretty much at the same time and fine tuning the weapons will be a more constant process. Patience. :)

What an awesome person. I wish the rest of this community would share your outlook. :) It'll probably be some time before vehicles, but you *may* want to return sometime after the end of May as there should be persistent objects (tents), hunting, campfires, and a few other cool features. There's already a bullet based physics system that allows you to throw objects which lead to the crossbow and craft-able bow, though the bow needs some finishing touches. Oh and loot will soon respawn (already did on the last exp update).

Agreed - it would be much easier than using the sorting tabs and I think about this feature nearly every time I play. lol.

Forum Suggestion: Required posts to start a new topic
solodude23 replied to byrgesen's topic in Suggestions
It's actually been quite convenient for me because I keep forgetting to save the dang number into my contacts -
Despite language (I assume ESL), qww was very clear and it only took the title for me to understand what he meant. The sorting columns are not "filters" (a filter actually has to remove something from a selection) and he didn't make the suggestion just to hear about something he's already aware of. (No offense guys) The sorting columns indeed separate the many regular servers from the hardcore servers, but then you cannot sort by ping or population. I would love this suggestion to be added sometime before/during beta as I only play hardcore and it can be quite difficult to choose a hardcore server with enough players and a low ping. As it stands I've been favoriting all the common hardcore servers but this obviously is a bit tedious. Ya hit the nail on the head, but no need to be rude about it. ;) Remember there are like 30 regular servers for every hardcore server so it can get a bit monotonous when you only play hardcore and want to sort by ping or server pop. For the record kichilron, I didn't find qww to sound hostile, only a bit irritated in his attempts to get his message across. The replies, on the other hand, I've found to be quite condescending - especially the "reevaluate your life" comment from aimbot.

Third person exploits reached a new low today
solodude23 replied to liquidsnake's topic in General Discussion
I think you're interpretation of the story is different than mine. From what I understand, the shooter was behind a bush that he could see over using 3PP (which is totally replicable and not uncommon). Otherwise what's the point of even mentioning 3PP? He would only be "visually impaired" if he was in first person view, which in that case it would be blind firing. I'm not saying anything bad about 3PPers, but the OP should really just switch to hardcore because this is a common and necessary tactic in 3PP. -
Third person exploits reached a new low today
solodude23 replied to liquidsnake's topic in General Discussion
Just give up on the normal servers! I only played on normal good 3-4 times before I was fed up with the "tactics" that normal mode revolves around. Firefights just felt silly and camping is overpowered. Yeh, but the second you being to "clip" through, parts of your body are visible from the other end. In fact, being in this exact position more than once (on either end), I strongly advice against doing this in 1PP. They'll see you before you see a damn thing - especially if you don't know their location. It might depend on the bush though. The difference is he stood behind the bush and fired using his 3PP view from over the bush - hence it's not "blind" firing if you can see what you're shooting at. It's just hip firing. -
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it'll be releasing SoonTM

Measuring dicks? jingles was the one who brought up personal life with the goal of belittling someone in order to try dispute a point which is completely uncalled for. I'm sure he was entirely capable of disagreeing without having to resort to insults. There was no "assessment", just a condescending post. And still - his "observation" was NOT relevant. Where on the map can you spawn and NOT find loot within an hour? Anywhere on the map is within 15 minutes of a place that spawns loot, if not less. From most anywhere you can get fairly well geared within in hour if not sooner.

This thread might be able to help you, though I'm not sure it'll be easy for a medic to pinpoint your location. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/160262-need-medical-assistance-in-dayz-sa-find-your-medic-here/ Do you have the means to kill yourself? Rotten fruit or disinfectant maybe?

Flembo's right. Checked for the new town the other day - still empty.

I just wish prone and crouch were toggle keys. A "stand up" button is just a waste of a key. Is there any way to bind it this way?

How To Craft Improvised Bow | DayZ Experimental 0.44.1238
solodude23 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Gallery
Good to see it wasn't just my bow that was bugged, lol. That's a poor reason to revert to stable. As it stands, the new experimental seems loads more stable than 'stable' itself, even on full 100 player servers. I've experienced zero lag/desync so far. That being said, if you weren't planning on testing or bug reporting then stable might be a better place for ya anyway. -
I'm positive there was no moon when I did it. I have been able to replicate it 2x more but it was cloudy so I could not verify if the moon was out. I have been able to gamma glitch EVERY night thus far as long as HDR is on Low. In experimenting with cloud settings, I've found that they have nothing to do with the glitch. Turning clouds low/off only makes the sky brighter, everything else remains unchanged.
-
This made me lol.
-
This is incorrect in my experience. With HRD on Low the exploit works just fine with no moon, as it did when I was testing a few hours ago. When the moon came out it worked even better. (I thought it was turning to day but it was just the moon) This was all done with clouds on max. I'll try to post some pics today if I have time.
-
Played a bit earlier today and I was able to see very clearly at night with gamma/brightness all the way up. In my experience, gamma/brightness exploiting only works with HDR on "Low" instead of "Very Low". It still looks close to pitch black if HDR is on very low. Not only does this help with the exploit, but it also makes it easier to see at night in general. Not many seem to know this though; saw many guys in Svet with their flashlights out. I haven't noticed cloud settings have any effect on the exploit, I leave most everything on max. (That all being said, it could vary from system to system)

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
solodude23 replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I don't care what anyone says, unless you have an impossible amount of zombies, "slow" zombies will never be a threat. As long as you can escape them via jog or run, they are not a threat with the exception of being trapped. -
Nah. I mean maybe, but I'm happy as long as there's an experimental update! :D

At the same time, turning object detail down changes the amount of undergrowth you see, even at close distance. Try it next to some ferns or grass. I was messing with it when trying to make the game look as pretty as I could. So while what you're saying about distance is true, turning object detail to low will in fact make it easier to spot targets in the forest and low-medium range. Unfortunately.

Trusted with a pistol and a single bullet. I redeem my new buddy and save his life.
solodude23 replied to G.Freeman's topic in Gallery
Awesome video! A little trust can go a long way. Good shooting throughout. -
That's just the distance between the corners, though, not the area. Using DayZDB and measuring either edge I get ~ (15360m x 15360m) = 236km^2 If you square your hypotenuse measurement and divide by two you get the same answer of about 236km^2.
