Yea you're really gonna have to eat eat and eat more. Keep you're hunger and thirst under control. If you're really keen on living you could try to wait it out with enough food and supplies, or try to find help from a friend or (hopefully) friendly survivor. Worse comes to worst you die. It happens.
I heard a few people saying something that energy is a factor, and if you travel for awhile this might affect it. I really can't confirm that but maybe that could be the problem. I know that being thirsty/hungry affects this (obviously) but you said that wasn't the case. Maybe you actually were sick or something.
