Yes I never liked it either and its one of the reasons I thought of this. The clipping problem is not an issue if done properly. 1) shirts don't need to be shown. 2) hoodies could have a clipped model that fits with a jacket. It wouldn't be hard to do, and I know what I'm talking about. I use maya regularly and I'm a game engineer. The biggest issue would be the extra models needed from the clipped hoodie and that would then add to game size. I still think it would be awesome though because of the gameplay that could be added with a "warmth" meter. It would drastically change how you played if you needed to keep a jacket on you but not wear it during hot weather. You could decide to chuck it, but if a snow storm happened while you didn't have a jacket you could end up with hypothermia.

I'm pretty sure with the fixes to shock you will not be able to one hit KO anyone with gloves any more. You would need to do enough shock to exceed their blood level so only a person with low blood would be able to be KOed with one hit. As to your second point, melee fighting is being revamped so I don't see a problem with that.

So as it stands right now, we have a shirt layer and pants layer. I would like to see a layer system added to these "slots" so that if you put a Tshirt on as a base layer, then you could put a midlayer on, like a sweater or hoodie, and still have an outer layer like jacket. The idea would be that each layer would add "warmth" which would you need to manage against the weather. If it is cold outside, you would need to add layers to your body to maintain a good warmth level. Too many layers and you would get a "HOT" icon in your inventory. Too little and you would feel "COLD". These status' would then be used as a factor in checks against weather related sicknesses. Too hot would make you dehydrate and too cold would cause you to get sickness like pneumonia. I think this would add a great layer to the game and allow the devs to include more weather elements like snow or hot summer days which would force players to manage their clothing more instead of wearing whatever looks cool to them. IE wearing a down jacket on a hot day would be silly, and wearing nothing, like our pantsless friends in electro, would immediately cause them to be cold and have a performance hit.

So my Marine friend happened to show me his gloves the other day and I was thinking it would be cool if we had something like this. Is there a Russian version? The idea would be that your punches would do more damage and have a better KO chance. It would also make the gloves have a bit of differentiation instead of just color.

I posted this before but I think you should be able to use rags to patch up clothing or backpacks. If they added a sewing kit you could patch it back to worn, but it would be cool to add your duck tape idea and have it do something along the same lines.

I think it would be best to have to repair the item with rags. Since they are already in the game, you could easily use them as patches for damaged gear to bring them back up to worn.

I actually posted this in another thread. The best way to implement this would be to have a menu activation key and a mouse over activation much like maya. You can add catagories to make the menu smaller but It would likely be better to have all options available immediately for speed.

Honestly, as a game programmer, it's not very good practice to give a player base a feature to use and then tell them they can't use it or they are using it wrong. If your game isn't clear how to use the feature , you should not include it, or your instructions for the feature's use must be clear. Dayz has no tutorial right now and I don't know if it ever will, but assuming everyone is going to know how to play a shooter isn't smart game design practice. As an alpha stage game, feedback is also very important from players and when a large portion of your base audience is using a specific feature, and wants it improved, it would be wise to listen and make those features very user friendly. If you think a few threads on the subjects are annoying now, wait until 10x more players are in game and have spent twice as much for Dayz.

theoretically, there should be a ray trace from you 3rd person camera to reticle. If the ray collides with an object that is "targetable" like a player or a door or a hat, the players model, ie your character, should adjust his aim at that target. So when you shifted to 1st person it is exactly in the same collision location that you placed the reticle before. This should happen and hasn't been implemented. You should expect that precision. I don't know why anyone here accepts anything less. In the picture above, the lines are static. The intersection point never changes and that is the problem. They should. Depending on your targets distance the ray will travel farther and create a different intersection point and the character should adjust to aim at that new intersection. If they implement it that way, you will be accurate in both 1st and 3rd person.

I think the first pic the OP posted is really cool. I would love that kind of look with the long waist coat; all dirty and creepy looking. Definitely hope they add a lot more customization and lower the military gear rates even more. :) All in good time. Also, I would really think they need to add more layers to clothing. We should have shirts, sweaters, and jacket, and then the chest rig on top. I assume this is where they are going but i am not sure, because the model for the TTsKO jacket has a tshirt under it and I think that's a bad choice. They should allow you to wear shirts and sweaters under your jacket, because people would do that to stay warm. It would be cool if we could have our hood up on our "hoodie" too :3 plz devs :>

I've thought about this also. Alcohol would be interesting and so would cigarettes/cigars. Alchohol in small amounts would help you with pain, however there should be a very fine line where once you passed it you got very drunk, with your character's vision blurring and him/her stumbling around. Aiming would be very difficult so you would have to be ready to sit and wait for it to pass. Water and food should help to rid you of your drunken state. Over using alcohol could cause vomiting, dehydration, and unconsciousness(it would be funning if your screen went black but your character had a chance to keep stumbling around). Smoking should be addictive. If you start smoking, the benefits would be a calming of your nerves when you smoke, but after you run out you would go through withdrawals and suffer from shaking. They would be a fun addition to a game that has few social emotes at the moment. I imagine your clan, stopping to eat. You pop out your flask and pass it around then light up a smoke. You only have a couple left so you ration them out to your group for food or ammo..

Dear developers, hear my plea. [priorities, not additions]

You shouldn't attack people when you do not understand that the term ALPHA, which you claim to know that the game is in, means that they do not care about your experience right now. That stuff is for beta. You obviously don't get how games are made, which is why you make uninformed statements like these, and tell me how stupid I sound. You chose to join an alpha stage game. Feel free to offer suggestions but telling the devs they need to prioritize something you want is so silly. -

This is the problem with releasing an alpha. Please stop telling the people who know how to build and design a game what to prioritize. They get paid to prioritize what they know is the most important to the game, not to you. All of the things that you ask for are being worked on but their priority has nothing to do with when they are going to be done. The harder the task, the longer it will take and adding more people to a task won't make any difference. That's not how engineering works. -
I was thinking, with the advent of the camo on your weapons, maybe we could get some sort of facial paint so we can have facial camo.

ooo so now we can add more to barns! That's where you could find good tack and food for your horse. Maybe some hay or oats for it to much on. It would be awesome too if they added a new stable building and placed them around barns or farms.
